Played 4c Shadow in a small 13 people tournament in my LGS. It was my first time with this deck, and I went 3-1 with the following list:

    Odd choices:

    Golgari Charm - I was looking for the last card for my sideboard and found this to be quite useful: Regenerating my guys after a Supreme Verdict (there's a UW player here), saccing Blood Moon (there's this guy who plays a RW prison deck with main deck Moons), and -1/-1 tokens (storm, abzan, affinity and Goblin Rabblemaster from the RW player);
    Kolaghan's Command - We have 3 Tron Players around here, so I think it's useful to have K. Command to return Fulminator Mages and destroy O. Stones. Also, the RW prison guy also plays Ensnaring Bridge and Challice of The Void;
1/1 Liliana Split - I simply do not have my second LotV yet =(

The decks I listed above are also the reason I'm playing 4C instead of 5C: not being dead to field of ruin/spreading seas/blood moon.

    R1: Gb Tron - 2x1
G1: 7/6/5 cards hands sucked. I kept 4 on the draw just to be sure the guy was playing Tron as I suspected. I scooped up after seeing mine + Map, and had the advantage of the opponent not knowing my deck for sideboarding. I boarded in 2 Fulminator Mages, 2 Ancient Grudges, 1 Maelstrom Pulse and 1 Surgical Extraction (just in case, right?).
G2: T1 IoK, Turn 2 Flayer, Turn 3 Shadow + Shadow. He played Wurmcoil Engine on his T3, but I had ancient Grudge on the graveyard + TBR to win.
G3: I played Iok + TS on first two turns, stripping a Karn + Fatal Push, leaving him with Push + O stone. Played Goyf into push, and had Fulminator Mage the turn after to stop him from assembling Tron. Then I traverse for shadow + shadow from hand, opponent plays O. Stone. K Command. to blow stone and return Fulminator was enough for him to concede.

    R2: UR Gifts Storm - 2x0
Not much to say. I did my thing and stripped his hand combined with a fast clock both games.

R3: RW Sun and Moonish Prison with Ensnaring Bridge - 2x1
This guy plays mostly a Sun and Moon list, but does not have Nahiris or Emrakul. Instead, he plays Ensnaring Bridge for an even harder lock, has some utility low power creatures like Goblin Rabblemaster and Pia and Kiran Nalaar and some walkers (Chandra ToD, Ajani Vengeant and Koth of The Hammer).
G1: I started quite fast on losing life and playing creatures. He was able to kill a Shadow and lock a goyf with Ajani Vengeant. Then he played Bridge and helixed me with ajani, bringing me to 3 life. My goyf finally untapped and I topdecked abrupt decay to blow bridge and ajani and win on the following Turn.
G2: I fast rabblemaster dealt some damage. When I managed to stabilize the board with some bigger creatures, he played wrath of god and Ajani finished the game.
G3: I had all the answers for bridges and planeswalkers with abrupt decay, k. command, discard spells and goyf + shadow on the battlefield to finish the game quickly.

    R4: Affinity - 1x2
G1: I took some damage from Vault Skirge + Signal Pest, but was able to kill both and start attacking. Opponent played Hazoret, which prevented me from attacking on the ground with my 4/5 goyf and 5/5 shadow. Died to an Inkmoth Nexus with 2 TBR + Terminate in hand and no red mana.
G2: Once again, Vault Skirge + Signal Pest on opponent's first turns. Fortunatelly I drew lingering souls the turn after to make things even. After that, my beefy ground creatures took the game over.
G3: I opened a 7 card hand with ancient grudge + golgari charm + goyf + 2 fetches + 2 cards i cant remember. Opponent starts with Inkmoth, Signal Pest, Memnite, Mox, Vault Skirge. All I could think was "so happy I have this G. Charm". I drew Street Wraith and cycled it looking for an IoK or Push, found bauble. Bauble revealed a fetch on top of my deck, and I thought that could be useful to play goyf on T3 and hold grudge from grave or push from hand. On his second turn, opponent floats mana with mox, plays a second one and plays the one card I did not wanna see: Master of Etherium. Change of plans, my T2 would not be Golgari Charm but Grudge instead to kill this guy, and wait to charm on the following turn. Opponent played Cranial Plating and I did not survive to have a 3rd turn.

Overall, I really liked the deck. I have to play some grindier matches to see how it behaves, but until now it felt great!
Any tips or advices? 4C with 2 basics and fulminators vs 5c with 1 basic and counterspells? K. Command: understandable or total crap?

    Thanks!

Played in a small 12 people tournament this week with Bant and went 3-1 with the current list:

    R1 - G Tron - 0x2
Pretty much nothing I could do. Mulled to 6 on the draw, kept a hand with a ghost quarter and no mana dork. The guy went T1 mine map, T2 power plant,i blew up one of his lands, he searched for the other with the map, and next turn played sylvan scrying with the forest he got from GQ. T4 Karn, killed with 2 creatures from CoCo, Turn 5 Ulamog exiling both creatures, Turn 6 Ugin and I conceded. The next game was pretty much the same, I had an Unified Will but he just got a lot of threats in hand.

