If I turn up a sorcery or instant during my upkeep with X in the casting cost (e.g. Fireball), how will that work?
If I turn up an instant with a kicker cost (e.g. Into the Roil), will I have the option of using the kicker? (If so I presume I would have to pay the kicker cost; is that correct)?
I just put together a new Highlander deck which attempts to abuse instant and sorcery spells. There are a number of interactions, however, about which I am unsure...
1. Can I imprint Isochron Scepter with an instant having X in its cost? (e.g. Starstorm) If so, when I use it on the Scepter can I then pay whatever I like for X?
2. I haven't checked varying Oracle texts, but i assume that phrases like "when you play an instant or sorcery" and "when you cast an instant or sorcery" are functionally identical (and also mean essentially "when you put an instant or sorcery on the stack") - is that correct?
3. There are a number of means of copying spells in the deck (e.g. Izzet Guildmage; Melek, Izzet Paragon). Comparing these to cards that I may have in play that have triggered abilities depending on a cast instant/sorcery (e.g. Kiln Fiend, Young Pyromancer), I assume that the original spell cast will cause the ability to trigger but NOT any copy - is that correct?
4. Will a spell imprinted on, and "cast" via, Isochron Scepter cause a triggered ability (described in 3 above) to in fact trigger?
5. If a spell with a kicker (e.g. Into the Roil, Burst Lightning) is imprinted on Isochron Scepter, will I have the option of using the kicker when I play/copy it from the Scepter?
There may be more but that's all I can think of right now... All assistance is gratefully accepted!
If I activate Pendelhaven targeting the native (1/1) Skinshifter, and then activate the Sknshifter's ability (say, 4/4 Rhino), what is the Skinshifter's resultant P/T?
Some effect or another causes the Finks (which now has Persist and Undying) to die. Does it:
1. come back with a +1/+1 counter on it; or
2. come back with a -1/-1 counter on it; or
3. come back with no counter(s) on it*; or
4. not come back at all; or
5. stumble into the men's - perhaps's ladies' - room due to total confusion?
*as a result of coming back with a +1/+1 and a -1/-1 and the two counters cancel each other out
My guess is #3, but I certainly defer to the higher expertise lurking out there...
If I have a Maelstrom Nexus on the battlefield, and I play a CC1 card (e.g. Figure of Destiny), and there are NO spells of CC-0 in the deck... what happens?
This is a deck that I believe could be good. In online testing it seems to hold its own against a good variety of archetypes... OTOH, I will admit that the last 2 local Modern tournaments I attended the deck (and/or I) performed poorly. I do believe that I was plagued by poor luck (example: against a RDW/Goblins deck, I never saw ANY Kor Firewalkers OR Kitchen Finks in either of games 2 or 3), but that's usually an excuse that simply doesn't wash.
At any rate, please judge for yourself.
The idea is to disrupt through some removal and a lot of bouncing, and then use the utility creatures to deal sufficient damage a little at a time (usually into a clear, or near clear, opponent's board). If the deck can develop, it can often produce a near-total lockdown.
6. I have Galvanoth in the deck.

Questions:
1. I assume this will be Theros sealed?
2. What time does it begin?
3. Is it still on? Your website says the store is closed until further notice.

I'm guessing that the answer is "no" but becomes "yes" only if I avail myself of the Fuse and cast both sides... is this correct?
You might consider posting this on http://www.highlandermagic.info/ since they specialize in non-Commander HL.
Good luck!!
