I think every feature match so far (as of round 7) has had at least one deck using green. Most of them both decks. Ugghh......
It is really telling when green is in two of the best control decks in the format...
If you don't like blue Wizards then just cut the color already, this slow death of mediocre cards and selling its mechanics to other colors is pathetic.
I think people have just been led to believe that control is nothing more than U/X (almost always U/W). I'm glad they're showing that control is more than that draw go with counters and board wipes.
It's because the best mil/delve fueler is a cheap 1/1 green creature, and the best recursion card is a cheap green morph creature.
I'm seeing how good or bad my old love Jeskai Tokens is tonight with a few cards from the new set. Both Jace and Chandra have been crazy good in the games I've played so far...
Thank you, that's good info, but did you see the results from Chicago? G/R devotion took 1st, 3rd, and 4th.
Also I should have mentioned the top deck at my LGS is atarka red.
This is the first tournament after a new set, and decks like Abzan and GR Devotion really prey on decks that are not very well tuned (or if people play them sloppy). While GR Devotion took 3 of top 4, Abzan took 5 of top 16 and 24 of the top 64 decks.
Let's say you have a Pyromancer's Goggles and a Narset Transcendent out. If you -2 Narset to give Rebound to your next spell, if you copy that spell using Pyromancer's Goggles, does the copy also gain rebound? If so, how does that work?
Also, if I have a Jace, Telepath Unbound flipped and flashback a spell, could I give THAT spell rebound with Narset?
This seems exactly like the kind of deck I want to be playing, but I really don't know much about deck building. This seems like a good list in my head but have had no time to test or play with it. The main win condition is simply to burn them out. Focusing on 4 damage burn spells, I want to rebound them with Narset, double them with Goggles, and flash them back with Jace, while Chandra gets value out of everything. Tokens fuel Stoke, board wipes (main and side) help clear the way, Cruise to refill. Besides FNM, I have an upcoming SCG Regional and the San Diego GP to build for. Any thoughts on this list or a direction to take it in? I wanted to play something that uses new cards and is a little out of the box (and not green).
So is Tickal out? I just tuned in and didn't here rally mentioned for top 8.
Yeah, the fun new brews were nowhere to be seen. Top 8 was 3 GR Devotion, an Abzan Control, UW Heroic, UW Control, Jeskai Tokens, and Mardu Dragons. But top 4 was all three GR Devotions and UW Heroic. Pretty boring, if you ask me.
I was there. Although it was an interesting and informative panel, the lack of Zen spoilers was frustrating. No word on upcoming duel decks or commander sets either. Everyone was hoping for enemy fetches, but with enemy pains in Origins...... who knows.
So everyone who bought one and resolt it made 100$. I find its worth paying the 150 or 200 for one as I would rathe rnot drive down to San Diego (and i live in Cali), buy a hotel room, camp out and wait hour sin line, only to buy the limited 2 a person.
It's more like: Show up some time before midnight to get in the pre-line line to then possibly get a ticket at 7am to come back to the Hasbro booth at the timestamp on the ticket and cross your fingers that what you want isn't sold out. There are daily allotments as well as a finite amount for the whole show. Each item has strict limits (MTG box was 1 per badge) which is enforced by stamping and marking your badge. If you have friends you can get multiples, but only 1 per badge of this item (some were 2 per badge). OR if you don't have a ticket, you can roll the dice after 12pm and get in the extra line, which allows people in during the afternoon, but that line grows quickly and is capped quickly as well. It's quite a process that requires significant timing or luck. I got mine through luck and will be selling the singles off one by one.
Does anyone know if the book even has anything more than what we can read on WotC's site?
During the Comic Con panel, MaRo was asked if the book by itself was going to be sold regularly outside of the 'con exclusive. He said that all the content, art and story, are available on the website, to which several people in the audience shouted "But we want to give you money!!" Which I believe was referring to having a nice professional book to flip through.
I was incredibly lucky in being able to get a Plainswalker box yesterday. I didn't have a ticket at all and was just hoping for Sunday free for all (no ticket required). But a buddy of mine did have a ticket and I was walking up with him regardless. Well, this was about 12:45pm. They called out for "anyone else with tickets!" and he got in line. I was just standing there when they said "Any other tickets? OK, take your spot right there" talking to me. I guess that was the beginning of the "D-line" that ends up forming after all the ticket times are past. Got in, got through, got my pack! What's the best way to sell this thing? I want to keep it, but it seems stupid not to sell it. Singles? As a set? eBay prices are already dropping hard from 250 to 210-225. What about breaking apart the singles?
Abbot only has psudo card advantage when it drops. Meaning, if you play it on turn 2, it's ability doesn't help you. If you drop it turn 4, 5, or 6, it MIGHT give you something you have to play RIGHT NOW, but then are left with a 2/1 that dies in combat and to just about every spell. Yeah, it has Prowess, but so does Monastery Swiftspear, which costs 1, has haste, and is harder to kill. Personally, I don't think either of them belong in a Jeskai shell.
