I generally don't read peoples blogs here, or blogs in general. I have read maybe 4 blog entries on this forum since they appeared.
But I went out of my way to read this one.
Various random IQ tests clock my IQ at about 185. Yet best I muster in life is working fixing printers over the phone while people yell at me. Being smart, I do amazingly well at it, but cannot get ahead.
The world is made by and for the average. Very rarely can an above average individual get anywhere of merit, because we are all square pegs trying to fit in round holes. Schools AIm to give A grades to those who can work the hardest at the C grade material. And we get lost in the shuffle. Even beauty is really about how average you are. Beuaty is judged on symmetry, and familiarity. Barbie dolls and Fashion magazines tend to exagerate and warp the idea of average, so we fawn over unattainable goals in the media. But in the end, 95% of us reach for and fall in love with those whom are the most average.
Average people; the average person feels the most comfortable with an average person, but strives for the media warped god or goddess. it is sad, but alas.
Even Universities and colleges are designed for the average. Those with above average ability tend to get labelled as having learning disablities, whichever one is the curse dujour. Einstein had Dyslexia and failed Highschool math, nowadays the easy prognosis for the square pegs is ADHD, then med them up until their corners are rounded enough to fit in the hole. I was diagnosed with ADD and Dyslexia as a child (actually not ADD, but a variant. Closer to Autism) I was lucky and avoided the meds after the first year. School was still a pain, and I was still a square peg. But I learned what was a disability really was not, and when I learned to use it I discovered I could keep alot of different subjects and ideas going on in my mind at a time. My problem was not that I was unable to focus on the world around me but that the world around me was far to simple.
Life is about making mistakes. We make loads of them, they are necessary to learning. They are necessary to the way the wrld works. Even at the biological level, life makes mistakes and the beings who cannot handle the mistakes they are handed die off due to natural selection.
The mistakes we make are much the same.
We have a choice with each mistake we make (assuming it was not such a bad one we erased ourselves from the gene pool) ; A) Learn from it and become better for it B) Say **** it and give up. B leads to repeating the same mistakes over and over, doing the same things again and again, getting the same results.
There is a saying about a person who does the same thing over and over expecting different results ; that is called being crazy. That is 99% of the world, and as long as a person lets themselves fall into that demographic ; they are average. The only way to be above average is to fit in that remaining 1%
Anyways ; I always respected you and thought you were awesome, regardless of whether I have had much chance to really speak to you.

Just letting you know while the nuns were flogging you I managed to grab that nickle...and it was a buffalo.
You should send me your address, I promise each year for christmas to send you one normal modern nickle to make up for the one I denied you of. Besides, I belive it is just to pay for good entertainment when I see it, and I appreciate a good nun-flogging. You saved me weeks of therapy.
Do you have a good recipe for Gespacho? -
Sep 11, 2007Sakura posted a message on And so it begins...The body has trouble digesting most seeds as is sweety. It is an awesome start and they mix well on alot of foods. If you have a blender, put them into some shakes and such. That will break them up so your body can digest them better.Posted in: Hall of Enigma
They are good on salads and make good cookies.
I prefer capsules if you can find them -

I recommend going the legit route (as you seem to be doing, and making a career) then just as a personal private thing. The later will turn you into a cat-lady.Posted in: Ether uses Gigagash!
:ducks the onslaught of hurled cats:
I definately wish you luck. I love animals too, and have thought of these professions as well at times. -

I am a really good judge of people, yet manage to become blined to stupid things on net relationships. I am trying to mend things with Elisha. i doubt she will see me as two timing, we already had the understanding we would see other people if we liked...no strings. We weren't even serious. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
1 casting cost creatures would not be able to attack on the first turn since they come into play that turn.
Ornithopter and Time Machine rocks with Rancor
Timelepper W
Creature - Human Lepper
Fading 3
When Time Lepper comes into play it phases out.
If Time Lepper would phase in and it has any Fading counters on it, instead remove a Fading counter from it.
If a creature is blocked by Time Lepper, remove it from the game.
3/2
designed more for game mechanics than card functionality.
Creates a new effect by combining two excisting old effects, which is completely in the sets flavour.
I love Poison, it was just done poorly. What they need are some sorceries that give poison counters.
some ideas.
*******
Venom Plague 2GB
Instant
Choose a number; all creatures get -X/-X until end of turn, where X is the chosen number. You gain X Poison Counters.
*******
*******
Toxomancer 2BB
Creature - Wizard Assasin
Fear
When Toxomancer comes into play, gain 2 Poison Counters.
Whenever Toxomancer deals combat damage to a player, they gain 3 Poison counters unless they sacrifice a creature.
2/2
*******
*******
Plague Madness UB
Enhantment
Whenever you gain a Posion counter, draw a card.
*******
*******
Hornet Swarm 2G
Sorcery
Your opponent chooses a number, they gain that many Poison Counters.
Put X 2/2 Flying Green Insect tokens into play, where X is the number of Poison Counters you have minus the number chosen.

Casual does not equal crappy.
Casual just means a broader more random Metagame, little or no sideboard, and different strategies (since many casual decks are also designed for multiplayer.
if they set rules just for you, it isnt for fairness...its because you are challenged and they are being nice.
As for reprinting the old power cards. If anyone wants to play Vintage for cheap they can either find a proxie event or play on Apprentice.
Are vintage players Snobs? yes many are...but not all. Are T2 players Noobish...yes many are, but not all. The better players usally move onto Extended or Vintage simply because they build up the card pool by default anyways...and want more of a challenge. There is a reason most FNM runs Standard/T2. It is designed as a starting point. Core set is designed primarilly with cards best suited for new players. Standard limits players to the most recent sets so that new players dont get pushed out by the older ones. Also because it promotes sales of newer sets which makes Wizards money.
Would selling reprinted Power make Wizards money? no
Why? They would sell like crazy at first, but they would promote Vintage and Extended play more than Standard and Block. WoTC makes no money on old formats (well, next to none, sometimes new cards get rotated into decks) Is the sale of one set worth years of lost sales. They would have to print new cards with the same level as the older more broken cards, this would make for a very unhealthy Standard environment.
In any business; how does pissing off your longest running loyal customers, shutting off your market for new players, and giving the odd new player that comes along a badly balanced environment to grow in help you. It doesnt, it kills you.
What would be acceptable...and you see them playing with this idea right now...is reprinting some of the older cards as special promos (look at the Judge promos coming out)
As a new player, doesnt it make sence to get a judges certificate so you can get shiny Regrowths and Meddling Mages.
There is a likelyhood that the precons for Coldsnap will have a few worthwhile Ice Age or Aliances Vintage/Legacy commons and uncommons reprinted in them, do not expect anything bigger than Swords to Plowshares mind you. These wont be T2 legal either.
Also, we are getting older sets on Modo, so play online if you want old cards.
As for the two grand buy in for T1...there are some cheaper decks you can make to get started that need little or no power....build Fish or Goblins. And a two grand buy in with little need to buy any more cards is better than handing out 100 bux or more whenever a new set comes out.
Our play area is small, they play Vintage here and Draft. No standard or Extended. But nobody has power. I play random decks each week to avoid scaring everyone away (I ran the same Oath deck 3 weeks in a row undefeated and people stopped coming)
I often play some kind of Oath variation because I love the card so much, and I like this variant...it is evil...and very good for my metagame.
