what I see here wrong name the correct name is magus of the sheets
and this is a hair better too it’s 1 cmc for the activation vs the 3 for the land (but really creatures are easier to remove than lands) -

Gruul Storyteller posted a message on [KHM] Ascendant Spirit— Raphael Levy previewOther interesting thing is the last ability. If I am understanding it right, you can just keep activating it which gives her not only an additional +2/+2 in counters, but also another damage draw trigger.Posted in: The Rumor Mill -

Assuming you're happy to tap out each turn, cast nothing else, and are emotionally ready to eat a removal spell. -

Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
When Banin Sahr enters the battlefield, put a 1/1 white Citizen creature token, a 1/1 blue Camarid creature token, a 1/1 black Thrull creature token, a 1/1 red Goblin creature token, and a 1/1 green Saproling creature token onto the battlefield.
X, T, Sacrifice X creatures: Creatures you control get +X/+X until end of turn. You gain X life.

Grand High Sorcerer 2WUBRG
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
Whenever Grand High Sorcerer becomes tapped, it doesn't untap during your next untap step.
T: Counter target spell.
T: You may change any targets of target spell.
T: Target spell can't be countered.
T: Copy target instant or sorcery spell. You may choose new targets for the copy.
T: Add to your mana pool mana equal to target spell's mana cost.

It's a weird variant on it but White gets "sacrifice wraths" sometimes, see: Single Combat, Slaughter the Strong, Tragic Arrogance and Cataclysmic Gearhulk. Of course, the main difference here is that said "sacrifice Wraths" are usually variants on balancing effects, so I do agree with you it's definitely not the kind of effect White usually gets. I don't mind it that much though, it's a cool effect that plays well with White's go-wide themes.

Here's an idea: maybe the mechanic removes certain costs? For example, maybe Vampires will be able to gain stuff like "blood counters", or maybe "blood vials" which are the new artifact tokens mentioned in the article, and said "blood counters/vials" can be used as a substitute for life payments or creature sacrifices.

Also kinda weird how that 2nd effect is almost entirely equal to but not exactly Protection.

When you compare it to Werewolves having a set-defining mechanic using external cards, Spirits using DFC in a new and unique way or even Zombies using a keyword as a special property almost exclusively to tokens, and as a drawback no less, something that they know for a fact is a HUGE risk... I dunno, it just feels safe and uninspired, like they were doing the bare minimum with this mechanic.
