I am a little surprised he made the set was kind of expecting to be held back until Eternal Masters 2. Upshifted to mythic is no surprise at all. We all knew it was going happen because it happened to Dark Confidant.

That happened to Bob because mythics didn't exist in OG Ravnica.

It's still a $7-$8 card. At least going in, it has decent value. And many seem to be big fans of the art.

I'm curious what kinds of 0 and 1 CMC creatures will be in the set for this card to tutor up, otherwise it'll be kind of a waste.

    Previews tomorrow, GET HYPE!

Here's hoping we have reason to be. I need to see reprints of Liliana, Snapcaster Mage, Goblin Guide, and Kitchen Finks. Would love to see reprints of Scapeshift, Crucible of Worlds, Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, Linvala, Horizon Canopy, Damnation, Through the Breach, Craterhoof Behemoth, and Noble Hierarch. We'll see.

I think it would be criminal for there to not be a Cavern of Souls reprint, as the set puts heavy focus on the Innistrad block.

How would you guys feel about Omniscience being in the set as a blue mythic?

You think it's possible we get Tron? Would like to see modern framed black bordered Tron. Would also be a good place for an Ancient Stirrings reprint. Definitely needs it at its price.

Kinda want to give my $.02 on Modern as a format and MM.

First off, Wizards should never stop printing Masters sets. You know why? It's easy money. Not only are the packs 2.5 more expensive, but significantly less R&D has to go into the products. Hell, there's no real development beyond draft. There's no world to create, significantly less art has to be commissioned, there's no playtesting for Standard. The only real thing that has to be done is take existing cards and create a decent draft format for it. That's significantly less work, effort, and manpower than creating a Standard set. It's easy money for Wizards. And, honestly, Wizards could make a Reserved Masters set for $50 a pack and they'd sell out. There's demand for all of these products. The only problem for Wizards is they have to find a way to keep LGSs happy, as they're the middle men who connect the game to the players via events and the like. And, in my personal opinion, the only reason the RL exists is because the price of RL staples has gotten so high that any kind of reprint outside of a super limited promo would tank the value of RL cards so significantly that any LGS that has a decent amount of RL stock could lose thousands overnight. Of course that's just my personal opinion with no evidence of its being fact.

But back to Modern, the fact is there's demand for these cards. I think a huge reason why Masters sets aren't done in an unlimited print runs is because of how hard it would tank the value of the card. Look at a set like CN2 and the current price of Berserk and Show and Tell. Absolute tanked. Yes, packs are cheaper, but there are just so many of them. I think if Wizards were to do an unlimited print run of MM, the prices of cards would tank so hard and, again, would hurt the LGSs immensely.

For me, I think that the max a card should be is $100. I think that's the absolute limit for me and that's for cards like Masterpiece cards or promo cards. I think when it comes to regular non-foil cards, the max should be $50. It's a freaking piece of cardboard. And if you desire any amount of growth in the game, you have to make it accessible. Thankfully, Standard legal cards as of late just don't get that expensive, but when talking about eternal cards, even non-RL cards, they can get pretty damn expensive. And I think the only solution for this problem is to constantly reprint cards where they can slowly drop in price over time to the point that they could be printed in a CN2 style unlimited run set and not wreck LGSs.

The whole economy of MTG is really fascinating, and it's clear, despite what Wizards officially says, that they not only care about the secondary market, but make it a big focal point when designing products like these. But Wizards is stuck between a rock and a hard place. How do you create a product that satisfies the collectible aspect of the game while making it accessible to the common person? I'm not naive enough to ignore the importance of the secondary market. While I do think the RL has to go, I understand why it exists, and I firmly believe that it has nothing to do with legal issues. And I think it ties into Modern and other eternal formats.

The issue with Modern and Standard is that cards printed today just aren't good enough. Look at Modern as a format and look at the first 4 years (8th edition through the set before 10th edition, which I believe was the last set of time spiral block) and then compare that to the cards of the last 4 years (RTR came out in fall 2012 so I'll just use that as the starting point) and compare the Modern staples from the two four year chunks. Or, better yet, make Modern from 10th edition onward and look at the card pool. The fact is that Wizards would never print cards that were in the early days of Modern that are keystones to the format. And I'm not even talking about "too strong for Standard", I"m talking about how the cards just are not in Wizards' current design philosophy. Power creep is required to keep the game interesting. Players are going to get to the point where they'll ask why they'd play Standard when they could play with far more interesting cards in Modern and Eternal formats. Honestly, I'd like to see Extended return and I think it could really help the game. But that's just my opinion.

It's probably one of the only cards in the set that is potentially worth picking up as a pre-order thanks to the insane demand on it. Playsets of this thing are selling out so fast on E-bay that the next newest listers are putting them up for near 5 usd a piece. With free shipping, of course. I'm still in the mindset that it's best to wait until release to pick anything up as the meta wont be really shaped up until the promotional tour is over with. Still, I'm surprised how strong the small set is compared to the large one. Did Wizards intentionally cram everything good in the second half just to make sure they got sales after steam and stores in general have sucked the life out of everyones collective wallets? Rolleyes

It's the same with OGW, though not sure if it's just coincidence. I'm thrilled as someone who enjoys the game, but it does cause some eyebrow raising...

What really sucks about this card is that the only place they could really reprint this in a set is a Masters set. The fact is that Revolt, from a flavor perspective, is super limiting. It's not Bushido limiting, but I doubt it's as easy to find a place to effectively have the Revolt mechanic from a flavor perspective. I love the mechanic and I think there's some really cool design space in it, but it'll be tough to reprint. So get them while they're widely available. I'm super thankful it's an uncommon, but a few years from now this card could get very expensive for an uncommon.

You are not seriously complaining about reprintability of a standart uncommon when the set isn't even out yet?

How many printings has Path to Exile had despite the fact it's over $10? This card will be in high demand and could become very expensive in the future.

This is an amazing card and will be a staple in modern. Not sure about legacy or vintage, but I feel like it'll have at the very least SB play in both in some decks.

The fact you can enable revolt with fetches is absolutely absurd and makes this a real powerhouse. Even if it didn't have the revolt option it would be a really good card, but with that and the consistency of fetchlands makes this quite remarkable. Thank goodness this is an uncommon.

    Question about this card:

Say you have a lumengrid sentinel in play. You cast this card and it resolves. Does the sentinel's ability trigger twice? How does the timing work in that regard?

4 mana. Otherwise a broken as hell ability. Plus, it's not legendary so if you can get multiple out on the battlefield, it can be oppressive as hell.
