========================
There are some bad creatures for the sake of tempo, I'd consider cutting some jank for Scar and Torture, but I ended up thinking that neither would really help me 'win' so I cut them both. Both would be on the Sideboard along with Smash and a few others for certain matchups though.
It's fitting that the least interesting or exciting looking Hideaway land yielded the worst art on its awoken creature, I can't even see how that thing would fit into the hideaway land, then again, the land itself looks like a pointy triangle with some feathers jutting out of it, so maybe it wasn't hiding, maybe the Lorwyn denizens just never wanted to encounter the eyeblight that was that part of the world... so they never ran into him.
My unfunny commentary aside, great limited creature, as other have said, appalling art. This guy and Larry MacDoogal from Lorwyn were two unwelcome additions to the art team, but at least we got Baxa and others back. This card and a few others aside, Shadowmoore remains one of the best looking sets ever, and even this thing is bearable.
Tutor this bad boy out and Glittering Wish ftw. I outlined it more in the thread this was spoiled in, and I may try to throw together a decklist for this section later.
basically, you play G/W control and use this and the Wish to put the gold cards you need to win with in your hand and then from there, into play...
This could have a deck built around it with Glittering Wish!
You could basically have a sideboard of as many different gold options as you need to win under various conditions, and play this spell to enable all your lands to play any of them! That actually might be a viable archetype with some effort...
If any Gold card combos with another, that also makes GW into a great combo enabler, run a deck that gets one piece of the combo or a GW into your hand and side in the other piece(s) you need with the wish, enable you to play the combo in Green/White with this card, and boom! YOu've got yourself a lock(probably).
And with that G/W spell that regenerates any permanent, keeping this enchantment in play seems pretty simple as long as it isn't countered (and if it is GW has all sorts of recovery, not to mention idylic tutor to find it in the first place...)
I'd like to point out as one of the main advocates of the 'Reaper King will be playable' camp, that this card is freaking nuts if you're trying to go five colours.
As someone who's standard deck is built around Chronozoa (yeah yeah I know....) I liekd this card at first glance.
At second glance I noticed it said 'COMBAT' damage though.... I was hoping on using that pinger enchantment we're getting in SHM for shenanigans, but sadly, it doesn't work...
Upsetting card, on first glance it looks fantastic and full of combo potential, only to realize it's jank moments later. On the other hand this thing has potential to be a bomb in limited.
I have a feeling that like Ravnica was the 'test set' for Hybrids, Shadowmoore is gonna be the 'test set' for the Q mechanic. I definitely am expecting to see the untap symbol in 11th edition and new Q cards in each of the new sets to bolster the number of Q guys prior to that. Maybe a dusting (We had 11 in 'moore right?) per each set with a modest power level to establish enough guys to include in the next Core, before the release of the set that more deeply explores 'Q' , as the large set after 11th.
Pure speculation perhaps, but not baseless speculation. This is a mechanic that makes sense as a staple of the game and I look forward to seeing them fill it out in the coming months and years.
For the record I'm on the 'Swans is good' boat, but I gotta say it-
How in four pages have none of the 'Swans is bad' guys not pointed out that it's being released in a set that revolves around -1/-1 counters, an effective way to kill off a creature that avoids direct damage to it?
More to the point, this is just another reason why no one can firmly say it's good nor bad until we've actually seen it played in the environment it is gonna exist in. We don't know what post-Moore standard will be like, all we can do is judge cards based on their potential, and Swans is a card that's loaded with potential.
Will Swans be format defining? Maybe, maybe not. But is it a card we should be excited about based on what we know so far? Abso-freaking-lutely. Anyone prepared to bash this card at this point in time is just looking to stir the proverbial ****, but those trying to defend it need simply point out that the card has the potential to be format breaking, and that should be enough to validate the excitement.
Grrr..... images wotn show up, articles there but the card isn't.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the guy in my siggy actually does, plz don't delete this I'll add my reaction to it via edit after i get the images working...
EDIT - Sweet! My favourite piece of art is on a fantastic little beat stick. (Liek Goblins need another good one drop...)
I love the W/U instant, the flavour of it is a terrific display of the Kithkins' new attitude of paranoia. Combo friendly card too.
What people forget about the White/Blue "God" is that it's Blue and WHite, the colours that have the Untap symbol in a standard environment with Arcane Teachings.
*** and I keep all my guys and a 4/4 that keeps killing each creature you play? GG.

It's not fake, it's an official spoiler form a reputable source, and it isn't April 1st any more...

I smell a combo deck.
*makes note to get fourset along with Reaps' *
Even so, that's Blue land accel on turn three, which I'm sure is somewhat usable. I'm sure someone will find a combo for it.

I'm guessing it's Eve-shifted Ashling.
Wow, GOOD EYE! I hadn't noticed that at all, but you're right!

I disagree, a U/R Flamekin would be very exciting. I loved the Weirds in Guildpact, I hope we do indeed see similar Elementals in Eventide.
