III is really good, in most cases there will be a creature or planeswalker with cmc over 5, so it basically pays for itself after three turns. All three abilities provide card advantage, with I and III providing mana advantage. In most cases it is better than a 5cmc enchantment with "draw three cards. at beg. of your upkeep, put a counter, at three counters sacrifice and gain 5 mana"

Compared to Ob Nixilis Reignited, +1 and -3 are better in exchange for starting with one less loyalty.

    super powerful late game

    Better than The Chain Veil

the reason standard sucks is because WotC won't print good answers because they are unfun. But honestly a standard with powerful answers would be much more fun than what it is today. A standard with Doom Blade, Lightning Bolt, Path to Exile, Wrath of God, and Counterspell would be the best one in years.

    posted a message on libertarianism.
    1. No, business does better because competition increases quality/cost ratio.

    2. Judges in the market would have to prove their trustworthiness and fairness. Again, this all happens through market competition.

3.If you raise your price too high, people will buy from someone else.

    4. Then someone will patronize a non-cartelized protection agency, besides cartels never last very long...

    5. These protection agecies wont want to fight each other because that is expensive, and is bad press for the protection agency that started the battle.

Another thing that I want to add is this, it is kind of ironic that people are arguing for the state to protect our property rights even though the state violates people's property rights through taxation.

I read an interesting article today about Magic's possible future:
    https://curatingthefuture.com/2016/01/15/magic_hearthstone_solforge_disruption/

This would really make those who have invested much into the game mad. But I think it is inevitable because of the reasons stated in the article and because of counterfeiters getting better and better in their practice.

I do want them to make MtGO better but please don't make online Magic into a different game than paper Magic. If they do that, this new online game will probably be some watered down version of paper Magic meant to appeal to new players. You can do that with DotP don't do it with MtGO. MtGO could use some help with user interface and bugs though.

posted a message on Current Modern Banlist Discussion (1/18/2016 update - Summer Bloom/Splinter Twin Banned)
    Let's ban affinity
    Burn is too strong
    Let's ban burn
    Tron is too strong
    Let's ban tron
    Junk is too strong
    Let's ban Junk
    Infect is too strong
    Let's ban Infect

    See where this is going?
There is always going to be a top deck. In legacy it is miracles in Standard it is Abzan, in Vintage it is shops,
The point is bans aren't the answer unless a deck is totally dominant(30+% of the meta) in order to minimize decks totally dominating and ruining a format(Eldrazi) we need more unbans. Also, instead of banning to shake up a format, maybe try unbanning a card so as to achieve the same goal without making people upset.

posted a message on Modern players: would you play "Eternal"?
This format would probably kill legacy which would hurt the prices of the dual lands and cause lots of money to be lost.

I guess Legacy and Vintage will soon become online only formats if the reserved list continues to stay the same.

posted a message on [[Official]] Modern Prices Discussion
I really hope they'll make Modern Masters a yearly thing. I don't care if some of the packages continue to have cards that aren't played in Modern just to make it draftable. If they reprint a selection of Modern's most expensive staples every year, it would really help the format in my opinion. It wouldn't hurt game stores that much because they'd get to sell lots of packs in exchange for very expensive cards dropping 10-20 bucks.
