I want Eltectrickery foiled and a wall piece from the artist... That's gorgeous
Lobber is a great throwback to Goblin Sharpshooter in a relevant set!
Racecourse Fury might be the only haste spell I ever run. That's a great threat on the table at all times
first page of black, i was cheering for the imp and the spirit. Shambler and launch party are even relevant in limited and thrill kill assassin too...but stab wound is hilarious. decent interesting card...laughable facial expression.
Betrayal is well...i can't wait to draft it with sadness and then get forced to play it, then end up actually casting it...then it winning me the game...limited is going to be awkward and fun
I have been thinking this very thing. Though we have only seen a small portion of the available card pool. I am expecting to see more impressive unleash abilities and enablers, more counters/exile spells, and other interesting one-off abilities at the common level - much like our original visit to Ravnica had.
I have been anticipating exile spells replacing counters for a few days now, just before it seemed like a cycle of uncounterables was happening. I think we will see some experimentation from R&D with expensive exiling spells, testing to see how dangerous they can be.
More on that - specifically, exiling can be more dangerous than countering outright since so many cards like picking through the graveyard, even izzet likes that...
Also, there's way too much negativity on spoiled cards. I have always been happy to see cards getting spoiled. We should be thankful and understand that the more complaining that occurs, the less people will have to spoil. Most of the spoiling is controlled by wizards for promotional purposes now - that may not be entirely accurate accurate.
People used to be more receptive of new information on this board and I would like to petition for a call-back to that mentality of acceptance and interest and less aggressive criticism on every detail of every card when we are barely a third into an unspoiled set. /my 2 cents
All the same, I am still very excited about this set and can't wait to see what commons start showing up, as they tend to be what we deal with most at the prerelease/release events soon to come.
aaaaaaaaaand thats awesome. this is like one of the first massive black monsters that doesnt really have a down side...if hes killing off critters tapped, great!
-4 cmc for a HUGE beater with evasion or 4 cmc for an permanent that reads "Each turn Opponent sacrifices a creature unless they like facing a 6/6 flier on the board. The only way of getting rid of this is by wasting a creature destruction spell on it."
I was going through all my old Rav stuff last night wondering where some of the jaw-dropping creatures were. I am content. A very aggressively costed creature for black.
edit: All of this excitement and I forgot completely about the +1 +1 counters...
I think the issue is, that people are just paying a lot more attention to the foil lands. Before when you cracked a foil lands you didn't bat an eye so they probably weren't as common as we think because we just didn't pay attention. Now that they are highly sought after ever single foil we open that isn't a basic land is noted in our minds
ok so i just wanna say: No, i made this forum because i ALWAYS paid attention to the number of foil basics pulled. its been like one per box since....kamigawa(when i started buying boxes regularly) and im sure the number isnt much different from before that point.
i dont think im crazy in suggesting that foil lands have been made more rare. and further i think from all the responses that it seems most people are not coming by these as frequently either. the point of this post being to point out that, with all the feedback, my hypothesis is looking more accurate.
Now i would like to see more feedback on the value of them. a buck? seems kinda low as the original full arts used to pull in 2-3...
Saw a foil forest the other day, they are basically as rare as trying to get any specific foil...?
If you were to ask how many of cards X, Y, or Z was, they would all be pretty rare, you realize this, right?
youre insane. there are LOTS of basic land cards... what 4 per color? thats 20 cards... this is a concern that they have been MADE rarer than they were. and im sure now that they have been. whether they were intentionally made LESS rare than they should have been when they first started printing rares is something i cannot say.
but it seems the results stand here on the site. foil rares are much harder to come by than before. by all accounts you should probably come across a foil land out of two boxes. they are common. perhaps they are being treated as rares, as there is only one land per pack...eh? theory and speculation...maybe the wrong place for this thread...
Edit: i just want to re-state that i have no interest in foil fetches or any other land but basics... for this thread
alrght....dammit, just opened a second box with a buddy...ONE verdant catacombs... BS, im pretty bummed about it... box was crap except for ob nixilis and bloodghast... and warren instigator ...bad box...

Not bragging at all. I honestly just realized that my count in good pulls was pretty amazing...
Ive been reading the number of mythics people were getting per box. then i came back here to check on the fetch counts per box...
i got 4 nonfoil and one foil fetch in my box. the foil one should not be focused on too much as it could have been any foil rare really, i just got lucky. Four seems to be about one higher than most reports.
the other thing that surprised me was the fact that i got 6 mythics in the one box. cobra, mindbreak trap and warren instigator. the others werent so good...
does 6 seem very high for a mythic count? 5 fetches was pretty awesome, even 2 in my fat pack totalling 7.
Just flipped through the weird little comic they put in the fat packs... Does anyone think that that last picture in the last page looks an awful lot like Ravnica? Seems early to start revisiting doesnt it?
I've managed only 2 in 4 boxes. It is weird that they should be rarer than a foil rare.
ratio of rares to lands in the set? maybe it isnt weird.. do the foil runs discriminate rarity at all?
i really did average 2 to 3 foil lands a box. ive opened a box for each new set for the last 6 or so blocks... it didnt surprise me much as i have always assumed they just kinda stuck more foil lands in packs than any other foil cards... mostly just assuming this for dumb reasons i conspired about, but i stand by that 2 to 3 number, even for my m10 box -- i think i got 3
hmmm, ok well thats good but sad.... i was kinda happy i was probably going to pull at least 2 or 3 foil lands from my box, but 2/3 in i havent seen one... definitely a downer. well thanks guys for the conifrmation
green has lots of good stuff but man its gunna cost you to scavenge those commons....
