When the modern meta goes back to being a real meta, Courser of Kruphix could really be worh it. When decks like Jund and Burn exist again, Courser's value will skyrocket. Against Eldrazi? Well, there's not a whole lot of reason to not play Eldrazi anyway.

Archangel chord run full playset of hierarchs typically.

Kiki chord is lighter on hierarchs but also just a severely questionable deck.

Ehhh I think it's a good deck. It looked like a pile of garbage but I played a decent amount of games with it now and it was surprisingly good. The fact that it's evolved to a 61/62 card deck now is funny though.

Am I correct in thinking that this thread is now considered the place to discuss the non-retreat combo versions of Bant Company?

    http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/modern/modern-archives/modern-archives-established/607416-bant-company-5-2015-12-2015?page=10

The original thread was closed a while ago due to overlap in discussion with this thread, so I just want to know where the best place to discuss non-combo versions of this deck would be.

I have been off the combo version for quite a while now and have been very happy playing without it, and now with the deck top 8'ing GP Bologna, I have a feeling there could be a resurgence in discussion for the Bant Company decks, but I am unsure that this thread is the place.

@ktkenshinx if you see this, is there any potential for the original Bant Company thread to be unlocked? Or would you consider this to be the place to discuss that deck as well? As someone who has played both extensively, I don't really think they belong in the same thread at this point considering the evolutions of both decks.

Apparently this is the place for that discussion, which is strange. I think it'd make more sense to have a dedicated Value Company thread that could include Company Zoo and such, but that's not up to me.

I did, though, take a look at that GP list and it convinced me to try out 4x Reflector Mage. The card so far feels more impactful than Smiter/Geist/etc. Company into Reflector Mage has been great every time it happened.

What do you guys think about dromoka's command?

Since the card was printed I always have between 2-3 copies in the 75, and whenever I feel like Aether Vial is in a bad spot I'll put 2x in the main. It's worse now that Twin is gone since it was the perfect swiss army knife vs that deck, and in general the meta shift has been unfavorable for the card, but once Eldrazi is banned out the meta should shift around to where it's good again.

Went 2-1 tonight with the following list -

matches were U/W Gifts Tron (2-0), Boggles (1-2), Grixis Control (2-0).

I tried playing the full four Wilt-leaf Liege because I'm still pretty new to the deck, and I can see why people play less than 4. Are there any other good 4-drops worth playing?

I usually go 3 Liege 1 Linvala. I'll play Thrun if the meta calls for it. I also had a version of the deck that was 4 Finks, 3 Resto, 3 Wilt-Leaf, and Gavony Township instead of Tec Edge. It was fun grinding people into submission with that.

    So.

That new Eldrazi deck currently making up 6 of the Top 8.

    How do we fight that?

I understand our Ghost Quarters are good, but their T-K Seers can rid our hands of our major threats, we're so light on removal that we can't effectively remove them all, and our bears are smaller than them all.

Hushwing Gryff, Ghostly Prison, Worship. The deck is almost entirely permanents with very few ways to interact with the board. Landing a flier and having Worship out is practically GG.

Pre-PT, the Eldrazi decks were based around "When this card is cast" effects, now it's an aggro deck with ETB cards, so Hushwing Gryff finally does something again.

Why are we discussing jamming bad standard cards into a modern deck? We're playing modern, we have access to cards that are actually good. Life's Legacy and Warrior's Lesson aren't even good enough for standard. Abzan Charm is also not good enough for standard. It's a terrible in place of Path since it costs GWB vs just W and is only situational removal that can't hit relevant creatures like Dark Confidant, Exarch/Pestermite, any burn creatures, etc.

I think Sorin is best vs BGx and can be good vs burn if you get him out before they have lethal. Good attrition card that modern doesn't have a lot of 1-for-1 answers. I've always had it in the spot where people typically put Feed The Clan because I absolutely hate that card.

I don't think Kolagan's Command is all that good of a card against the deck. Discard is risky against a deck running Smiter/Liege, and having access to scooze and dromoka's command is very helpful.

I was the top seed , beat UR Twin and lost to Jund in the semifinals thanks to turning into a total idiot (judge called myself for drawing extra cards because I can't count, missing out on a Voice token when Voice died which I almost never do). Here was my list:

I was deciding between Hushwing Gryff, Mirran Crusader, or Kitchen Finks in the slot that Gryff won out on. Turned out to be the correct call as I still beat Burn twice and Jund in the swiss. It was also a nifty card against Twin (I lost to Twin in the swiss and beat the same person for Top 4). There's a lot of good creatures with ETB effects and when you have guys like Noble Hierarch and Qasali Pridemage, the evasion can put on a convincing clock.

The total stinker was the 2x Gaddock Teeg. I put him in there as a hedge against Collect Call decks which I don't think anyone even played. If I were to do it over, I would probably put in Kor Firewalker or something.

Dromoka's Command is an amazing card. It's Burrenton Forge-Tender stapled onto a removal card that also hits Blood Moon and Keranos. More often than not I found myself siding in the 3rd copy.

Thoughts on running the Dark Depths combo package? I recently started trying it out and whenever I felt like there was a safe avenue to go for it, it always handily won the game.

One of the biggest problems I've encountered with Linvala as a commander is probably the only mono-white commander with a bigger bullseye is Hokori. I tried jamming with Linvala (and about every monowhite commander you can think of), but settled on Eight-and-a-Half-Tails. He's perfect for a controlling mono-white general because the longer the game goes, the more powerful he gets. He's also a better equipment general since he can essentially make himself unblockable, or blank equipment removal.

I would remove the soul sisters. They're dead space. Lifegain doesn't do anything unless you have cards like Felidar Sovereign or Test of Endurance.

I dropped aven mindcensor awhile back and have never regretted it. Occasionally you would get lucky with the card and its always good against scapeshift but the failure rate after responding to fetches, its general terribleness vs lingering souls which is big again, and being an x/1 in a format with electrolyze in a deck with mana dorks convinced me to drop it.

Paying three mana for a 2/1 flier is just not a big enough impact in modern right now imo. I would much rather drop a finks or brimaz T2 and make them deal with it or lose than possibly catch their fetchland.

I have had some issue with affinity in my local meta so that's why I have four sideboard slots dedicated to it atm but I dont think I would go less than three at a major event.

I moved Aven Mindcensor to the side after pod was banned and have never regretted it. The card still comes in and saves my ass against decks that love library search (Bloom Titan, Scapeshift, Tron, etc.) so it still deserves a spot, but Brimaz has pulled more weight in Aven Mindcensor's spot than Mindcensor would have.

People are calling it Podless Pod, but the deck is like 75% of GW Hatebears runs and the "pod" cards are cards already played in Hatebears (this thread has plenty of GWb Hatebears brewing that make the deck like 90% the same). I'll make the safe assumption and bet I've won by going Hierarch -> Smiter -> two bears -> Wilt-Leaf Liege more than any pod deck. I've already had opponents call my deck "podless pod" because I play Hierarch, Voice, and Finks but Pod didn't have a trademark on those cards.

What does everyone think of the haterhino list? I wasn't able to see any games so far but I did see the list and it looks interesting.

I'm in love. I just need to order a few lands and I'm set. I'd want to fit in abrupt decay and scavenging ooze, but I'm most likely going to order the remaining cards for it today and take it to the next fnm.
