Step 1: Cast Marath with 3 lands
Step 2: Tap Marath to untap a land used to cast Marath
Step 3: Tap that land to make a 1/1 token (2 counters left on Marath)
Step 4: Tap the token to untap a land
Step 5: sacrifice the creature to Altar to generate 2 colorless mana
Step 6: Use the floating mana to make 2 more 1/1 tokens, Marath goes back to the command zone
Step 7: Tap the 2 tokens to untap the 2 other lands
Step 8: Sacrifice the 2 tokens to make 4 colorless mana
Step 9: Recast Marath with the 3 lands and 2 colorless mana, leaving 2 colorless floating
Step 10: Repeat steps 2-9 to generate infinite colorless mana
Step 11: Cast Marath with infinity counters, activate his ability to deal infinite damage to each player
What do you guys think of a deck with pain lands instead of scry lands, so the only lands that enter tapped are Sandsteppe Citadels. That essentially lets us throw things on the table a turn faster. Thoughts?
I think that's a really good idea. Nice list! I want to hear how Abzan Ascendancy works for you. I'm going to add your list to the first page as an example of a Nissa version, once you drop an updated list without the Evolving Wilds.
I was considering a 3rd nissa, but I'm waiting to see what happens to the price. Setessan tactics seems more like a side card imo, but if I find space I'll consider it. Thanks for the suggesstions!
Fleecemane Lion- This deck wants to power out threats fast, and Fleecemane Lion often fits right into our curve. It hits the field early, establishes board presence and is often a great target for +1/+1 counters.
Anafenza, the Foremost- This card is pretty great. A 4/4 for 3 is sexy and the +1/+1 counters add up fast. It also slaughters Reanimator if that was at all relevant.
Siege Rhino- Fantastic for this deck, gets out fast in conjunction with Caryatid and absolutely wrecks Aggro. Instantly gets a spot in this deck.
Abzan Charm- Originally I was running Read the Bones, but as an instant with 2 other possible abilities this card is soooo much better. Is one of many cards that help the deck maintain advantage.
Elspeth/Ajani/Nissa- I'm still working on the ratios for these. Ajani accelerates the deck and buffs my creatures, Elspeth and Nissa are both basically win conditions. Nissa's second +1 also works well with Windswept Heath/Evolving Wilds. Really I could see using 3 of any of them. Thoughts?
Evolving Wilds- normally a rather subpar card, Evolving Wilds works rather well in this deck. It takes advantage of both Nissa and Courser, and 1 of each basic land + Sandsteppe/Caryatid gives you access to all the colors you need.
I'm not running any Scry Lands because I like the versatility of Evolving Wilds, and the deck doesn't want too many lands that enter tapped.
I'm waiting on the sideboard until I see what the format's like. This is my first post on this forum so all advice is appreciated!
