@mastadon: i just like the odds of having 5 lands in my 1st 12-13 cards much better. especially considering the 4 fetchlands makes it much more difficult to draw lands. i find that the deck has the perfect amount of lifegain to support 4 fetches and 4 bob. i dont really notice the infinitesmally small amount of life per game by having a 25th land. what i do notice is our lands atually do things like attack (raging ravine + treetop village) so theyre open to removal. now the key is replacing those lands in a mid to late game scenario, i feel like having that extra land is completely worth it. typically were running the same number or a few more lands than all other decks. now lets say we trade one each (tectonic edge), were more likely to be playing multiple spells turns 6-8 with that extra land in the deck. especailly when bob sticks for 2-3 turns.
think about the most efficient/best plays we can make in the first 5 turns (typically all games run minimum 5). its going to start off with t2 bob. mix in a goyf/finks and blightning/pulse/bolt for a few turns. But we're probably going to have an extra spell or two to play by turn 5, playing 1 spell a turn. If we hit mana drop # 5 & 6 (25 lands ensures this), were most likely going to be playing 2 spells each turns 5 and 6. something like turn 5: Goyf, terminate, play man land. turn 6: bloodbraid and play green geist, essentially winning the game by a lot.
With that kind of unprecedented board advantage, no deck can recover. it would take back to back to back wrath of gods, to survive something like that. or some ineffecient spot removal. The game plan of the deck is to have overwhelming board control and win with beats. if an opponent spends too much time playing draw spells and/or spot removal, we will have better board prescence turn 5-6 guaranteed. thats when something like grim lavamancer, man lands, or swords can win the game outright.
now with Your GX colorbase u can add your other colors add the bulk I really like pentad prism and channel the suns here. also things like manamorphose might be good. also kaleidostone is prolly worth running too. i would stay away from joiner adept because your going to want to sweep early creatures which almost every deck in modern has.
So i Had been messing around with erayo lately, and i was testing the traditional build with BoP, Ninja of the Deep Hours, Ornithopter, and repeal, when i stumbled on a theory of using some early pressure and gProbe to back an opponent into using mana on my creatures turn 3-4. That gives any player a free turn to pretty much do whatever u want with 4 mana. some decks play bloodbraid elf, others wrath of god. i propose playing and flipping erayo in a tempo base UG deck that can play 1 creature and use erayo as legacy decks used to use Standstill. as a counter wall to sit behind and protect 1 creature all the way till the finish.
Also i feel like this is THE perfect deck for grim lavamancer, if someone wants to test a Ugr list. lightning bolt would be dominant too. but all that would distract the erayo theme a lot.
no way 25 is right. if u ever cna't hit a 4th land drop where u shoulda been able to play bloodbraid, ur playing this deck wrong. i never ever have troubles with 25. especially since the man lands/edges are gonna die/trade sometimes. its important to not lose to an opponents edge.
also @sathorix, how many times do u bloodbraid into TZ/inquisition? how overrated is that? whenever that happens to me, i literally groan...
guys, my list is gonna support the thereoy that if u can control the board, ull win the game. nad lili is good, iknow, i only think shes effective in the midrange UXx MU.
Playing extra creatures like i do, my 8 removal cards isn't ample, its efficient. bc my game strategy is usually to trade their creatures with my undying ones.
What do people think of strangleroot geist in jund? i've been doing a bunch of testing and Inquistion/Thoughtseize MD were really overrated bc cascading into them turn 4 was almost always too late for them to be effective. i'd much rather hit finks of goyf or one of our sorceries. also the only MU i like liliana is UW midrange/control. I decided to go for a little different take on jund and smashed a bunch of creatures into the list. threw a sword in for good measure:
Bob with SoLaS is such amazing card advantage. its like +3 cards every turn for u. i wanna add eternal witness + profane command combo somewhere but the removal we have already is sufficient, and bloodbraid is profane's worst enemy.
I like geist because they either give u good CA or eat a path to exile so our finks/goyf/bob can stick around for the fight. molten rain is sooooooo nice. Land destruction is better imo then hand destruction in the current format. storm is just mediocre without ponder, so i don't really know if we need to be playing much hand d. although i wouldn't hesitate to add 4-5 combo of TZ and/or inquisition if u have a lot of storm in ur meta. playing these cards against control isn't as good, i've found, as running durable creatures like geist/finks bc u can't prevent all of their mass removal even though u may try. so i end up getting more CA from things with persist/undying. and the haste on geist supports the aggro theme of bloodbraid. for 4 mana (same as huntmaster), bloodbraid almost always deals 3-6 damage the turn u play it. so that turn 4 bloodbraid into blightning can many times blow out opponents, playing any deck.
Thought Scour is a more versatile card that it may first appear. Its more esoteric uses include the following - some of these have already been mentioned, and this is not meant to be an exhaustive list:
1. Cast it (targeting yourself) in response to a Delver trigger that reveals a card you don't want (e.g. a land).
2. Cast it (targeting your opponent) in response to an opponent's Delver trigger that reveals a card you don't want them to have (e.g. removal, Mana Leak).
3. Cast in response to an opponent passing the turn without action in order to flip Huntmaster.
4. Cast it (targeting yourself) as a combat trick if you have a creature wearing a Pike.
5. Cast it (targeting yourself) after resolving a Ponder and rearranging if you don't actually want the other two cards.
6. Cast it (targeting your opponent) after allowing your opponent to resolve a Ponder that is presumably being used to set up a Delver flip.
7. Cast it (targeting yourself) as a dig spell if you have a Snapcaster in hand but not the spell you need.
Etc. If you run spells like Lingering Souls that actually have flashback, then it gets even better.
i think the fact that it is a good snap target is also relevant here. if you only have 3 mana open and want to cast a snappy on the opponents without losing the flashback ability; you name scour.
meaning that the fact that it is a one mana instant is relevant. its aanother great option for that extra card draw in the deck.
I might give it a go. Two things I don't like about it:
1. Has to be the same as the card you want to cast, so I have to counter a creature to cast a creature.
2. It's 6 mana.
That said, I might give it a shot. It's just finding room for it...and that since it's an enabler, it doesn't actually DO too much on its own (other than counter spells, but at 6 mana it's much less appealing JUST to counter).
The thought of trolling an opponent is kinda funny though. Counter their Sorcery, cast your Day of Judgment...lol Or counter creature cast bomb. Either one really.
or counter a sorcery and play an unburial rites... or counter planeswalker and drop a gideon.
i want to say a 3 of include with 3 ravings, just because looting doesn't offer any card advantage beyond "choice picks" and it's sorcery.
it can make that opening 5 lander hand keep able, but it seems like a terrible top deck in the late game.
i don't really know, it just doesn't seem as good as it's hyped up to be.
3x looting, 3x ravings, 4x alchemy is the draw/sift i'd prolly go with. We could make this deck extremely GY reliant, but idk how good thats going to be with the new hate coming along.

2nd me thinks that u need black mana to make the bringers cost effective.
sounds like a green based ramp deck to me.
useful cards:
search for tomorrow
sakura tribe elder
kodama's reach
farseek
Terramorphic Expanse
now u need to pick a color with the mass removal u want.
red offers:
pyroclasm
firespout
sulfurous blast
white:
wrath of god
day of judgment
austere command
blue:
evacuation
black:
damnation
black sun's zenith
