The End of an Era
  • posted a message on Troll Ascetic : Bomb or Dud?
With everyone going on about Troll now having to deal with ***s and Damnations. I'd like to point out that even during the spot removal era of terrors and boomerang, troll still had to deal with Wraths and other mass removals.

Granted they weren't as potent as they are today where there are two versions of wrath and the less threatening evac but for me I think that makes troll even more of a threat card. Players will have to waist a wrath that could have been used on a bigger grouping of creatures just to kill one troll and if you're playing against someone who's playing evac, it's only 3 mana and if three mana hurts you and you're playing mono green, you my friend have the worst land to spell ratio I've ever seen. As for pyroclasm, a single forest solves that problem. Sure the troll's tapped but it won't be a problem.

Wow, they really kicked it up a notch with the artwork. I'm lovin' the new artwork for Squee.

  • posted a message on June 1st Bannings
I remember a while back on an ask wizards where I think it was MaRo or Aaron talking about how they play test cards to make sure there isn't anything over powered that will be printed but they mainly do it for standard and extended. They mentioned they really don't do it with legacy or vintage much which now is kind of ironic.

As for dragonstorm as it has been said, it's too situational to be banned and with the next rotation it will lose a good chunk of what made it work.

don't know if anyone's mentioned this.

Fun combo for casual would be Gibbering decent + madness cards + any of the pacts = free spells and no losing.

dralnu was able to be made competitive and in essence, the spell weaver does almost the same thing, I said it before and if it hasn't been said here, I think dralnu decks got a new cardslot.

Also, I agree with the Wee Dragonauts deck aswell. Especially since there's a lot of stuff in FS that would go great in it.

  • posted a message on idea on Planeswalkers
Not sure if a thread about this has already been made but anyways. We know atleast most of the set thanks to the checklist and number crunch, yet we haven't seen anything that would be a planeswalker... Atleast not on the checklist. An idea popped up in my head about that, perhaps the planeswalkers are like a mix of Super Secret Tech and Time Shifted, in that either they are in their own set or not even numbered and like super secret tech, you'd be lucky to get one in a box.

    It's an idea. Thoughts?

Bogardian is better but it's only really played in DS and this set already has several things that hose that. I think this one has a lot more potential in tron and maybe after rav rotates out.

I agree. It screams Timmy but I think a johnny will figure out how to get it out early and a spike will figure out how to make it competitive. They did for DS

it'll have a slot in tron me thinks. Casual will love it. I love it. It'll be hard to get out in limited but for those that can. Good game.

  • posted a message on [FS] Force of Savagery
You can play him on turn two if you want to dump him, You wouldn't unless your playing reanimate but you could. Who knows, there may be a land in this set or another set that gives creatures +0+1 or +1+1 or even -1+1, then he'd be played in green three ways to sunday.

definitely a Johnny card. I could see it in casual. As for too situatonal, so was dragonstorm at one point, hopefully there will be something that goes with it in this set to make it nice in casual along with the other cards that can work with it.

  • posted a message on [FS] Keyword Ability: 'Lifelink' 'Wizardcycling' and 'Fateseal' (Rumored)
Fateseal sounds intriguing. Possibly where if something were to happen to you or a permanent you control, the same would happen to your opponent or a permanent they control

    such as:

    Fate creature

    2bb

Fateseal - if this would be put into a graveyard from play, choose a creature target opponent controls, that opponent sacrifices that creature.

if that's the case then limited just got a lot more interesting.

  • posted a message on Will timestop be played in Dralnu?
I could see it as a side board card for later games. As for main decking, it's kinda iffy. As mentioned before, the cost of tutoring for one and playing it which you'll need atleast 9 mana to do plus the fact there are cards that cost less that are just as effective.

  • posted a message on Green chase rare in [X]
Not a hundred percent sure on this but I think Manabond could make for some nice synergy with Madness given pitching your hand but I haven't played an actual game in a few months thanks to college and work. But I doubt it would be in 9th.

As for hippie, isn't he still seeing play in bob control legacy?

Maybe utopia tree again? Though not exactly a chase rare, we saw it in 9th and it's a less powerful version of BoP.

  • posted a message on Possible "better than mountain" land in FS
I can see Teferi's isle making it in flavor wise among other reasons and the same with Kher Keep as the "better than" red land of sorts if we're giong somewhat in flavor wise.

As stated before, green is still an option because of pendle haven but if we're looking for activated abilities, then it's possible we might get a black land because Urborg made everything into swamps in addition to what they were and didn't have an activated ability so much.
