Its not a cycle, as the flavor text refers to it being a 6th "hidden" tower.

I personally would still steer away from the eldrazi. I feel like just pouring mana into omnath would be a better win con, but I haven't played in standard in forever. Maybe hes just too fragile. I guess with the warcaller you have another wincon.

Have you read Treespeaker? It takes a one mana investment. As long as it doesn't get killed turn two (which they could've done to your llanowar elves anyway), it paid for itself. You can level it up, and then make a turn two play.

And I suggested Ulamog, because it is the cheapest at 10 mana. You might not have time to get another 5 mana at that point. And, hes indestructible. That counts for something.

Take out urge for Garruk, and get rid of quest for renewal for joraga treespeaker (the new leveler that pumps out mana).

This way, you can have garruk, treespeaker, llanowar elves, and the archdruid for mana. Maybe harrows MD? I would just definitely put in treespeakers when they come out, because they just level themselves. Plus its "ultimate" can kick out an eldrazi very quickly.

If you can accel fast enough, use emrakul. If not use ulamog or kozilek. They are cheaper, and get the job done. Also, you can protect them with vines more easily.

EDIT: Yeah, the guy above is correct. I would keep the eldrazi out of this deck. Omnath can just gobble up that mana, or use wolfbriar elemental. Those two are alternatives that leave you less over-extended. If youre ramping up for an eldrazi, you have to have lots of mana dorks out, and one infest just ruins your day

  • posted a message on Anyone else think about death?
I personally believe that by having only a set amount of time on this Earth, it makes your life that much more meaningful. If you had forever to live, you would never be motivated to do most of the things you dream about doing, because you had all the time in the world. Life loses significance once you take away our fragility for lack of a better term. It is our short life span that fuels the live life to the fullest, and without "Time's winged chariot hurrying near" I believe I would lead a passionless eternal life.

Also as an above member posted, the constant pain of seeing loved ones pass again and again is unbearable for anyone with compassion to live through. And it never stops.

On death, I don't know what happens, and I haven't really thought about it too much. I don't know what happens and no one else does either.. All I have to say is don't spend your life fearing death, letting it become all you think about. It's going to happen and no one can stop it, so just use this time as best you can.

I would probably put some sort of restriction on trainer cards, like the once per turn clause that they have in place for some of them. That sounds like a fair alternative.

  • posted a message on [EDH] Dralnu, Lich Lord - Different approach
Ok so I have been thinking about making a 3rd EDH deck, and it was going to be snakes, but then I thought of zombies! I just did a quick search, and figured Dralnu, Lich Lord would be a good general. Would tribal zombies be viable in EDH? It could definitely be aggro control, abusing Dralnu..

So far I brainstormed a few creatures:

The spells are where I need some help. I want to have powerful and bomby spells, because Dralnu makes them that much better.

Thanks for any comments / suggestions!

Yeah I knew I was forgetting Computer Search. Wow that 10 Trainer rule definitely changes the game. My decks on the game boy were like 15-20 trainers.

But also Surging Chaos, there were tournaments held (pretty frequently I'm pretty sure) for these games, and some smart kids probably abused the hell out of these trainers.

(First off, if this doesn't belong here, please move it)

I was playing this old game boy game called Pokemon Trading Card Game the other day. It had the first generation pokemon cards (including the Jungle expansion, Fossil expansion, other expansions from around that time, and a few game boy only cards), the trainer cards from those sets, and the energies. There wasn't cyndaquil or later cards...

Now when I went to make a deck, I looked at the Trainer cards (for those unfamiliar with the game, you can play them only on your turn for free. You can play as many as you want per turn), and most of them are extremely broken in Magic terms. For example:

    Bill
    Draw 2 Cards.

    Professor Oak
Discard your hand (no max hand size in this game) and draw 7 cards.

    Pokeball
Flip a coin. If you win the flip, search your library for a Pokemon card, and put it into your hand.

Now the first thing I did was pack the deck with these broken trainer cards, and no matter what pokemon you put in the deck, it becomes incredibly easy to win. Prof. Oak can be played once you have dumped your hand of basic pokemon and evolutions, and nets you around 5-6 cards. String these together, all in the same turn, and you can sift through 20 cards easily in a turn.

I don't know if there are any restrictions on these cards in tournaments.. If there aren't then the game comes down to who plays first.

Has anyone else who played this game on the tournament scene noticed this? Have these cards been banned? Maybe I'm just looking at this through a Magic standpoint, and they aren't so bad after all.

I remember my cousin about 8 years ago finished his pokedex (we were trading between red and blue), and Oak game him a certificate. He was soo pissed! They shoulda worked on that a little more.

And smash bros is always classic.

Two weeks ago, I picked up my old GameBoy, and started playing Pokemon Silver. This game was easily one of my favorite games from my childhood, along with the two originals. Playing this game again brings back the memories of my 6 year old self playing the Elite Four over and over to get a Feraligator up to level 100.

What are some of your favorite childhood games? Would you still enjoy them if you replayed them?

    Someone mentioned Dovescape earlier.

One of my faves with Dovescape is Boseiju, Who Shelters All + X Spells. You get X birds, plus a spell. All for the convenient cost of 2 life.

  • posted a message on Gas prices expected to hit $4 a gallon by 2010
Personally, I think that rising gas prices are good for our country, and (on a larger scale) the world overall. The rising prices push innovation and invention more than most other factors could, and independence from foreign oil countries is an ideal outcome.

In addition to that, a cleaner alternative to gasoline could be discovered, and that is definitely something that needs to happen soon.
