Deckstats has had this at lease since Aether Revolt.
I know I was brewing with Renegade Rallier on there site maybe 1-2 hours after it was previewed, and this spoiler season they had Gideon of the Trials up almost instantly when I tried to brew.

Feb 22, 2012Kueson posted a message on UG Generic DredgeI already have, and every card you listed omit Trackers is sub par on many levels to other options we posses.Posted in: Kueson Blog
Flat out, creature based, activated ability milling is a bad idea. About the only time its "ok" is against a heavy control meta where you have the time to spend a few turns selectively milling yourself. In most cases, simply bum rushing your graveyard with mass amounts of cards as quick as possible, will net you greater results in the long run. Not to mention, if you just make 30+ cards in your deck creatures, selective milling looses all value because your draws will almost always be great cards for any situation your in.
I made this comparison in the standard dredge thread,
Merfolk Looter - Screeching Skaab
- Looter cannot mill the turn its played. (And needs 3 turns to mill as much as skaab.)
- Skaab mills 2 the moment it hits the field.
- Looter cannot attack or block because it needs to tap to actively mill.
- Skaab can attack and block at will, because his mill is over with. He is a means of damage and preventing damage, with the hopes he hits your graveyard to be of even more use!
Civilized Scholar - Armored Skaab
- Scholar cannot mill the turn its played. (And needs !!!5!!! turns to mill as much as skaab. Plus thats only if you do not attack with him. If you do attack, he takes an extra turn just to regain his tap ability!)
- Skaab mills 4 the moment it hits the field.
- Scholar cannot attack or block at will because it needs to tap to actively mill.
- Skaab can attack and block at will, because his mill is over with. He is a means of damage and preventing damage, with the hopes he hits your graveyard to be of even more use!
When you consider all of those factors, cards like Merfolk Looter, Civilized Scholar and Deranged Assistant really lose a lot of there face value.
Likewise, Forbidden Alchemy is just a bad, BAD card. There are SOOOOO many better milling options out there, you could literally pick any one of them and probably end up in better shape. Mulch, Dream Twist, Thought Scour, Faithless Looting and Shriekhorn all come to mind before I would ever consider seriously running an alchemy. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

So.. what do ya think? Be honest and please... any ideas to make it slightly beter in any way?
Edit: What say Foil makes an apperance in here? Toss an island and a big creature (a plus) and counter a spell? Sounds like it fits.
------At the beginning of EACH upkeep, tap 3 lands and add 1 colorless mana into your mana pool or Dakkon Reborn deals damage to you equal to the amount of lands in play.
------Manapools do not empty at the end of phases.
------Dakkon Reborn's power and toughness are equal to the amount of mana in your mana pool.
Red green would be a neet idea... His original colors were Black, Blue, White, all the colors hes not... Making "one step further" kinda of creature from Dakkon Blackblade...
One could even go as far as create a new style of card. Lets call it "Upgrade" for now. In where, say in a serious, they reprint alot of favoret creatures, then make spesific upgrade cards that read:
------ This card can only be played if _____________ is in your hand or on the field.
------ Bound X (As long as _____________ is in play, you may play this spell for free. This card is bound to ___________, the creature cannot preform any action untim X turns are up. )
------ "Effect"
Dakkon Reborn 4WUUB

Legendary Creature - Incarnation

-Ability 1- At the beginning of your upkeep, tap 3 lands and add one colorless mana into your mana pool or Dakkon Reborn deals damage to you equal to the amount of lands in play.
-Ability 2- Manapools do not empty at the end of turns. This effect dose not end even if Dakkon Reborn leaves play or is removed from game.
-Ability 3- Dakkon Reborn's power and toughness are equal to the ammount of mana left in your mana pool.

This brings up some some problems in using him. His mana cost, not only is it realy high, but 3 color. Not only that, but your opponent can screw you over by destroying your lands. Plus side, your mana pool will not empty again. Even more, this creature grows with mana in your pool. Awesome.
Well what ya think... (Note, green is not in his cost and using green to make alot of mana to grow him would make the deck 4 color, and probaly hard to play... But oh well.)

9th Ed Rare..?
WTF!?
Descuss
(Sry if this may have been previously posted, just searching gatherer and found that odd.)
Hey... think theres a casual style deck i could build around him..? Hah
Dakkon was the first rare I had ever busted... Molimo the first Legend (Outside of Legands... That dosent count...) i had ever busted. I also find it funny that those 2 cards share a similer effect.. Heh. ANyway, Ive collected over 20 each, but I realy only want one collecters card. What should I choose? What card would you find shocking if I pulled out a binder and it had page after page of nothing but ___________?
Opp Life: 10
Opp Field: 6x Randam 1/1 Goblins | Goblin SharpShooter.
My Life: 5
My Field: 7x 2/2 Zombie Tokens
Now, he attacked me, with all but sharp shooter, and said his Sharpshooter could untap on each death. I argued he couldnt, but he also held a good argument, so i jsut let him have it. (But hey, i still won 2/1 so it was all good.)
But i ask, is he or me right? I thought that all damage was assigned at once and they all would hit the GY at the same time. In which case, he shouldnt be allowed to untap and re tap should he?