    R2 - Skred - 2x0
A friend of ours plays a quite unusual skred list, with Ensnaring Bridges and Chandra ToD in addition to Koth. G1 he played two bridges and got me 2 life. My courser recovered some of my life, and I had both my tireless trackers and a KotR making me draw cards every turn. Eventually I drew my qasali and my witness and blew both bridges. G2 he played t3 blood moon and I had turn 3 Rec Sage. Turns 4 and 5 I played two KotR. He popped a relic to make my knights 2/2 and tried anger of the gods on the following turn, but I had played a GQ and grew my knights to 4/4s. He showed 3 more angers in hand and conceded.

    R3 - Eldrazi Tron - 2x0
He did not play any Smashers on these games. Two Thought-Knot Seers, but my voices are pretty nice blockers for those =)
Both games I won hitting with spell quellers, and the only thing that scared me was All is Dust, but I kept Unified Will in hand to counter that.

    R4 - BG Midrange - 2x0
All the value my creatures give were too much for him to handle. Both grindy games, but not that hard.

I'm trying to track down a list I saw awhile back. It was Bant only, no black, no Finks. It had Geists in the side and no Coralhelm combo. Anyone remember seeing this recently? I checked tcdecks but didn't find what I was looking for. Ring a bell with anyone?

It's Kyle Boggemes' list from SCG Cincinnati.

Besides, the list only plays 21 lands (and 11-12 mana guys). In grindy games you will want to sideboard some of them out, and that may result in mana issues. I played yesterday with 21 lands and 11 dorks and got stuck on 2 mana in 2 games over 4 rounds.

4-0ed a 10 people small event with Abzan Counters Company. I have the cards to play the Bant variants (bant counters company, bant company, bant knightfall, vizier knightfall), but never tried those because they all seem worse on paper.

At that event I played against Eldrazi Tron, Grixis Delver, Naya Company (with renegade rallier and stuff like seal of fire MD) and Jeskai Control (with MD queller and geist). I believe Reflector Mage may be huge in the Eldrazi Tron matchup, perhaps also against Grixis (DS or Delver, both have big delve threats), but with all the removal Grixis and Jeskai have, cards like Kitchen Finks, Sin Collector and Voice of Resurgence are very good, demanding 2 cards from their hand to get rid of them. Abrupt Decay is also really nice against Delver, Death's Shadow and Spell Queller.

Against Storm, I'm not sure which one seems better: Bant - Spell Queller or Abzan - Sin Collector/Tidehollow Sculler. Also, with 4 Chord of Calling, finding Scooze and Eidolon of Rhetoric becomes easier with Abzan.

TL;DR: Is anyone experienced enough with BOTH Abzan and Bant variants of the Vizier combo to bring any conclusions of why choosing one over the other? Abzan feels good to me right now.

4 Rounds. 10 games. 3 chalices for 0. 1 Platinum Angel. 2 Ghost Quarters. Some Thoughtseizes. And the worst: 3 hands with double amulet that did not win the game for not drawing into a bounceland or a titan. Guess it's time to give this deck some rest for a few weeks...

If I were you resmaster, I'd consider dropping the 4th Azusa for the 3rd Explore, and potentially the 4th Relic for the 1st Courser. I think that gives you a better game vs midrange anyway, and a little more utility.

First of all, thanks for the suggestions =)

Those were things I was considering... and also playing Hive Mind (I used to play one MD until a few weeks, and it won me a couple ok games vs Gr Tron and GDS). But I'm quite reluctant in dropping the relic because we have 3 regular GDS players, and this week we also had 2 Living End players. Maybe I could drop 1 Azusa for 1 Courser of Kruphix, but I'm not sure I need a grindier game with 2 Trackers + Tusk + Chameleon SB, and we have few midrange players around here.

As I do not own any Groves, and with the rise of Blood Moon, Path to Exile and Ghost Quarter, I'm currently playing 1 Forest and 1 Ghost Quarter in place of 2 Botanical Sanctum. I also exchanged 3 Serum Visions for 2 Explores and the 4th Relic of Progenitus.

    Current list, nothing too crazy:

I'm not playing Ruric Thar because there are only two Storm players around here (one of them is me) and one Lantern player. I'm almost surely cutting Leylines off because I don't think we need them, and every game I've put them in I never drew them --'

Yeah I won't be at Prague unfortunately, but will be at GP Birmingham (since its in England). I dont get to travel much for my MTG fixes!

I've noticed an uptick in land-hate recently. Last night I played against a main-deck blood moon deck, and a magus of the moon deck. Even if you take out the blood moon match-ups, it does feel like there's a few more disruptive elements kicking about. Ghost Quarter is in the main for UW Control and Hatebears, which are both on the uptick. There's been a very noticable change in my results lately, and i'm struggling to put my finger on why. But it does seem like there's a few more harder match-ups at present.

