Pardon the newb question, but why is Dark Confidant so good? I understand that card drawing is good cuz it gives a player options during play...but this thing can really hurt you. Does it really speed up the deck that much? No I've never played with it before either.
Pardon me for being noob, but doesn't having protection black make it immune to all black spells even if it's a global effect. Pyroclasm doesn't effect it, so why would hideous laughter?
I'm playing G/W Aggro. And what happened was, I'm laying the beatdown on some guy, and he brings out Meloku. I can't get a single point of damage through because Meloku keeps producing tokens. Now eventually, he concedes because his lands keep going back to his hand and didn't have enough mana to run his combo. But Meloku bought this guy a good 3-4 turns to search for his combo cards.
I think I'll SB the war plow. I have BoP so I can pull some red mana out to activate it. Besides, I can just let the war plow sit on the side and watch my guys trample through the meloku tokens.
Is there an enchantment out there (type 2) that can give all creatures i control trample...similar to glorious anthem, but not +1/+1...just trample. I guess what I'm looking for is something similar to overrun or a permanent overrun. Ideas?
I have a simple g/w aggro deck. I picked g/w because of white's fast cheap creatures, and green for the pump up effect. I left MTG 5 years ago and now I picked the game back up. I don't have any of the new cards and I don't know any of the new combos. So I decided to go old-skool and go fast creatures. The deck isn't expensive as I am on a tight budget. About $50 bux is where I draw the line.
The deck goes like this:
2 Birds of Paradise
2 Llanowar Elves
4 Leonin Skyhunters
4 Watchwolf
1 Tolismir Wolfblood
3 Serra Angels
4 Kami of Ancient law
3 Courier Hawks
4 Selensya Guild Mage
I went in to last nights FMN getting hosed by greater gifts and magnivore decks. Does g/w aggro matchup well against these combo decks? I would win the first round, then after sideboarding, I would get hosed.
I don't remember what my sideboard is at the moment. But please help me with my sideboard and maybe offer some good advice when matching up against these combos. My area is very diverse. I've seen people play Gruul, greater gifts, magnivore, heartbeat, B/W control. It's all there.
Definitivly take out the angels in favour of hierarchs. Naturalizes are nice but might be best in the sb. you can also take out the seeds of strength and a growth to put in 4 faiths fetters. and then take out courier hawks and another strength for silhana ledgewalker. and if you want to go to a glare route wich I feel would be better then you could exchange anthems for Glare of Subduals.
Also as for lands getting more duals/pain is ofcourse nice and if you do you can use more city trees safley. and also I think you needs to use 22 or 23 lands.
Hierarchs over angels? But the angels are more evasive...The naturalizes are definietly SB.
yeah, I heard of the G/W glare decks. How does it work? You tap all their creatures then attack? how does glare help against combo matchups, ie heartbeat, greater gifts, etc. etc.
Right now, my strategy is just to our speed them...try to kill them before they establish a defense or their combo completes. Not sure if my strategy works or not...Is there a strategy against these decks?
Thanks for the critique. I'm waiting for naturalizes to come in the mail. I have them on order. Hokori's...that makes a lot of sense.
yeah I chose serra's cuz I was afraid that once I get to the metagame, I'd lose steam and they would have put up some kind of big blocker blocking my guys. Courier hawks cuz I felt ground was too easy to block...not enough evasive creatures. I have savy lions. Isamaru...nope...I can try to trade for them. I have 1 Loxodon, and 2 coming...what would you take out in place to put the loxodons in?

Oh and I don't own jittes, are there cheap substitutes I can use?
Glimpse the unthinkable must be played with twincast to be remotely useful.
Your ideal play goes something like this in a b/u/g mill:
Turn 1: Forest/Elf or bird.
Turn 2: island or swamp/Kodama's Reach for more swamp/islands.
Turn 3: Traumatize (enemy now has ~25 cards in deck)
Turn 4: Glimpse & Twincast (enemy now has ~4 cards in deck).
Turn 5: any mill spell ftw, or at the worst he's on a 4 turn clock.
If you can do it like that you have a prayer. Without twincast and green accel its too slow. You basically play U/G with black splash for glimpse.
Holy crap! Yup. Sounds like the ideal situation. But it sounds like a lot has to be right in order to get it working. What are the chances of this combo getting off properly?
Hello all. First off, I'm new on this board. I've played magic since 4th. I then stopped at about Tempest. And i just restarted so I don't know any of the new combos, or decks etc. etc.
Glimpse the Unthinkable is an awesome card. That plus traumatize will be wicked. But is this combination a winning combination? I've heard that traumatize decks are too slow to get off. You'll be dead before you can get through the guys deck. then I've heard that if done properly, you can eliminate the guys deck by turn 5 potentially. What are your opinions? If there is a combo/deck that uses Glimpse, please post.
FORCE OF WILL!!
Best counterspell ever! And I don't even need to spend mana to deny you of your win! It's so good, I feel I'm cheating every time I deny you with it. HAHAHA!
I'm sure I'm missing something here. Please educate me. Thx.
