I get how "crappy" this card is but I know for a fact it's going in my Karador EDH and my Treva EDH. They both have lots of big tokens and will love it for slightly different reasons.

There's a pot for every lid.

Hi Skoonie, sorry I didn't get back sooner. I've been away from my computer the last couple of days. Looks like Legolax got a really solid response put together. I can only say that his advice looks even better than what I'd have to say.

Q Dryad used to be key card in a couple of different low land decks, and it strikes me that both delver and swiftspear want more cantripping instants than lands.

I would say Manamorphose is a 4 of as well and gut punch may be warranted; however rather than gut punch I would say 1cc Scry cards or cantrips may be a wortwhile approach rather than boosting your land count.

Ponyback Brigade worked surprisingly well for me, I played one flight went 3-1 matches, 7-2 games. Went Mardu but splashed G for Abzan Guide and Abzan Charm, both of which did me a tonne of good. At one Point I was sitting on 40 life between Guide Lifegain, and lifegain from Abzan Battle Priest.

At the end of the day though, the card advantage from Ponyback Brigade was very very useful.

I'd been debating dangerous wager, I think it's probably a worthwhile include.

So, I've no idea if this would be viable, but at least as a starting draft, it looks like it should be fun...

Dragon-Style Twins actually seems to make prowess fairly good and as prowess doesn't care about what spells you play (as long as they aren't creatures) I felt that this might be viable:

The general idea is to ritual into the twins, and then to get twins to 10/10 tramplers and win on T2. It's a magical christmas land T2 win, but it should provide

I know there's no manamorphose in there, and it probably could replace Apostle's Blessing but Blessing offers critical protection/evasion.

I'm rather chuffed about the interaction between Madcap Skills and the Twins, as +4/+1 and unblockable gets us most of the way there.

Gut Shot rather than lightning Bolt as T2 probably wants to look like Rituals, Probes, Gut Shots, and Auras. You're looking to play a lot of spells on T2 if possible.

There probably should be Pyromancer's Ascension, but I'm worried there aren't enough instants/sorceries to make it worthwhile.

That's probably fair to a point; it was more a comment about the spoiler strategy overall up till now.

I don't believe there's any less inherent "thingness" about Sultai charm than anything we would get out of Jeskai charm, so I don't see any reason why it couldn't have been the example of the new templating. Sultai Charm is definitely a thing.

What bugs me right now is that this would have been a great opportunity for them to showcase some Jeskai Non-Creature spells. (What sort of spells will you be playing to boost your Jeskai forces? Well bam, here's an example).

Because right now Jeskai pretty much looks like it wants to shape up kind of like American Control with no more than 10-12 creatures in order to get the best bang for it's buck. (24 lands, 10 creatures, 26 "other" spells) and in another spoiler we've already seen the ideal Jeskai finisher in a 3/3 doublestrike creature for 3RR (side note: it seems weird that the blue wedge's best finisher is one of their red creatures). But rather than showing the Sultai Charm for the new templating, why not show the Jeskai Charm. Based on the numbers Jeskai is really going to be all about how playable the instants are, as you want most of those 26 Other Cards to be instants, to get the best bang for the buck.

As it is right now we have 2 artifacts and a PW, neither artifact is really super playable and while the PW is quite playable it's red, so right now Jeskai could be mono-red and still work quite well.

May we please see some spells to make Jeskai exciting in Block/Draft?

Pyrocumuls, That's a great article, thank you. I think the original deck is going more for super early advantage and then holding onto board position after that; not that there is anything wrong with that approach but I'm looking to make this more win now.

I'm not sure how Ragemonger didn't make my list of suggestions... darn thing is really solid and certainly reasonable in terms of budget. I'd suggest testing the full 4, you'll probably want it every game. Multiples aren't so great for you, granted, but having 1 out should be the nuts for your deck.

What sort of play environment are you looking to bring this into and how budget do you want to stay?

There's probably some good value in getting Fanatic of Mogis for in there, also Felhide Petrifier

The other thought I have is that you may want to look at some resources to clear a path for your Minotaurs, and draw never hurts.

    Budget Removal Options:
Auger Spree You may actually find this is great as a win-con as well as a removal spell.
Awe for the Guilds This might be a SB choice, but I think it's probably a good one given the number of cards it will hit. I feel the same way about Bile Blight
Drown in Sorrow should be all upside for you as long as you have a Shaman out.
Magma Jet continues to be a really strong card.
Ultimate Price is probably your best bet against Devotion lists.

    Draw Options:
    Altar's Reap
    Read the Bones
    Sign in Blood

I Honestly don't know how Minotaurs stacks up against the current standard meta, but hopefully that will help you find a place to start testing.

You're right about the Sac Creatures, that's really the key reason they are less than ideal. You're also right about Beck; it is a core element. I had been running Fecundity at first, with more sac creatures but it never seemed to get me quite what I was looking for. A Curio loop with effectively free creatures can go a long way. Interesting note on Memnite/Thoptor is the ONLY thing they don't do is trigger Curio. If a Beck has resolved and the deck is going off then drawing through a straw-man is perfectly fine as it's still mana-neutral creature for either win.

Speaking of which, I'm thinking of a adding 2x Champion of Lambholt dropping it the turn before we go off gives an arbitrarily large unblockable creature. Rolls over to Ensnaring Bridge but then that's why we're running God of the Forge; no attack, no targeting... just die.

Actually, I really kind of like that; Image is a fairly good utility creature even without a Priest to copy. Breaking even by copying an Emissary wouldn't suck either.

I feel that blue is critical anyway as Beck is the closest thing we can expect to a draw engine, Only problem being that the mana gain/recovery wouldn't allow you to replay the Image because of the CC.

Agreed, 8 is probably not the best number, I'd rather have 12 ETB +Mana and 4 Cantor, but unless they print something new or reprint Priest of Gix I don't think there's another option.

    Hi!

So, I've been playing for a long time (Fallen Empires), lurking for a while, and finally decided to post. I haven't got a lot of experience playing Modern as I've mostly been playing 'Trice lately and a fair bit of EDH. However, I really enjoy the idea of a variant storm list using dudes rather than spells, and I'm wondering if there is any value in this approach.

    Basic Idea:

The basic idea is that by swapping out the instants in the traditional storm build you have a plan B baked right into the deck. Cantor and Satyr Hedonist allow for mana storage from T1/T2 to T3, so while they are less useful the turn you go off they do help get to that turn. Goldfishing various builds seems to suggest that a properly tuned build should be capable of T3 blowouts, but there is some flexibility in the tuning.

Does this even make any sense?
