• posted a message on Can Replicate be Stifled?
It's that simple. I say that Replicate triggers before the spell even goes on the stack, so that even if the ability is countered by Stifle the copies still generate. My friend argues that Replicate goes on the stack, so that if the ability gets hit by Stifle no copies are made.

I explained to him that Storm is different because it's activated *when* you play the spell, not *as* you play it. He says it makes no difference.

The other thing is that I think Replicate is a static ability (though I'm not as sure on this one), while he says that nothing involving paying mana costs can be static, but is either triggered or activated.

Please help on this topic. Thanks.

    Quote from silvercut

also, very minor, but when you use apostrophes and quotation marks and long dashes, be sure to use the correct symbols. It looks much better.
    These symbols: —‘’“”
    Not these: -''""

In fact, just copy and paste —‘’“” into a txt document or somthing on your desktop or somewhere handy so you can just copy and use the correct symbol whenever you need it. That's what i do anyway...

Thanks for the advice, but what's the root of this advice? I don't see anything on the card with incorrect symbols that would prompt you to tell me to use correct symbols. Are you just giving me generic advice, or was there something on my card that made you say that?

Just wondering. In any case, I appreciate it.

Hello, and welcome to the very special preview of Terraphim Equinox!

Most of you are probably wondering what this thread is about. Well, I'll tell you: It is introducing the first set, of three, of the Terraphim block. This block, in turn, is the fictional product of me, PMega, and zefig!

Of course, normal disclaimers apply - Magic: The Gathering or any of its associated symbols are not the property of me nor of zefig, and neither is the art; only the specific cards themselves are the result of our innovation.

So, now that that's out of the way, the next question is: What is our block about? Naturally, our block does have a theme, just like all the real Magic blocks (and especially the newer, one-place blocks). In the Mirrodin block, artifacts dominated. In Kamigawa, it was legends; in Ravnica, multicolored spells were key.

Our block takes place on a plane called Terraphim, a small, peaceful planet covered with your usual swamps and mountains, plains and islands. But there is one big difference: Most of it is covered in forest and other lush vegetation. Much of the terrain covering Terraphim is ALIVE. In fact, the very planet itself is alive.

Lying in the very center of the world, helping to hold together the very fabric of the entire plane, is the Soul of the Equinox. This Soul governs the laws of magic on Terraphim. Its influence rises and falls seasonally; the magical beings that inhabit Terraphim recognize this cycle as the Equinox.

So what is the theme of the block? That’s right, we haven’t mentioned it. Well, when you think about it, what would a block set in a plane that’s alive focus on? The answer is a simple type of card, yet one that has never been given much focus.

    Lands.

Yes, the three sets – Terraphim Equinox, Inferno, and Inundation – all revolve around the power of lands. Not only that, but they focus on nature and its results on magic. The first set is green-heavy, while the second and third are red- and blue-heavy, respectively. (White and black get somewhat left out.)

In Equinox, the theme is the quick appearance, use, and recursion of lands. Green being the ultra mana-acceleration color, you’ll see many cards that boost your mana sources, as well as provide ways to revive lands.

And now, that’s enough background information about the set. It’s time you got a sense of how influential the role of lands is on Terraphim. Hopefully, what you’re about to see will require no further explanation – the readers should be able to understand that lands are no longer cards you just turn sideways to play other cards with.

More Terraphim previews will come later; it is still a work in progress, so don’t expect previews to come super-fast. Prereleases, er, are nonexistent.

    Enjoy.

EDIT: Finally, there are always preview articles coming. They are spread, between reader comments, throughout this thread, so unfortunately you'll have to hunt for them yourself. It shouldn't be too hard, however. Just look for the posts with large images.

Of course, if you just want to see the cards, and couldn't care less what we blathered about, just follow this link to the preview gallery. All the cards we've written about will go there. Have fun.

And finally, if you need to contact us, whether to flame, harass, praise, or present other comments or questions, send your email to Grand Provost Chazimos. Who is he? You'll find out soon...

Question: Does this set have a theme? Like multicolored for Ravnica, Spirits for Kamigawa, or (apparently) tempo for Time Spiral?

    Themes are important, ya knows.

EDIT: And also, where do you get those AWESOME images? I'm working on a block (yes, BLOCK) with my friend (and yes, it has a theme; I'm not a hypocrite) and we want pictures like that too... =p

Does anyone have the new full-art Champs frame? If not, it might be a good idea for experienced people to figure out how to get that to work.

If someone does have that frame, I may or may not have a card to render in that format.

Sorry Erad, I want the actual Wizard frame (Although yours looks nicer). =D

How long does it take you guys to make a card? And exactly what are the steps? I can't really tell from all your conversations and the tutorials how much work goes into one of these cards; I can only figure out that it takes a good while, but I can't figure out why.

Can you go through steps, and how long? Thanks.:)
