A very good counterspell and will definitely see play. Since so many of you are crying terrible about this, let's see what it doesn't hit in some of the most played decks.

The only creatures it doesn't hit in Abzan at the moment are Wingmate Roc and Tasigur, the Golden Fang.

The only creatures it doesn't hit in Mardu Dragons / RB Dragons is Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury.

Esper Dragons is fairly safe from this as it only will hit Jace, Vryn's Prodigy.

Jeskai Tempo it doesn't hit Dragonlord Ojutai.

RG Devotion it only misses Whisperwood Elemental and Dragonlord Atarka.

I wouldn't say it's bad when it hits and exiles 90% of the creatures seeing standard play.

Times change, and I think you're judging the power level of this set before half of it is even spoiled. It's also good for the game for the power to shift, if all they ever did was print a new version of Llanowar Elves and Wrath of God, this game would get stale very quickly. If you want to play those cards, there are formats that support them.

They are staple aspects of the game. Llanowar Elves for example brings the decision "should I kill the elves or save my removal for whatever he brings out with the elves?"

Wrath of God existing brings the decision "Should I take the risk and over-extend to go for the kill next turn or should I hold back and play conservatively in case he has a Wrath of God?"

Removing basic cards like mana dorks or effective 4 mana sweepers eliminate choices and do nothing but make the game simpler, and turn it in to "Magic: The Midrange Creaturing"

And those aspects are still in the game. Leaf Gilder and End Hostilities offer the same scenario as the one you described. The power levels have just been shifted.

So actually after re reading the merfolks ability... Can you keep targetting the same land with him and awaken cards? There does not seem to be a restriction as the land you animate before is still a land so a legal target. If that's the case this is much better then i was thinking it is. One of the reasons for that is eating a mass removal spell and loosing all of your lands but if you can keep making one land bigger that's a lot better. Even more so if it's a man land as you can still turn them on and change they're size and abilities, this and the hexproof land will be great even if it only targets once you're still getting a 3/3 that becomes a 6/6 hexproof whenever you want.

Yes you can target the same land over and over again, same with the Awaken mechanic.

This suggests we'll see Ugin as a creature card this time around or in Oath of the Gate Watch.

For any trade six cards and under I do three cards into a penny sleeve upside down, inserted into a toploader. After that I use a square of piece of paper to cover the opening and tape it down to top loader with small pieces of scotch tape.

I've been slowly building up several modern decks with the cards from my wants list as well as filling out playsets of standard. People will trade anything and everything on Puca. It does take some time but you'll get them.

Hey everybody. There were some runaway processes on the back end. Our technologist took it down to help get them resolved. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully it will be back by the time you read this. Smile

I find it rather odd that their site didn't automatically redirect to the maintenance page until a little bit ago. There wasn't anything on their facebook or twitter pages either. One would think that with the beta going live there would be a bit more fanfare and letting people know that a major change was underway, then again they might want to surprise us. /shrug

    Glad to hear it Stooge!

I'm actually sending out a couple foils on Monday, one being Satyr Wayfinder and the other being Gleam of Battle. The only problem I have with the common / uncommon foils is finding someone who wants enough of what you have that also wants them as well. Usually you see people foiling out an EDH deck or Cube and aren't really looking for what you might have.
