DDR? Why not Pump It Up? Most of my friends play it, even I tried it a couple of times, and so it seems superior to me. But sure, you can have both, yeah.
Oh, and that part about Babelfishing the blog got me interested. As a beginner linguist (and a teacher of foreign languages), I wonder what troubles you in Japanese language the most. Is it the kanji?

HOLY ****I, for one, am not a big fan of Makoto "Ours" Shinkai's works, but yeah, just a handshake with him would be enough to die without regrets. Now, go and find grandpa Miyazaki!Posted in: The Weary Gaijin: The Chronicles of Mr. Stuff

Outlast is actually my favorite ability of the bunch, since it's very Spike-y (it seems I'm slowly turning into a Timmy-Spike). Do I pump my creature and bring it over the top or keep it as a blocker, not to mention save mana for other spells? Both creatures spoiled so far are going to make for some exciting plays even when you only have one of them.
Prowess turns all your spells into combat tricks, so it feels very URW. None of the creatures are that exciting, but I like that they present your opponent with difficult choices. The Elder makes you choose between respecting it and letting through or blocking it and risking getting it pumped, the Aven simply flies, and the Double Dragons can get really ugly if you don't block them - even if they don't have any spells to pump them with! Prowess.dec is going to be difficult to build, but when someone does, it will be a thing of beauty.
Delve certainly takes its sweet time showing its strengths so far: I'd like to see a Delve spell that costs 2 or 3 mana, not 7 or 8. But because of that, I'm even more intrigued by what the Sultai have in store, especially since they're supposed to spend other resources, too. Something Channel/Phyrexian mana-like, maybe?
Raid is both straightforward and intricate in that you can always easily trigger it if you want to, but if they've got better board, you're going to lose attackers quickly, so those Raid effects better be worth the trouble. And so far, they feel like they do.
Ferocious makes me wonder why it isn't on Temur Ascendancy - after all, it cares about 4 power, as well. I can't wait for their own version of Woolly Thoctar, and wonder how blue fits into the picture. Maybe we can finally get huge Simic monsters we didn't get that many of in RTR.
Loving the Morph overlay, and I like getting Lifelink fatties with a discount. Hopefully more creatures are going to be like this than like Thousand Winds.
Temur stays very RG with no U in sight, so I'm getting very close to going Sultai rather than my favorite three-color combo. There's still time before the release, but it's hard to resist the clan of snake people and cool cat demons.
I don't really want to continue this argument, especially since your side ended up right, while my didn't, but I honestly don't feel it was that crazy to look deeper into his statement. When a person is invested in something very much, it takes a while for him to admit that the object of his investment is no more (I think the stages of grief are vaguely related to it). When someone wants an Un-3 announcement very much, considers the possibility of it over three days, finds no concrete reason to doubt it, and then gets shot down by the man himself, one can't simply drop the idea right there, and tries to twist the statement so it confirms the theory instead. It all feels natural from such point of view, even if people who never expected Un-3 can't see how MaRo's statement could be read as anything but dismissal.
Basically, I can see where both sides were coming from, and hope you can do the same.
There we go. Now I'm officially intrigued.
Just like this post was a firm "No" for Conspiracy.
MaRo is a writer, he knows his way around words. If he wanted to deny the possibility of Un-3, he'd have said it in a way that leaves no doubt, like with GDS3. But he didn't, people still hope for Un-3, and I don't believe it's just because MaRo wasn't careful with his phrasing.
Also, you shouldn't exclude people that don't fit your argument to try and prove your point.
Because Magic is not just about Constructed play (or tournament play, for that matter).
Guess I'll just go and ask MaRo, myself.
And GDS3 is out.
Thing is, there is no way to announce Un-3 without undercutting whatever product is being in the focus right now. Doing it right before the Fall set might be the best idea simply because of the sheer amount of info we get right afterwards.
No he didn't, he said he wishes it was about Un-3, which is a fine wording to weasel around.
Well yeah, it'd have to belong to one of the clans to be a prerelease promo.
This might be the most flavorful take on a throne in Magic so far - and it's in a set with no kings or kingdoms. Don't see it as fake, mostly because the artwork is new.
It also had hazel, gray and other eye colors. On the other hand, they seriously considered adding the sixth color in Planar Chaos.
The announcement being about Un-3 would not contradict "Man, I wish it was about Un-3". Considering the context of a humorous set, I wouldn't even consider it a lie, though the line between a lie and a joke is indeed pretty thin. And I would certainly prefer something no one called over something that's on everyone's mind, like Un-3.
Depending on your point of view, this post have either confirmed or de-confirmed the Un-3 announcement. And honestly, I'm leaning towards the former.
There are basically four points to consider while discussing this matter.
1) It's an article written by MaRo. Not only is he the lead designer of Magic, but he's also the face of Magic, the color pie guru, the historian of the game, the Un-set enthusiast, a banana hater, and so on. There must be a reason he's the one who's dishing out the goods rather than, say, Aaron Forsythe.
2) It's the weekly column, not an Arcana or a feature article. Making Magic is usually about, well, making Magic, but it's sometimes used just as a platform for MaRo to talk about anything he wants to. But since he expects every member of Magic community to be talking about it, I'd say it's probably related to Magic's very core.
3) It's bigger than anything else he's ever announced before. Remember the article about Lorwyn-Shadowmoor block structure? How about the M10 core set revamp? Did he preview those articles with "Every single one of you is going to be discussing this for days?". I believe he didn't. Now, mind you, everything he says causes some waves over the social networks, but there must be a reason for him to stress it even further than usual. That, or he's just exaggerating.
4) It's something that they don't want to reveal after KTK's release. The most obvious reason I see is that they're afraid of this announcement drawing all the attention from KTK - if it really is as huge as MaRo implies it to be, I wouldn't be surprised if it's even bigger than the first set in a brand-new block. Then again, the same can happen even if they announce it before the previews, but at least we get three to four weeks for it to be overshadowed by the new cards and world info. It might also be something that they want us to know about KTK before we get to see the main bulk of info, but why do it in a weekly column rather than at a con or in an announcement?
And because of all those points, I'm thinking that Un-3 is the most likely case here. If it isn't, I hope it's something bigger than GDS3 or MM2, something that no one could ever predict.
I wanted to write pretty much exactly the same thing, so let me just agree with this and repost it from time to time as the block goes on.
(I hope Stuffs sees this post while I'm still here...)
But of course!
Hello and welcome! Nice to see people still joining our ranks despite a relative lack of large-scale activity.
I've been thinking of moving to a new thread, though that's probably not happening until I come back. In the meantime, feel free to post silly anime cliches as ideas for the new thread title. My current idea is "It can't be helped. [MTGS Brigade] will have to use THAT!".
I know that much, but I just don't see anything blue so far. Blue is about seeking knowledge and perfection, and neither of those are really associated with savagery or bear-punching. On the other hand, we've barely scratched the surface of the world's setting, so I'm not going to jump to conclusions here, however important first impressions might be.
Red is about as subtle as a rock. Black is much more sneaky, it's just that UR is about crazy wacky shenanigans (which don't have to be subtle at all).
Also, Alara was designed around the lack of colors because it's literally what the block's story was about. We still don't know how the clans got their colors, but I have a strong hunch that it's going to be explained later in the block. In any case, saying that they're defined by what colors they aren't makes about as much sense as saying that Orzhov are defined by the lack of blue, red and green.