That is true. Mono white hatebears (or death and taxes, whatever) is seeing a lot of play, and plays 4 quarter + 4 Tectonic Edge + 4 Leonin Arbiter to delay Tolaria, Pacts and Titans. Some people are playing Blood Moon again, and, as I said a couple of posts earlier, Fulminator Mage is the most annoying thing coming out for Jund. I'm still playing 3 Serum Visions + 2 Botanical Sanctum (do not own any Groves), but lately I'm considering exchanging those for 3 Explore + Ghost Quarter + 3rd Forest (extra early land drops + extra forest to be fetched from quarters and paths).

@resmaster Jund is hard for me too. Pithing Needle is really your only option for Fulminator, but it'll be hard to find room for it in a crowded sideboard. As davius mentioned above, Explore is great against BGx decks, especially Fulminators, to keep you ahead in the attrition game, but if you aren't on the Groves/Explore build that won't help much. I think your best hope is to try to kill an early Bob/Goyf or keep the graveyards clean with Bog or Relic, then Fulminator hurts less since they don't have an extra swing with Goyf or card from Bob, then play around Lili by making sure you always have an extra creature to sacrifice (Plant or Scout). Their best draws are hard to beat, and I think boarding out most or all of scouts and amulets is probably correct, so your nut draws are not an out either.

Yep, I agree. If I could kill an early bob/goyf, that would be ideal. But it´s a little hard for it to happen. Regarding Lili, I'm not too worried about her -2 ability. What actually annoys me is the +1 after being fulminator mage'd and the -6. Once we lose a land to a fulminator and start having our hand shredded by Lili it's pretty much impossible to assemble a titan to hit her =/

Am I the only one having trouble with the Jund match up?

They just seem to have fulminator on Turn 3 every single game, followed by Liliana on Turn 4, which sets us back so hard in the game that I can't pressure the planeswalker and it ends up ultimating and leaving us with one or two lands... I win every G1 and lose A LOT of matches against this deck.

I'm thinking on cutting 1 Gavony Township (still 2 remaining) for a Ghost Quarter to try to improve my Tron matchup a little. I play a 2/2 split of Ralliers and Witnesses, and those 4 cards can get GQ back. Also planning on having 2 Fulminator Mage + 1 Surgical Extraction on SB, and replacing 2 Tidehollow Sculler for 2 Distented Mindbender.

The question is: is it worthy? Will that actually provide a chance on beating a "regular" Tron draw (nut draws are impossible, I know)?

@ Resmaster - first off, the game is favoured, but not by that much. In essence, jund doesn't have any really terrible match-ups, its just the way the deck is built.

Having said that, they need a number of things to go right to win. First off, a turn 1 discard is fairly important for them. If they can take a key card early, it can set us back. Second, they usually need either a turn 3 fulminator or lili, and without either, they're very unlikely to win. Bob is the best card in their deck though, so if they resolve that on turn 2, they have a much better chance. 1 fulminator is beatable, and 1 lili is usually beatable... but combine all their best cards, and we will loose a good % of games.

There deck is built to have the T1 Discard, T2 Bob/Goyf, T3 Lili, but it's not going to happen every game. If they god-hand, fair enough, take it on the chin. If they don't, we'll give them a pretty good game.

I pretty much only play amulet in paper, and my only local mate pretty much just plays jund. I probably played this match-up more than any other magic going. And its fairly tight honestly. The reason we say its favourable is this - IF they can't keep you off your titan, you will win 90% of the time. That's why it usually feels good.

my only tip is to try not to mulligan. Trust the bad 7 before looking for a good 6. You are much much more favoured on the play too, where lili is a little more manageable.

Yes, I tipically try not to mulligan against jund at all.

I guess I just got unlucky, the guy had turn 3 fulminator mage both games, an extra fulminator mage later, and even got one back with K. command. He only played one Bob, and that was in game 1, to chump block my baloth. Actually, G1 was quite nice. I played forest and Scout on turn 1, he played IoK and left with nothing but lands and a pact. I drew Growth Chamber, played tolaria tapped and passed. He played Thoughtseize on turn 2, so I played pact for Baloth, put Baloth in play, vialed in SGC returning Forest, and with the pact trigger on the stack I vialed the forest back to pay and start the beats with baloth =)

Do you agree with Fortanelly's SB plan of siding out all 4 amulets?

Once again I lost to Jund. This match can't seem to be as favorable as most people say =/

I won game 1 fairly easily. On games 2 and 3 I got fulminator mage'd 5 times, discarded dozens of times, and beaten by Scooze + Tarmogoyf both games. I was never able to play a single Titan on those games =/
I was playing almost exactly the same list as Fortanelly's (courser of kruphix instead of 4th azusa and crumbling vestige instead of 1 botanical sanctum) and my sideboard plan was also close to his: out 4 amulets, pact of negation and cavern of souls, in Sigarda, Baloth, hornet queen, firespout, bojuka bog and mortuary mire.

If we do not have a good opening hand and mull to 6, we'll most likely lose a card to IoK/Seize, and it seems we are already pretty much behind in that game =/

As said before, we need G and U on turns 1 and 2. Botanical Sanctum is the best choice. I'm using a 1/1 split of Sanctum and Crumbling vestige because I still find relevant the ability to make colored mana off a Titan without an amulet in play.
