Blehhhh, I'm tempted to go to the prerelease for the sole purpose of collecting these exclusive packs of sorts.

I see people saving these split packs, and selling them down the road for a LOT of cash.

But only if they are never printed again.

As soon as I get 4 they are replacing my Sejiri Refuges. Seems pretty obvious to me.

Looks like so far some people don't use the card and others swear by it. Interesting...

Personally I've been running 2 Tec Edges and 2 Mystifying Maze since Maze was released. Havn't had any problems without the extra Tec Edges, especially because I'm running Sun Titans in my build. I do run 4 Spreading Seas in the side though, which have won me quite a few games since the extra land-disruption (6 vs 3 or 4) is nice against certain decks games 2 and 3.

Well, it looks like Mystifying Maze DID end up being played for the ending duration of this version of Type 2.

Now I want to know what you guys think about the card now that we have SoM.

I honestly think a lot of people are underestimating proliferate in a control type decklist. The fact that you have a 4 mana mana-sink every turn (clasp) that makes your walkers and artifacts bigger and their dudes smaller is just utterly ridiculous. Ratchet Bomb is pretty good, but when you can put two or more counters on it every turn, that's just ridiculous.

I also see Venser being a lot better in UW than I previously thought. His -1 ability is a game-winner, he basically replaces Elspeth's Jump in that regard. His blink is pretty amazing too, especially against certain cards like opposing ratchet bombs and walkers that are close to ultimate, and also with your own clasps and titans and walkers that are low on counters.

One of the hotspots is Vault of Whispers. Are they really going to reprint all the artifact lands or only that one?

Actually yes, they probably will. Affinity is gone and won't be back ever, so they don't have to worry about that or Disciple. Metalcraft also blows without arti-lands so they have two options: One, do NOT reprint the arti-lands and piss off everyone that wanted to play metalcraft competitively (a lot of people).

Or two, reprint the arti-lands because they won't be busted like before, and they will make metalcraft actually somewhat playable.

I see them reprinting the arti-lands for that reason alone, but I have been wrong before. After all, Jace didn't end up being 100 dollars, he only reached 80. lol

Oh and Vensers Journal is sick with Necropotence. The old 3 card combo now needs one card less Grin

It's pretty damn sick by itself too. That card is going to be ridonkulous in type two control.

How is Champion not good again? Any equipment makes him awesome, and since he uses the Metalcraft, the synergy with it works perfectly.

People are ignorant, they will come around.

Just like they will understand how powerful that Darksteel Sentinel is. Flash makes him so ridiculously good it's hard to fully comprehend the possibilities. At 6 he's almost too expensive, but if he had been any cheaper then he would have been too easily abused. At 6 he's pretty much perfect for control decks.

And all the reasons I hated Mirrodin the first time around come flooding back to me.

You hated Mirrodin because of this card?

One of the coolest cards ever made!?!?!

    Foolish.

If you want to hate Mirrodin then do it the right way and hate affinity.

Buying any card for over 15 dollars is just ridiculous, unless you are paying quite a bit less than it's actually worth (say 50 dollars for a Jace 2.0).

It's just much easier and cheaper to trade for the cards you need, by continually and habitually trading up. I've been able to get away with this system for the last 4-6 years and while it may take me a little longer to get my playsets, it's also usually free. I'd say the trade-off is definitely worth it.

Your wording in all previous posts indicated that your opponent had attacked multiple times with his little friends (saying "his 2/2's couldn't get there without the extra 6 damage every turn" and so on,) in which case mazing the token would have been the right play. If "every turn" actually meant "the one turn in which he attacked and I had maze active," then I apologize for not divining that meaning.

I wasn't trying to "disprove you," nor "disprove" that Maze is a card worth running. Merely trying to point out that stories illustrating a card's worth by relating a situation in which the use of said card both lucky and, by the way the story was originally told, used incorrectly, is just as likely to make people want to stay away from it entirely.

I will admit that I was being vague on certain points. And that my story was indeed based mostly on luck. Like I said the first time though, I merely posted the story because I thought it was funny. You are the one who thought it was used incorrectly, when in fact, it wasn't used wrongly at all. You just misinterpreted it that way. I apologize for confusing you so indefinitely, in the future I'll simply post backbreaking examples of why cards are outrageously good, not silly stories that I thought others might get a kick out of. I forgot that humor does not exist on the internet. Sorry.

