Ogre and Goblins seems to fall in line with Heroscape's naming system for add-on sets that feature additional characters. Generally they do stuff like 'Dragon and Knights' (not an actual example) and it'll come with one large Dragon figure and four or five smaller knights. Given the presence of other Heroscape stuff on that lisrt, it seems to be likely that that one is aso a HS copyright.
Ogre and Goblins is the next premium deck. It will feature 1 Gray Ogre and then some Goblins.
I like how your Core Set has no Grizzly bears in its green common section. (Not even Cylian Elf?)
Plus, as others have pointed out -
*Shocklands
*Vivid Lands
*City of Brass
*Reflecting Pool
.... all in the same set. Are you kidding me?
I love the idea of magic fans getting together and making a 'dream coreset'. However, I would like to see just ONCE, such a group come up with a FEASIBLE 'dream core set' instead of making the most overpowered pile of cardboard ever assembled.
It seems to me that after seeing the bant, esper and naya preview arts that really only esper has filligree. but each preview does show some interesting things.
I think that filligree isnt just that latticed network of .. whatever the hell that is on those esper mages. But that filligree is a manifestation of a colour of mana that you channel most often changing you.
Id say that for Naya, the reason weve seen only a few leonin (or lion people , whatever) so far is because that is nayas filligree. you channel to much green mana you become more and more beast like and animalistic. thats a key thing with green.
Id say that in Bant, those glowing little golden clusters or maybe even the angels themselves were once human, and that they became angels via the transformation that white mana brings to them.
etc etc etc.
What do you guys think?
I think this may be correct. Look at the Grixis guys, they have those coral/volcanic/cancerous lumps growing off them, and the OP mentions the cat like features, the light/holiness of the angels, etc.
I don't think it will be 'filigree' per say, but each Shard's locals may have a visual trait that develops the more adept they are at that colour's magic.
Great thinking by the OP.
On Esper of course it has to do with caste systems, look at who's in charge - blue white and black, colours that value power. The social status doesn't cause the growth, the power does and therefor more powerful people are more filigree laden, they're the nobles.
Meanwhile on Grixis' shard, you got the bigger scarier guys covered in that coral/cancer, and the lions in Bant, etc etc.
I think the OP has stumbled onto one of the major themes of this upcoming block.
Gah... I really hope not, I hate dropping forty bucks just to play the damn colours I want to use. We have enough duals already, really the Moore lands on top of the LOR ones was a bit much as is, I don't really think we need another cycle of fixers, especially ones this freaking good.
Most of those are terrific, the only two I don';t like are the Goblin and the
Spirit. I don't like this whole human-looking Goblin thing Eventide is doing, and the Spirit looks ridiculous, but the others, the Goat and the Elemental in particular look great.
Because they are anoing and they are currently the strongest race by far, so they really need a break for like, 3 or 4 blocks. Which will be counted for blocks with Merfolk/Elves/Kithkin and Zombies together.
Alara will be 'The Goblin Block' in which every creature is a goblin and ever Sorcery, Instant Enchantment and Artifact will have the 'Tribal' Supertype and count as a Goblin.
In addition, a new supertype will be introduced, collectively known as 'Goblin Lands' which will also count as Goblins.
Other new mechanics will include Goblin Counters, Goblincycling, and a Planeswalker who is a Goblin.

On a serious (not really) note, I'd love to see Noggles come back in Alara on the grounds that they are the most awesome thing ever. I'm thinking it isn't likely though. Hags, Noggles and sadly probably Kithkin will for the most part remain in their happy home as part of the Lorwyn/Shadowmoore block until Mark Rosewater gets a developer's block and decides that two years is enough time to make something nostalgic and bring them back en masse.
It's a stinkingmerfolk. Even without any of these it untaps as a minimum 4/4 next turn. I guess I need to find my Lords... of all the things to give blue, it didn't need this at all, but I'll take it
Plus it's pretty hard for the typical "dies to removal" options when Merfolk decks have counterspells up the wazoo, not to mention a guy who grants Merfolk protection. This card is pure bred nuts.
Yet another brilliant addition for Doran Rock. Even with Inside Out threatening its very way of life, I see enough good cards in GB to keep that tank of a deck trucking well into Shards of Alara.
Great, Faeries now has an answer to Doran Rock, Faerie Decks really need MORE ways to beat the few decks that can do well against them... *is a peeved Doran player*
Cool beans dude, thanks for posting. This set looks great.
Great scot, a Red/White Counterspell that destroys people's whole turns.
Unfortunately the red aspect is a bit moot since htis will generally be played in response to win con-dudes and big creatures in order to 'buy an extra turn'.
Holy expletive deleted! I may run this in every white deck I own, that is pure bred nuts right there!
Double Cleave is actually Stndard playable in the right deck. Just now I was thinking about my Doran build, with this as a combat trick, I can smash for 14 points of damage turn four with an ideal hand. And its uses extend to every other potential attacker.
Very scary card, especially with G/W's strength and R/W's assumed strength in EVN.
LOL!!

I'm going to laugh my ass off if at Worlds, some Japanese player Top-8's with a deck that breaks this card.
Alternately, Bog Hoodlums-Aggro.

That makes it a lot less powerful than I thought then. Bummer.
Still a fantastic spell but wont have the monowhite applications I thought it would.

He's not finished drawing it in that pic dude, he hasn't even done the details yet...
