    You mean other than zoo?

ehhh Zoo is still manageable... my fault here I was referring to suicide black with rituals and carnophages and hatred.... against high pressure, sunscour's pitch ability is'nt too shabby. But that is from another time, in the current environment (T2) its not that fast so the sunscour might not be that significant.

  • posted a message on Did you make any weird decks when you were a noob?
I played a phasing deck with vodalian Illusionist and sands of time, and breezekeepers it was a weird deck- the idea was to lock my opponent's deck out and mess with their mana... But I did not playtest enough... it died to a burn deck... I sideboarded COP: red. .... But because of sands of time, my mana was also fluctuating... I died an embarassing death.

ehh depends, I normally go to prereleases as the people are usually casual, I myself am casual and i like to see people having fun (yeah even when i am losing Wink prereleases are about fun).

But say i meet some serious bloke, then its duel mode Wink and we play serious. Nothing nasty, just real competition (ermm with what ever decks we had made of course =P).

Say I meet an anal guy. Well... I have met my share and I can be anal as well Wink

But having said that, some things like upkeep, I try to be strict about it on myself, as it is part of the rules afterall. At the tourny level, you really want to play your best. Your opponent is unlikely to let you take back a move, especially if it affects board position substantially, and really should not if you think about it.. why bother with the rules then no Wink .

In a prerelease setting though, if my opponent misses one, is a nice guy, I can let it pass, no biggy - though if I miss one later and he tries one on me, that really riles me, but I'll just suck it and hold him to his own moves from then on - usually they can't. Mostly I let my opponent set the tone and just have fun.

  • posted a message on Kamigawa vs. Ravnica
I like both, but Ravnica brought back multicoloured goodness! Kamigawa had more variance in power level while in Ravnica the power variance is less. The fact that you can build so many decks, that was fun.

That said Kamigawa felt like it brought in alot of fun stuff, but the support cards were not quite there. But what I liked about Kamigawa was that the power of the cards were largely subtle (ignoring the bombs).

    .....

using poison to destroy or sharpen the mind .

wow.. you really thought through this =D

I like the part where poison is used to destroy or sharpen the mind.... its like a poisoning effect!

    2) The point of playing Wrath is card advantage. You play Wrath, destroy 3 or more of their creatures. For one of your cards, they lose 3. Good stuff. Sunscour, on the other hand, costs 2 (WHITE!) cards to do, and then you lose 3 and they lose 3. No advantage there.

ehh... that is correct... but there are times when I play control and I get screwed by a speed deck (e.g. suicide black)... sun scour allows to at least survive (and if you think about it you kinda break even in terms of card advantage). Granted there are no speed decks today =) but just something to point out

Scrying Sheets will be expensive once everybody realizes it's like a Top that works better with a Top. The Angel is awesome, yes, but it lacks the crucial skill of Not Dying Easily.

If only they allowed the Valkyrie to target herself =(

the angel about five dollars the viper will go down to about 2 dollars when people will finally see how overated he is!

    hehe I think... it will be 3-4 .. 2 seems a little low =)

Actually.. one of the worst things that can happen is if people pay ridiculously high prices and it sets an unnatural floor on the minimum price (although it will eventually fall to a price that resonates with its actual value.)

early game manaleak is a wee bit better, mid to late game rune is better. Though whether does it matter?? Depends on how late in the game and the kind of deck your opponent is playing

indeed, there are ways to make cards to make use of poison, maybe some of the better effects come at the cost of that other player removing a poison counter...
    i can see cards as:

    Venom delerium 2B
    Sorcery
Target player discards a card for each poison counter they have.

    -or-

    Nightshade Assassin 2BB
    creature - human assassin
Tap: Destroy target creature owned by a player that has a poison counter. That player removes a posion counter.
    1/1

Actually... those are pretty interesting ideas.... =)

putting a negative effect to remove counters

I think the valkyrie will settle at 4, about firemane angel price or less. The viper would be 3-4. All this is when it settles of course.

The viper is a very good card, but not overly powerful and hence will not be sky high in price. (Though now it is probably going to be pricy)
. But the viper is better than the cutpurse. What the cutpurse lacked desperately was evasion of some kind. Give it that and you have a much better card (like the shadowmage infiltrater.. )

  • posted a message on Do You Like Jitte?
I like Jitte.... but it is overpowered... (well for a while..) I like cards with power. But it has been argued before, more power with each set and it creeps up. Then they have to crash it (the power level). So for the game no.. but as a card to take out once in a while, *shrug*

One of the reasons I like poison is that it is an alternate win condition.

Like milling. Or the bunch of cards that set new conditions for winning (can't remember them at the moment...). The game play/state changes when the win condition changes. That is interesting to me.

    Quote from Jerry Only »

i´d rather have poison do another effect on the player, i.e. narrowing his memory (handsize, casting cost of spells,...)
youre handsize is reduced by on for each poison counter
you may not play spells with cc equal to the number of poison counters or less.
opponent may discard a hand card for for to remove a poison counter.
    just some random thoughts...

That would be some ways to push poison =)

  • posted a message on Poison Counters: have you ever won/lost because of them
Won with poison before, and always coming close.

Thing is poison is a very fast clock, hence delivery is always made difficult. That is the reason for its suckhood status. That is also why some of us like to try to make it work. For the victory is all the sweeter. Wink
