I must have a consistent artifact hate package in my edh just to kill mana stones? And then some more for gauntlets, lenses, o-stones, mindslavers... Sure. While you can have consistent artifact ramp, consistent artifact hate is much more difficult to assemble, not to mention in every given color.

    Not really:

    colorless:
    and creature removal

White: (white's removal is REALLY strong for artifacts, but less repeatable)

    Red:

    Blue:
    Any counterspell
    ...etc

    Black:
    [card]
    Gate to Phyrexia
    [/card]

    Green:

there are tons more I am sure, but all are of the above extremely powerful in EDH...even Black has a somewhat respectable answer for artifacts

I started going down this path, and the "keeping up with the joneses" is really too hard at the highest level without a company paying for it.I was working on a MCSD, but the only one that had that program complete was 2003, They never finished 2005 and once 2008 was complete they discontinued the 2003 program when I was one test away.

Since I didn't complete I didn't get fully reimbursed so I now have some loans to pay off.

My advice would be to echo these guys and not try to get every cert in the world. Figure out what you want to do and then get the specific cert that will help you get in the door. Then expect to be doing CE for the rest of your career.

Honestly that doesn't appeal to me. I like the stuff but I haven't been able to keep up since I don't really do IT full time.

yeah...i dont really look forward to all of the testing and studying and keeping up with renewing certs, but i need to make more money plain and simple. I am supporting 4 kids on $16 an hour and my wife is a stay at home mom until the kids get older. Getting Certs and pushing forward with the IT thing is the only way I know to get a better job. I have a College Degree, but its worthless (General Studies). Computer Certs are much faster than trying to find an entierly new field that will pay me more, if that even exsists.

Maybe I will try and go straigt with the Microsoft sys admin path of certs and just do that.

The CCNA is a 1 time test. there are not several tests to take. it is just one test. It isn't like an MSCE where it requires 7 tests.

it is good for 3 years and then you have to renew it again. the CCNP is a bit harder and the CCIE is even harder.

All require a good bit of study and really only help if you are doing work in those fields.

Right now I am seeing a lot of job requirements wanting these certifications, but unless you have the money and the time they are very difficult to get.

the Cisco website said that the CCNA is seperate 2 tests and that it was a recent change from the old test.

I have already worked in a computer shop for around 3 years, got laid off and then got a job at a helpdesk. I have 3-4 years of relevant experience already, I am just looking to get certified to make more money and have upward potential in companies I work for.

Money and time ARE an object, but to further one's career sacrifices must be made. I have forced some time into my schedual for study, and my present employer MIGHT be willing to pay for the testing costs...we shall see.

    Thanks for all the tips

Put the card under some newspaper, iron it without steam. Don't hold the iron on for too long at any given time so the newspaper doesn't catch fire. Keep working at it until its flat again, typically takes around 20 minutes. This is a much faster method than trying to flatten it out with books. The book method takes forever.

this also works with a bedsheet instead of newspaper and runs less of a risk of burning anything

CCNA is pretty much the entry-level networking certification.

CCNP is the high level networking one.

So if you are interested, just get the exam prep books, study a lot, practice packet tracer, you'll be good to go. Maybe buy the lab books to practice with too. If you're not great with self-learning take a class, there's al ot of content.

And again, depends what profession you want to go into. If you know some basic coding, binary, basic hardware stuff, server stuff, that'll all help.

Try looking online for people hiring, and they'll say "we need you to have Ciso Certification, and SQL blah blah, and experienced in blah blah blah".

Or since you are working in a related field. Ask around for info. That's usually the best way to get the info you want, asking people in the industry.

thanks...just the type of answer I was looking for. I think I am going to try and do the following in this order

    A+
Server or Network + (probably network)
    MCDST
    MCSA+
    CCNA
    CCNP

That seems like a good path to me...anything i missed? Most of the people in the office I work in are not higher level computer people than I am. I have never even met the tier 2 guys here because I am an outsourced helpdesk rep...Those are the certs that I scrounged up just looking at job descriptions on career builder

    Again, thanks for the help

What do you want to do?
Help Desk is pretty much the lowest level computer tech job, but the experience helps in improving your career.

A+ will help you get a job at places like Best Buy, fixing up computers.
CCNA (cisco certified networking associate) may be enough to get you a job with a small company as a network+computer tech guy. CCNP(ccnProfessional) may help you get a network architect/admin career in a larger company.

If you're learning CCNA, (I did so at university), it's not too hard. Buy the exam prep books, use something like PacketTracer to simulate routers and configuration, once comfortable then take the test at the nearest location.

Are there any intermediate things/certs that are important to take before approaching the CCNA? I am in facth a low level computer helpdesk peon right now, but I am not happy with it. Do you think i need any microsoft certs or the Server+ or anything to be successful at the CCNA exams?

we played it a couple times and it was ok, It is actually an old format from a MTG invitational...i forget what year. It eliminates alot of the older cards that I personally love so i found it kinda Meh.

    EDIT:

    it's from 2002

This variant was taken from the 2000 Event Horizons Invitational.

    Benjamin Cohen originally developed it.

how can a TO force you to open your product before you drop? what if they pass out product and you then get a call stating that your mom died? they can't force you to not leave the venue.
