put this together and played it tonight a few games against a buddy, when it worked, it did decently. He was playing way non-standard so it wasn't completely a fair fight
Longshot Squad is probably the one most up likely to be nixed due to already having flyers, Titanic Growth I'm not fully sold on, Ainok Bond-Kin I would like to grab a couple more to put in. Not sure if I should put more ramp in or more add counter spells like Reap What is Sown
I did play a draft for Khans this past FNM and it was fun even if I lost all the games (my first ever draft) and even if I didn't end up with the rares I pulled (one being the U/R fetch) I at least got to get a couple rares out of it and it was fun.
Are you talking about playing for picks? I think that's different. (Basically redrafting the rares based on the winner of the draft. Where first place picks a rare, then second and on down). I've done that once or twice, back in the original Mirodin, it's how I got my Mindslaver for my Mirrodin set I believe, but the guy who opened Chrome Mox was pretty sore about it.
actually they said that Khans is the only one of the Block that is going to be wedge. And the way the story goes, I wouldn't be surprised if the the third set will change things up...but that isn't for this thread.
Fates Reforged sees Sharkon go back in time to right before the dragon's disappeared, saving Ugin and bringing him and the rest of the dragons forward in time to a point before Khans and the dragons take over the clans, thus leaving the clan structures in place, or slightly shifted away from the wedge structure.
However the issue with this I see is that they said the wedge structure was going to be Khans only. Though I can see them breaking the Khans up and in to 2 color combos and keeping the mechanics involved.
as for Dragons and M16 being a "block" it's only for the shift to the 2 sets and has nothing to do with the story, Khans will be the last 3 set block and they had to break it up somehow.

I played in an ante sealed deck tourny back in like '98 during the Urza block, to be honest I kinda hated it as I wasn't very good and it sucked having to give up the best card I got that night and left with just commons/uncommons.
I'm not terribly worried about the budget aspect, but you haven't given specific advice other than responding to Keor, and thats not overly helpful. You've said "good spells" then not mentioned them. I'll get more cards but I can't go drop a bunch of money on a box, I could get singles and probably will, but till then it's not a big deal
getting to enough mana in time was why I changed my mono blue Leviathan to U/G to get the mana dorks Elvish Mystic and Market Festival as well as the boost like Titanic Growth
