It does stop those 2% of games where Amulet T2s a pair of titans. Not worth maindecking just for that but between that and having some game against Pheonix, Dredge and CoCo (maybe) it's worth talking about.

I am sorry to double-post, but now I have to take it back - this card may be the real deal in Modern thanks to The Elderspell, which can enable you to instantly win by supercharging Bolas. Here's my take on a uBR Control Deck with such a theme...

The goal is to get to two walkers on board, and then cast Bolas + The Elderspell to intantly get to 8 and end the game. The Elderspell is able to kill any opposting Teferis or Jaces or Lilis that might be stopping you. Ashiok, Dovin, and your own Lilis are here to run interference, slow opponents down, and protect you while being reay to get Elderspelled, while Karn does something similar while also enabling some bonkers sideboard shenanigans. Beyond that we've got a pretty standard sort of "tap-out control" suite.

Honestly, my first thought was to just dismiss this but that's a pretty tight set of control effects. May be viable if there's a way to cheat out Ashiok a turn early (Simian Spirit Guide maybe). Davrirl could be worth a slot or two as well.

I sure as hell could not do 1% as good a job as the artist on the new Tezzoret the Seeker but something about the face just feels off.

    Not in HD:

Indeed not in HD, that's gorgeous.

The challenge with the Sloth is that it can be do nothing from time to time as it requires a land in your hand to be worthwhile, Llanowar elves on an empty board is at least some sort of clock, possibly enough to win the game.

Edit: 1 place where I think this could really shine would be some sort of Simic Aggro - T1 Arbor Sloth, T2 Curious Obsession on the Sloth and 2 mana up for Negate or whatever (heck, go Temur and keep up a shock). My previous concerns about late game top-decks stand but if you're drawing off the Compulsion then that's a bonus. I do get that mono-u aggro is fine with T1 1 drop, T2 compulsion and Dive Down up. But this has a huge butt and may allow for a slightly more mana hungry build.

It does, indeed, become difficult to sloth this thing into a deck at times.
I think I still prefer Gift of Paradise for my own decks though, 3 life is just too good at times.

I see what you did there.:)

I'm a huge fan of life gain so it hurts to say this but 3 life is just a fairly small buffer against not loosing. A +1/+1 counter can increase your clock. Granted, in an empty board Gift is more value. Really hard to value one over the other.

Is Arboreal Grazer a better turn 1 play than Llanowar Elves?, they can't exactly kill the second land that comes into play and you can still be up to 3 mana turn 2.

Llanowar Elves are probably still better since people aren't losing their ***** over this sloth hehe Smile

This is probably obvious, but with a 3 land hand I do love T1 Grazer into T2 Horizons, swing with a 2/2 on 2. It's not what I'd call a "clock" but untapping with 4 mana on 3 isn't bad either.

That‘s how I understand it as well, otherwise the ‚and/or‘ clause would be irrelevant.
To me, it seems like you can get either one single creature out of your library or your yard or both, but never two out of the yard or out of your library

No, that would be "you may search your graveyard for a creature and your library for a creature, put any of these creatures into play" . (I'm not sure about the exact templating for the final half).

As is written you may search 1 or 2 zones for a total of one creature.

I hate to be *that* guy but I think I would still run Tooth and Nail over this.

I don't think I will. For the entwine cost this new spell will get you 2 creatures from GY or library of 7 or less CMC. Granted, you lose the ability to play creatures already in your hand but you gain a lot of flexibility by being able to pay 5 and get 2 utility creatures as well.

    Might even run both.

Am I missing something? The card says search in two zones for a total of 1 creature. Granted, you do get to search your graveyard, but I don't think that's enough to offset the loss of the second creature.

So exactly instant speed lava axe? The original has always been fine, the tweak should make it really strong. Not much to say about Sarkhan himself that isn't on his leak thread.

So, with any Planeswalker on the Battlefield and this guy without any counters, is there a window during proliferate where the mutant sees the Planeswalker get the counter and becomes a proliferate target itself, or does it just get the 1 counter from it's ability?

I'm pretty sure it's the latter but I'm not 100% on this call.
If this doesn't have any counters on it for some reason when you proliferate, it won't gain the counters from its ability before you finish proliferating, but given that it enters with counters (and should get them when a new planeswalker enters the battlefield), you shouldn't be caught in an awkward position where you won't have any counters to proliferate unless you also don't have any planeswalkers out.

Ah, I had forgotten that Planeswalkers entering caused the addition of loyalty counters. Silly of me given that I've played enough EDH to know about the interaction with a certain green enchantment.

Heck, even the 4/4 for 3GU with Trample is fine on a walkerless board.
