And I further submit, that by submitting this, I let it live longer.
Dude it's one thing to speculate based on the trickle of info Wizards releases, but this stuff is based on absolutely nothing, and with all due respect, I think 90% of people who read this are aware that none of what you suggested has even the slightest chance of happening.
Now I'm walking the line on a troll warning here, but I feel i gotta point out, if after two pages the general consensus is 'Cool idea but not likely to happen' and then you start bumping your own thread just to get it talked about more, I have to question whether this is actual speculation or just you trying to stir up some controversy. If it's the matter that'd cool, discussion is good, I'm just saying, if that's your intent you'd be better off going 'Hey what IF this happened' rather than 'this IS what's gonna happen, here's my thinking..." and then offer none.
If you want my personal view on all this - Your ideas are...unique.... but I think Wizards would piss off way too many players (and therefor lose money) by doing what your suggesting, thus it's not really that probable to happen.

Witherer (Common) 1B
2/1 T: CARDNAME deals 1 damage to target creature dealt damage this turn..
Wither (If this would deal damage to a creature, you may put that many -1/-1 counters on that creature instead.)
That seems like an ability that would aptly fit the 'Scar' mechanic we're expecting from R/B.
Hey first time posting in one of these, so if this is considered a 'bad post' I apologize.
I noticed 'Kitchen Finks' speculated creature type is Goblin Rogue on here. I'd just like to point out that given they're furry and clearly eating a metal pan (an artifact) in the art, and we know there is an Ophue in this set, a species known for its artifact hate, it stands to reason that the Finks are Ophues, not Boggarts.
Any way again apologies if this post is 'bad' for this type of thread, just let me know and I'll report to a mod to have it deleted if need be.
EDIT - I'm assuming the art of the furry dudes in the Kitchen is the art for FInks of course. If this assumption is too much of a leap I apologize.
I believe attacking every turn fits the bill and since it says quick I'd assume it would have haste. I know it's very common red trait, but you have to remember not every card is going to have a wacky or unique ability.
After reading through this thread, I'd actually (Orb permitting, I'll check after I post this) not be shocked to see 'Vampire' appear on its creature type line (Kills guys to live/get stronger, blood affiliation, etc.).
But What I really am hoping for is that Redcap is a new creature type. Though it seems unlikely.
Grief Tyrant sounds like it could be part of the HHHHH cycle with the Demigod of Revenge. I hesitate to say that because people have been saying that for pretty much every big creature art we find, but the name in particular has a similar feel (an abstract moral quality, combined with a noun describing a very powerful being).
Plus the Emotion it deals with, Grief is a very U/ one. I think you have something there. Plus both look like Demons, but as we know DGoR is not a demon.... so it seems likely this guy wouldn't be either despite his demonic appearance, likely the same family of fatties as our resurrecting friend.
Sick find dude. I find the 'Dark' qualifier in the names odd but sadly the Orb disproved my sudden hope for a Snow Land alternative.
Still those lands look amazing. The Mountain is terrific and the Plains looks so dark.... I really think Shadowmoore may be as much the darkest flavoured set in Magic history as Lorwyn was the most upbeat. When I heard the 'evil version' gimmick I figured it'd be the normal fare of "corrupted" land and creatures, but the art dept. was really gone all out in making this set look downright terrifying.
They usuall sell left over stock after the pre-release.
Hope this happens, I'd love to pick up a Faerie mat while I'm there. I have a gray snake skin thing but I never use it, so I'll probably just be wasting money, but they look so terrific.
Would have LOVED a Lurebound Scarecrow one even more though....
likely the bat dude is just a bat dude, not a mentor or lord. the Morning tide mats had nothing to do with each other so i doubt these will either
..........
I was only referring to the Faeries, thus 'the new piece of art'. The Bat Rider we already have a name for, and Mentor is not a part of it, and no other Flamekin appear in it. Plus we have the Mentor for this race already from the Ministie puzzle..... there could be more than one per race, but it's unlikely.
Edit -
He was reffering to the puzzle on the minisite, not the bat dude.
Why oh why does my mind scream: "ITS NOT A SCAR!" ???
Because you haven't read Harry Potter, and thus the idea that in a world of magic nd spells, Scars that look like stuff are possible is foreign to you?
I'm screwing around, but really, to refer back to my original post, the idea that this Shaman might do damage to enemies which causes them to wound themselves is a very Black/Red concept, which are the colours these guys are in.
The truth is we don't really know and odds are it's just meant to look cool.
But I don't think with the little info we have we can definitely say it's NOT meant to be something any more than we can confirm it IS meant to be something.
That one fearie seems to be kinda leading the others. Another "Mentor"?
I'm thinking yes. And the fact that it's all Faeries is interesting, considering it's all ...uhh... Scary looking red-black Flamekin guys on the other mentor. Perhaps this is the assistance tribal will get in SHM to help the set sync with Lorwyn better. Although it's just as likley they have colour pair or even monocolour abilities, or perhaps they aren't "lord" style creatures at all.
Really so little is known about mechanics right now past the skin layer. I'm thinking by the end of next week we'll have a better idea about this cycle. They generally examine at least one cycle during the previews and we know about the Demigod and his compatriots already.
If nothing else though, the new art though is unquestionably gorgeous to say the very least.