Ok, so you actually DO care about what people say on the internet, hence why you keep responding defensibly to anyone who makes a comment....whether that comment is directed at you or not.

Not only that but you feel people whom you know nothing about are taking "things" away from you. What then is it exactly that we have in our physical possession that used to be yours. What is it that these thieves have taken, that used to be your possession? And to top it all off, you concede the economy exists as a collective ownership, yet everyone else is the drain on it. Wow.

So, from what I've gathered from this nearly-derailed thread is.
1.) Everyone else is wrong but you because you say you're simply smarter.
2.) You don't care about anything, yet respond defensibly and aggressively to everything.
3.) You self proclaim you should hate everyone but are a nice guy, as if you're doing anyone a favor.
4.) When someone questions your logic about a particular scenario involving Mystifying Maze, where earlier you said it is crucial to be critical of play testing examples, you immediately throttle said poster.

Yeah....You seem to care an awful lot for someone who doesn't care.

Ahaha, I'm done with this. You have once again blatantly misinterpreted what I have said, and so good day to you sir. I'm sick of trying to explain these simple things to you that you obviously will never understand. It's not about caring or not caring or anything like that. It's not about the attempted joke that I was trying to make (about you stealing things from me and being a drain on the economy, that was a joke by the way). It's about the fact that you won't let it go and shut the hell up now. You have continued to fight me on every single thing that I post. I already stated before that I didn't want to argue any more because it's effing pointless and yet you STILL continue with this ridiculousness.

As said before, I'm done with this, I've garnered what I needed about Mystifying Maze and so I thankfully never have to deal with you again. Good luck with your future endeavors.

So guy on the internet (you) who doesn't care about what other people think and doesn't care about what happens on the internet... replys to someone's remarks about them, because they obviously care about what was said.

Usually people who don't care about something, don't even acknowledge or reply to it. So, I guess you're like someone who doesn't care except they care. K.

Because I can do whatever the hell I want, that's called freedom. Sweet, sweet, freedom!

Besides, why should I, a person that doesn't even know who you are, care about what you think or do? In all honesty, I should hate you because you are taking things away from me and putting your own drain on our economy.

Just like you should hate me for the same reasons.

Lucky for you and me, I'm an incredibly nice person. Especially in person. And so even though I should hate you, I don't. I just think you are wrong.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this:

    Deal with it.

    Quote from Obakemono
So, I guess my question is this: Were you killing him in 2 attack steps? If so, the maze only did it's thing once and it hardly mattered what it did it on. If not, then you were mazing the wrong target.

    Yes, actually, I did.

And it did end up mattering, he had me at one life when I killed him. Like I already said before I did the damn math.

If I had been Mazing a token every turn, he would have gotten in for the extra 2 damage from that one measly zombie to kill me.

I don't know why are you trying so hard to disprove me.

    Quote from Obakemono
I would have probably gone with one of the other twenty, then, seeing as this use of Maze mostly makes you look like you have no idea what you're doing. You got lucky in this instance, as your opponent never found removal for your angel or your land, or another significant threat (any of which would have caused the extra 4 power of zombies you were serving him every turn to roll you) but throwing it out there as though it should prove something is less than effective.

While I did indeed get lucky, I also counted out all the damage ahead of time, so I knew that as long as he didn't get anything to help that I would win. Even if it doesn't look likely that you will win, even if the statistics are against you, you shouldn't just give up or play like you won't be able to race. In the end you HAVE to play aggressively sometimes or you will just end up losing where you could have won. Sure I could have kept Baneslayer on blocking detail and Mazed a token every turn. But I didn't, and it won me the game.

In fact, he ended the game with 2 lands in hand and two Mana Leaks that did nothing because I already had Baneslayer on deck and you can't counter the Maze (obviously). The biggest reason I posted that example, instead of any other examples, is because I found it hilarious that I actually raced his Grave Titan with my Baneslayer. I never stated that it was a GOOD example, only that it was an example that was giving me more respect for the card.

The simple fact is, as stated a hundred times now, without Maze I would have lost. There is no denying that FACT of reality. In all truth, he got lucky, not I, because I run about 5 more removal spells in my decklist which would have ended the game at any time. He did have counterspells in hand, but I had around 8 mana on board from the point that he drew the first mana leak (and played another land every turn because I was mana-flooded), so I more than likely could have gotten it through either way.
