I don't really get the Virulent Sliver comment at all.
As for Maelstrom Djinn, I would assume it would lose vanishing since a face down creature has no abilities. It would, however, retain it's time counters, so if you reflipped it, I believe it would have Vanishing but would have 2 + however many counters remained when it was put face down.

Mar 16, 2007Photon Eater posted a message on [Copper] Initial DesignIt seems like many of these cards are a good deal wordier than I am used to seeing, particularly at a casual level of play. However, the new ninja are interesting, and it seems there are a lot of CIP/LP effects to abuse in the format, which always makes me happy.Posted in: Alacar's Design Zone

Mar 16, 2007Photon Eater posted a message on Avoiding LJ, but...However, if the numbers in play were smaller, and the formulas were more simplistic, that sort of alteration would not be nearly as problematic.Posted in: Optional Dungeon
Some change ideas I have include:
-Simplified stats
-Refined and simplified MP system
-Removal of percentile bonuses in exchange for more manageable bonuses.
-Addition of basic skill system like power system
-Movement and speed mechanics
-Adding something of a level "marker" for helping to sort out reward bonuses. -
Mar 16, 2007Photon Eater posted a message on Avoiding LJ, but...Well, the interactions between stats themselves aren't so bad- I mean, in D&D, as you level up there are plenty of contigent benefits that change as you improve- BAB, saves, abilities scores, SPDs, et al- the trick is the numbers are small enough that they can be changed without a lot of trouble. Calculating how increasing your ATK by 4 is a big deal, since you increase your ATK, then you need to figure out the individual damage results of each ability and the to hit of each ability...Posted in: Optional Dungeon

You... didn't know we couldn't marry?
Why? It's not like I have this history of getting wildly offended by seemingly innocent comments and then erupting into a tirade of wrath and spittle... oh wait...
I have always wanted to marry this boy. But, like a lot of things in my life, I sort of gave up the notion of it ever actually happening. Same with ever having a family. However, recently I've become somewhat empowered by some things, and I'm feeling more hopeful for the future. Well, hopeful and capable. The sensation that I was unable to decide how my life would play out at all has faded somewhat.
My family has no pets, only the livestock of those we slaughter as we sweep the plains with our warbands.
Well, considering most gay people can't marry, it has to happen outside of marriage most of the time. Of course, there is usually a ceremony. Thing is, most gay couples have a ceremony after the fact- it ends up being more like a re-commitment ceremony, since most long term gay couples are partnered and cohabiting for a while before they seal the deal, as opposed to the traditional heterosexual union which typically places the ceremony as the starting point, denoting the beginning of the union.
It's not Elfquest actually- it's Mialee, the iconic female Wizard from D&D 3.5. And the villain of my joke campaign, Freaking Elves. Which, ironically, featured an NPC named Kain Lastname.
And no, I'm basically just "Mamelon's brother" to so many people as it is, I'm not about to base the name my family is built upon around that. (seriously- isn't it supposed to be that the younger sibling ends up being constantly compared and associated to their older sibling? Like so many other things in my family, what the hell happened THERE?)
Oh no, it will be totally huge. I'm sure of it. Bones will be broken, financial connections will be severed, wills will be revised. A small dog may be trained to attack at the mere sight of me. And that only covers the name change. My eventual marriage will be absolutely steeped in tears, tragedy, and given my mother, probably bloodshed. I probably shouldn't wear white. Or perhaps I'm just overly afraid of my mother, from whom I inherited my Photon powers and unrelenting rage.
This is seriously the funniest thing I have seen in here since Ryan went all "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!! *staff thump*" against TFE waaaaay back in the day.
Seriously. I'm roffling so hard there's blood.
So, I'm not going to ask about all this Psi-in-Technical-Thread drama, except that it seems like it's pretty much par for the course. This is MTGS, people. It's like Battle Royale, only instead of violence, it's petty, girlish snarking and no one would ever be remotely interested in watching it.

So, not much going on with me. Had my vacation, it was boring, I'm broke as per usual, and I've learned never to take a vacation again because once you get back, everything has fallen straight into Hell.
However, it's nice to know my presence is a stabilizing factor, to say the least. It would have been nice to learn that without there having been 12 med errors, but I'll take what I can get.
OH!
In news no one will read:
Josh and I have decided to change our names and take on a new last name. As some of you may know, his legal name isn't actually Joshua- he's named after his father. We've always assumed that he would someday change his name and symbolically remove all attachment to his father, but it always provided some confusion on what would happen, then, if we decided to share a family name, since we would both be Joshua Lastname.
However, he stated recently that since he has been going by an alias pretty much his entire life, he could go halfway and legitimize his name by making it his middle name. So, in some time here (not sure when yet- name changes are expensive), but he'll become Patrick Joshua Lastname, and I'll become Joshua D. Lastname (I'm a bit uncomfortable sharing the new family name yet- not because I don't like it or anything, I actually really like it, but I'm just never comfortable stating my full identity in a place like this.) If anyone wants to know what the new name will be, PM or IM me. I will await a sole PM from Joyd.
I'm excited, though. I'm pretty sure my parents will hate it, though. But that's another huge, tangled mess of a situation I don't feel like getting into at the moment because emo is a bad color on me.
Space reserved for action resolution...
I've kidnapped him, slapped a wig on him and plastered him in makeup and cheap perfume, and sold him for 28 bucks to a particularly creepy masked wrestler who posted an ad on Craigslist looking for a "slender young American woman who has next to no dignity and double jointed knees. I doubt we'll ever see him again. He's among a few who have been unable to access the site since the most recent bout of maintenance, and his router is making it impossible for him to access MTGS. He basically has to wait it out. It could be a few hours, it could be a few days. But there you have it. Your leader is dead. Fall into fiery ruin and let the sounds of your screams echo across the abyss like a dire song of madness, Magic Coffeehouse.
The ghost heaves with labored breathing, glaring directly at you. It shoves itself free from Grant's grasp, and then leaps into the air, grabbing onto the angel statue and hanging from it.
Just then, both the spirit and the two mortal combatants notice three other people heading towards them. James and Grant recognize them as Eugenia, Alex, and Adam.
"Well, it looks like we have to share, eh James?" Grant quips as he attempts to dig the bullet out of his shoulder with his finger. He hisses slightly for a second, and then drops the bloody metal to the ground next to him.
Speaking of other games and systems- any other favorites?
I'm a fan of In Nomine, from Steve Jackson Games. Only been in one campaign, which sort of flopped, but I really love the rules system, flavor, and overall style of the game. I played a Cherubim of Jean, who was posing as a sort of Van Wilder-esque campus legend, had an unhealthy interest in both peppercorns and the Nintendo Wii, and was an expert in all varieties of homoerotic ancient Greek martial arts. I couldn't play it anymore if I wanted to, though- all my PDFs are on the hard drive of the system that crashed in January.
So you guys can show up whenever you want to, then. Just be sure to roll initiative when you get there.
I think there have been a few people who were into White Wolf here who haven't been around in some time. If anyone else is, they haven't been very vocal about it. Joyd is playing a VtR campaign currently, only it seems more like he's less playing and more sticking around out of morbid curiosity based on his accounts.
