I would love to have Undermine (or Counterspell), Cabal Therapy, Cloud of Faeries (although i know it won't happen. It could help the UB Faeries deck), but Wizards doesn't like the Tribe. Absorb

Hi guys. Long time lurker here. I want your opinion in this Mardu DS list:

I've been traying to make Mardu DS work for a while now, and this is the last iteration. The idea behind it is to try to make it as close as a Turbo Zerox deck as i can without loosing the "Mardu Pyro" soul of the deck. That's why i added the Mishra's Bauble to supplement the Street Wraith and the Faithless Looting.

I have some consideration to explain:
1- There's an argument to te inclusion on Manamorphose instead of the Mishra's Bauble, but with 17 lands, sometimes it can get a bit awkward if you draw a manamorphose in a 1 lander hand.
2- G/R Ponza is well played in my meta, thus the 4 basic lands.
3- To add the DS package i've cut the flex spots of the PWs , Collected Brutallity(That went to the board for Combo and Control MU) and Blood Moon. I also trim 1 Bedlam Reveler and 1 Young Pyromancer.

I haven't play many games with this configuration, but i am in need of some help with the mana base.

    I'm open to any suggestion.

(I apollogize for my English, it's not may native languaje)

I've been liking some Anticipate in my list. It works well with Snapcasters and fetches. The mana cost can be a little weird, but i think is very usefull for finding answers. Does anyone test the card before?

I've been playing Esper Faeries for a couple of weeks now... I mainly did it becouse i was unhappy with the removal that black offers (in comparition with other colors) so i decide to test the deck with the best removal in the format: Path to Exile. In addition i put in 2 copies of Azorious Charm, mainly becouse i thought that i can use the lifegain part of that spell, but actually i've found that the removal part was more helpfull. In the worse case, the charm just cycles itself, but the other to modes are relevant. I've play a more aggro version, with Scions, Stuters, and both cliques.
    My mana base is:

    3 Darckslick Shores
    3 Secluded Glenn
    4 Polluted Delta
    1 Flooded Strand
    1 Watery Grave
    2 Hallowed Fountain
    4 Mutavault
    2 Creeping Tar Pit
    3 Islands
    1 Swamp

As far i've only had trouble with the white mana in one game. And i've found that the life lost is manageable if i play intelligently.

I wouldn't add anymore white cards in the MD, i just want the Paths (the Charms could go out soon), i don't want to change the playstyle of the deck, i just want better removal. I would put some white cards in the SB, like Stony Silence, Rest in Peace, etc.

    I apologize for my English.

Thast why i said that Prowler can get awkward with a BB in hand. I wish WotC give us a decent one drop.. but that's not the case so far. I think that some people are understimating the "Tribal" part of the deck... Faeries is, at the core, a Tribal deck. I know that Snapcasters are great, i just choose not to play them.

Hi guys. i think yo really need to try out Oona's Prowler as a two off... Sometimes it can get awkward, specially when you have BB in hand for turn 2 play, but the body is relevant, and the effect isn't as bad as you may think. At best it hits for 3, and at worst takes a card from the oponent hand. I've been using two in my list for a long time now, and although is the first card i think in taking out wen i need to put something new in the deck, the same thought always stays in my mind: "I need more creatures", so i never cut it. I'm running a list with 3 Scion, 2 V. Cliques, 4 SSS, 3 Mistbinds and the 2 Prowlers. I don't use any Snapcasters or Kalitas, or Tasigur, i'm full tribal, just becouse thats the way i like my tribal decks. Until WotC prints a decent Faerie for us, i probably keep using the Prowlers.
On another topic, depending on meta, i don't think that AV is going to be that great for us... It does nothing for 4 turns. and takes a very important turn to set up. Unless the meta gets really, really slow, i don't see how can we use AV. we need to be proactive on turn 1. playing BB on turn 2 is always a gamble... when i play it's an internal battle between BB an the mana leak in hand. What i am saying with this is that we have the problem in turn two play, and now, with AV unban we have it in turn one as well.

    I apologize for my english.

O use 2 echoing truth in the main to light spirit tokens. Plus, it also can be used against other difficult cards.

That is the point I was trying to make. The real difference is do you want to go all in on tarmo and kird ape or not. To me the tarmo kird ape plan seems much slower and is going to give far less turn 4 and almost non-existent turn 3 kills if it is even possible without guide(I haven't run the math but gut check tells me no). The issue we are having is guide and her best bud taylor never do anything because the ground is becoming more clogged(more zoo decks and abzan has come out the wood works again), or decks are running a ton of removal.

If that was the point you were trying to make, that "Burn uses a specific kind of strategy that Nacatl doesn't fit into" you wouldn't be advocating Nacatl at all. If you believe that the board is being clogged with creatures, your Hasteless Nacatl isn't going to do anything to help because it will just run into blockers. If you're playing against a creature heavy deck, I'd side out Swiftspear for more Burn not take out Burn to add Nacatl. They can't block Burn.

About going all in on Goyf and Kird Ape: asking whether playing Zoo is a better choice than playing Burn is a valid question. If you want to take Burn and add Nacatl to it, you absolutely should go the rest of the way and play Zoo. That is the archetype that allows Nacatl to shine. Burn is not the archetype that allows Nacatl to shine. You said you aren't playing a "theme" deck, so I suppose you aren't playing Burn or Zoo. You must be playing Jund or some other kind of BGx Goodstuff. Burn requires you to conform to an archetype, otherwise it doesn't function correctly. You absolutely cannot say "we are in these colors, this is a good card in those colors, let's play it" because that isn't how Burn works.

Nacatl is run because of how mana efficient it is

Spark Elemental probably has a higher expectation value on damage than Nacatl does. Again, you need to hit 2/3 of the time you play it in order to get the equivalent of Shock out of Nacatl, and I highly doubt you get there. It will either die or get blocked by a Sakura Tribe Elder or stonewalled by a Goyf and you wasted 4-6 life to do a lot of nothing. We don't just play mana efficient creatures, we play creatures that impact the board immediately. Nacatl needs Haste. It is unplayable without it.

Wild Nacatl requires a different approach than a Burn deck. It requires a dedicated creature strategy like Zoo. It requires your opponent making the decision "do I kill that experiment one, the goyf, or the nacatl?" We don't have the capability of forcing that decision. It's frequent that Nacatl will be the only creature they're staring at and they'll just kill it and move on.

You are not properly analayzing Wild Nacatl, but rather blindly throwing it into the deck because it's green and costs 1. That's acting irrationally, as you claimed I am doing.

Both the burn decks in top 8 are running nacatl.

And 1 in 6 of the Burn decks in the top 32 at Dallas had Nacatl. Nacatl Burn decks are winning despite being handicapped by Nacatl, not winning as a result of it.

I love you man... For months i been against Nacatl in Burn, but it seems that people just want to make a great deck worse by adding a power creep instead of just play Zoo... Nacatl is bad in Burn!
