Please stop talking about Choke as if it's a real concern, Choke hasn't been a thing since Splinter Twin was banned and the same applies to Boil. Having basics for Blood Moon, Ghost Quarter, Field of Ruin, Path, Solemn, ... is a much bigger concern than Choke/Boil. You will have to fetch basics or rely on basics every other game. I haven't seen Choke or Boil in the last 1k matches played.
Ugin can die pretty easily to man lands, bolt + snap + bolt, detention sphere, anguished unmaking, maelstrom pulse, etc. The important thing about Ugin is when he hits the board you will always be able to remove their boardstate and they still need to answer Ugin... So he is usually a X-for-1 even when answered.
After some testing I think Field of Ruin is very strong, I like it a lot more than Ghost Quarter and a bit more than Tectonic Edge.
Other than that I really like 2 Supreme Will, it's not easy to know when to dig and when to just use them as a counter but the great thing is they can do both.
Walking Ballista has done some work for me vs D+T and GW Vizier. So many relevant creatures are 2/1s it's fun to ping them
By hitting a Remand that targets a Grapeshot (or any other situation where your opponent has two spells on the stack)
Against Shattering Spree, Gigadrowse
When your opponent goes all in on Empty the Warrens (Ritual, Ritual, Ritual, Empty)
When your opponent puts several abilities on the stack like double Tectonic Edge
Against on cast triggers like Ulamog, Worldbreaker, Sanctum of Ugin, Emrakul
yall hating on opt because of theory is funny... i was in the same boat, but i am open minded and will try things. i tried it and feel like it plays out better than it might seem on paper/in theory. just give it a shot! ... we dont rely on chalice, its not a crutch, we can win with 0 chalice! ...
Of course you can win with 0 Chalice, people win every day despite making bad deckbuilding decisions. Doesn't mean we can't use reason and logic when deckbuilding to get an advantage over those who just play "what feels right"
TKS seems so bad right now, ever since Shadow and Fatal Push became a thing. So often there will be efficient removal or a bigger creature on the board. As I've said many months ago: TKS is good when there is no efficient removal for it (no Push, Terminate,... only Path, Bolt) and TKS can dominate the board (no Goyf, Tasigur, Angler, Shadow, Reality Smasher... only 2/2s, 3/3s and such). We had that time for about a year before Fatal Push iirc but now is literally the opposite...
For Mono U Tron Opt is better than Serum Visions and Peek for sure. I still won't play it because I think it's worse than Anticipate/Supreme Will and blocked by Chalice. What you have to keep in mind is the actual cost of the card is higher in our deck than in many others. Blue mana is a scarce resource to us whereas we have some colorless mana to spare often enough. Therefore, the difference between "U" and "1U" for us is "smaller" than it would be for other decks. I think when you cast Opt you will very often have colorless mana left over anyway, as that is the case even with Anticipate and Thirst! If you have only one Island and two colorless mana would you rather cast Opt or literally any other blue spell we have? It's an easy question to answer. And then there is Chalice of the Void. Opt and Chalice make each other worse and I believe Chalice is very strong, definitely stronger than Opt. It's been strong almost the entire time since Treasure Cruise meta but it is also strong right now. I basically play some number of Chalice in every matchup except Coco decks and E-Tron.
You just crush UW control because it's a control mirror and we have card advantage through Chalice and Thirst, mana advantage through tron and better/more inevitable threats
What's your typical first 6+ treasure mage target for different match-ups Pierakor? Assuming nothing in hand and tron active.
Mine has been something like sundering against grixis and uw (scapeshift if they run that 5 color enchantment), wurmcoil against random aggro/burn, mindslaver against titanshift/affinity/tron/storm. I never pick plat angel as my first pick, minus a game 1 against infect.
It just depends so much on the situation. If you only have 1-2 cards in hand and Thirst in the yard it's Gearhulk.
Slaver if you have 10 mana and other stuff in your hand ( you wouldn't get slaver when you are hellbent without Ruins)
Wurmcoil Engine against decks that don't play Path to Exile
Platinum Angel when you are close to being dead or you think opponent cannot answer it easily
Spell Burst CAN be bought back because gearhulk's exile is not on resolution like flashback but a replacement effect for it hitting the graveyard.
