    Hello all!

This was my first Magic Event, and I had a blast! Watched a Serendib Efreet get pulled, as well as a Foil Lotus Cobra (very pretty). I had a good card pool in Misty Rainforest, Scute Mob, Summoning Trap, Sphinx of Jwar Isle, Hellkite Charger, and Bloodchief Ascension. I played Green/Blue/Black since I had support in Jwar Isle Refuge, 2 Harrow, Mold Shambler, Whiplash Trap, 3 Giant Scorpions, Living Tsunami, and a bunch of blue fliers, black removal, and green combat tricks like Vines of Vastwood and Tanglesap.

Overall, I did 1-3 with every round going all three games. 2 of the 3 loses were to top 4 players, so I didn't feel so bad. Had a lot of fun and cant wait till the next event I attend!

Oh wait its not a fight to the death.

Still think Han, since the rules seem to play more to his "field" of expertise.

Its really time to start brushing off the Scion of ur Dragons and Pillar of the Paruns. My favorite dragon so far is this one, but they are all 6/6 flyers for 6 mana with cool abilities. And everyone is fussing that they will just be kill targets, well thats true for every creature that doesnt have "cant be the target of..."

  • posted a message on Mirrodin 2?
I think that Planar Chaos, if all speculation is correct concerning it will contain Timeshifted cards from Mirrodin-Ravnica, will contain quite a few artifacts from the Mirrodin block, hence the cards containing the synergy with them. You can also see the "leaning" of mono colored decks thru the mana cost of alot of the actual Time Spiral cards (minus cards like Sedge Sliver with a second color in an activation cost). Cards like Swarmyard will work well with any rat ninjas that show up Timeshifted, plus Future site may contain more cards with synergy of both the artifacts and some of the other cards that just dont seem to fit. Academy Ruins, Mishra, Urza's Factory, etc are all cards that are printed because there is a way to do it, fitting with the theme, and are cards revolving around key characters and locations. Even without more artifacts in T2, these are cards that they felt needed printing for reflection, as well as they are decent cards outside of T2 and also for collectors. If the next set Timeshifts us into Mirrodin and Kamigawa, expect plenty of artifacts (mirrodin has plenty, and kamigawa had alot of equipment, plus things like Sensei's Devining Top) so dont expect these cards to be completely useless in T2.

  • posted a message on Sengir Nosferatu: The "real" new Morphling?
The arguement has been made recently when Windreaver was compared to Morphling, that Morphling was so good because of two things. 1, untargetability, and 2, a fist full of counter and bounce spells. The sengir is a very strong card on its own, and can be played in a wider array of decks that morphling, which usually was the lone kill condition. The sengir has less protection from spells that morphling did with his untargability for 1 mana, and his backdrop of counterspells from the mage wielding him. Sengir can get away from a kill spell for 2 mana, but he leaves behind a feeble little bat. Either way, having your opponent use atleast two kill spells to remove one creature is always a good thing.

I think Morphling is a more powerful card in a deck that revolves around him, but I think Sengir can find more homes, pretty much in any deck running black, where Morphling was only really effective in mono blue control.

  • posted a message on [TS] preconstructed decks
didnt read the entire thing, but just wanted to point out on starcitygames the silver deck cost 12 dollars, where the others only cost 7.50. I thought it was weird at first, then I remembered that the sliver precons always jumped in price later... I think around 40 bucks for the first one.

  • posted a message on What will be the most expensive card in Time Spiral ??
I think most of you are on the right track, however Wheel of Fate can be played in just about any Red deck, and will see play other than type two. Stuffy Doll has so many combo tricks, especially in T1, thats it will be sought after when TS rotates out. Psi Blast is blue direct damage, and there is a 1 in 121 chance of getting it in a T2 booster. Thats 1 out of 3 boxes... so that rarity alone will keep its price high, especially when it was already atleast 15-20 before TS... now its T2 playable.

Also, Angels Grace could be the next Orim's Chant. Now granted, I dont think its as good, but I remember when Orims Chant first came out, and I trade something like 2 Spiritmongers for 2 FOIL Orims Chants. No one appreciated it at first, then later it became a chase rare. Angel's Grace can be thrown on an Iso. Scepter, and can stop alot of decks on their "big win move" such as when a Nantuko or Psycotog is pumped and swings for a kill, and can save you from a giant Vore . Nullifies Zoo finishing attacks and that big SSS when it swings for the last 6. If a red mage blasts a kill shot with a Fireball/blaze spell, you will be glad to have 1 or 2 in your deck. I know that most people would say that its better to have something helpful instead of something that lets you live for 1 more turn, but as I said throw it on a scepter, and in T2 there may be some tricks on the way...

That legend that gives +2/+2 to tramplers would be great if enough good creatures with tramples come along. SSS for a 8/8 swing anyone? I see enough people playing R/G/U to imagine it happening soon at a tournament.

That Magus will go down in value soon, since they are not quite as good as the cards they are emulating. when your 10-15 dollar rares dies to a kill spell before it can even do its intended effect, people will get frustrated. There are waaaaay too many kill spells out there right now, thanks to ravnica block, and the cool ones we just got including Psi blast and the ons of black removal.

  • posted a message on New "Hive leader" Sliver to come?
A new one will most likely be on its way, another 5 color 7/7 baddy, and who knows, maybe a purple Queen will arrive soon and there will be a conflict between the slivers following her and the ones following the new leader. A sliver vs sliver showdown!

just hang on man, it always gets better.

and as for your deck, make your own. If you try to copy any of the high ranked decks, you'll just end up playing against a ton of people that either know the deck better than you or have prepared for that deck.

  • posted a message on Restore Balance + Greater Gargadon
I say play Greater Gargadon in a White/Red deck like this...

Use a Wrath or Armageddon, sacrifice creatures or lands to remove counters, then a 9/7 comes in swinging with no blockers, and if you played armageddon, more than likely he will be able to swing again without being blocked. You have to make sure you are timing these so the lands or creatures you sacrifice as the Wrath or Armageddon resolves can bring the suspended creature into play. This works for other suspended creatures too I guess, but there's nothing like a 9 damage swing.

  • posted a message on Ohran Viper vs Shadowmage Infiltrator
The mage is the superior card due to Fear, but green still likes the snake as its a kill spell/card drawer depending on if a creature is in front of him or not. The mage doesnt have to worry about much combat damage if any, where the snake may take of a creature, but anything with atleast 3 power kills it too. Both are great in almost any deck with their colors, but Mage wins on a card vs card.
