I like all of it except 1 thing: Enchanting equipment. I feel that mechanically and flavorfully for it to be relevant you'd need enough equipment in the set to distract from what seems to be the sets focus, you would also need a majority of that equipment to be fairly vanilla or overcosted (as per your example) or why bother enchanting it, and... just feels counterintuitive to me, as if one is defeating the purpose of the other. But thats just my initial gut feeling. Maybe with more input from others in defense of the idea I could see the light.
We are at 105/264. The naive part of me is hoping that we will get at least some sort of Illusion creature and hopefully one that doesn't have the whole "dies when looked at" ability too. Invisible Stalker should have been an Illusion.
I wish Invisible Stalker was an illusion only because I'm an illusion fan, but hes supposed to be the classic Invisible Man, which is pretty darn cool to see on an MtG card.
I believe we'll see illusions in Innistrad(the Block/one of the 3 sets). I believe their flavor will even make sense with, 'if you target me I die' text. Imagine something terrifyng, unknown, but once you build up the courage to face it, harmless. That'd be a cool INN illusion.
alConn "My opinion, his shirt doesn't make sense, I'm confused on the utility of it, beyond its emo perfection." lol, utility. Cuz most MtG female creatures show off their T&A for the functional purpose of distracting their male opponents into bloody death
Two things. The dudes look like they're going to a Goth/Industrial club in Ybor/Tampa I used to go to often. In fact the background dude looks like one of the club's pedestal dancers o_0 With that out of the way, if the flashback mass hate we've seen for innistrad so far is as good as mass hates going to get for this block, then army accumulation may be viable.
I understand their desicion, but don't fully agree with it. Should any given set have both hex-proof and shroud in it at the same time? NO. Should core sets have shroud? Probably Not. Should shroud get the axe because hex-proof is nicer? NO. I've been Mind-Slaver-ed enough to appreciate shroud on my beats. The existence of shroud AND hex-proof should serve as an example, like the existence of shadow and flying, and be used appropriately to avoid confusion. Cutting shroud is just lazy and dumb.
I think what drakeavril is getting at is that Magma Spray is underpowered by comparison to Lightning Bolt, therefore it might be a fair card if it dealt 3 damage instead of 2. Unfortunately I don't think WoTC wants Lightning Bolt to be the measuring stick by which all burn is judged, so I doubt we'll ever see a Magma Spray functional reprint that does 3 instead of 2.
I think Essence Scatter can be replaced by a Spell Pierce variant.
Summon Tax. Instant, U (1) Countertargetcreaturespellunless its controller pays {2}.
I think Twincast can be replaced by a Desertion variant.
Reversal. Instant, 2UU (4) Counter target spell. If an instant or sorcery spell is countered this way, you may copy it. You may choose new targets for the copy.
I really don't see why Divination would be given the boot unless they've decided its too weak to represent Blue's ability to draw. I would just replace it with Concentrate.
Planar Cleansing should really be replaced by DoJ, but given the way sets rotate now, my vote's on Hallowed Burial.
I wish Deathless Angel was an obvious tournament staple so she could get maximum attention and expose even more ignorant shallow hypocrisy.
The art on the promo elf is quite easy on the eyes. Its almost a shame it wasn't used on a cooler elf card. I don't understand on what merit some of the others got promos, but as long as someones happy to see them promoed.
I love the idea and I'm glad WoTC was overly cautious in their execution, but it'd help if some of the levelers gained shroud with their second or third evolution if/when the mechanic is ever used again. Its a kick to the groin when you've invested mana into your creature's evolution just to lose it to cheap removal or bounce.
I think Affinity, as a mechanic, could return. Just in a less broken fashion. IE, affinity for landtypes worked very nicely. Affinity for creatures shouldn't be too huge. Heck, even good old affinity for artifacts is fine as long as they're careful what cards it goes on.
I think affinity has a very good chance of returning also, but not affinity for artifacts. Affinity for lands would make for a nice transition following a 'land matters' block, and since we only ever got one example of affinity for each basic land type, I'd say there's some design space left to be explored. I think we'll see the affinity for basic lands guys return, with some new friends.
I think instead of Lightning Bolt we will see some combination of shock/char, or incinerate/char. I can't remember which article I read it in, but it implied that the return of Bolt isn't necessarily meant to be permanent.
"Pretty damn good for Limited control"
Agreed on Narcolepsy. Those Eldrazi, even the commons, would not be fun to stare down w/out more decent common answers.
It could be worse, they could be functionally reprinting Cancel xP TE is a very solid fetch land tho, so the more the better I say. My singleton decks won't complain.
