DDR? Why not Pump It Up? Most of my friends play it, even I tried it a couple of times, and so it seems superior to me. But sure, you can have both, yeah.
Oh, and that part about Babelfishing the blog got me interested. As a beginner linguist (and a teacher of foreign languages), I wonder what troubles you in Japanese language the most. Is it the kanji?

HOLY ****I, for one, am not a big fan of Makoto "Ours" Shinkai's works, but yeah, just a handshake with him would be enough to die without regrets. Now, go and find grandpa Miyazaki!Posted in: The Weary Gaijin: The Chronicles of Mr. Stuff

Speaking of Spring, has anyone watched Selector Infected Wixoss? I honestly didn't expect to enjoy a drama about girls playing TCGs this much, but now I'm glad they got a second season in the making. I also bought two starter decks to check out the game itself, and it has a lot of excellent ideas beyond simply combining Duel Masters/Kaijudo and Cardfight Vanguard. For instance, other than the usual randomized deck with black backs, you have a much smaller deck with white backs - and you can use any card in it whenever you want, as if it was your second hand. Certainly worth checking out if you like MtG and anime (and the chances of that are pretty great if you're here).
At least there's that.
I remember that they at least warned us about the redesign last time, so I'm not sure why they didn't do the same here. I also remember being disappointed about many old functions and pages disappearing with the last redesign, and it seems that they decided against fixing those and dumped even more content into the garbage bin. I'll give them time to sort through this "public beta" phase, but I remember trying to use the old search function years after the last redesign with no success.
Haven't checked the new Gatherer yet, but I just had to check the new Planes part of the website. It suffers from the same problems as the articles, but with more minor Vorthos nitpicks, such as misspelling Toshiro's surname as Umezara or having no praetors among legendary creatures of New Phyrexia. I also checked out the Russian translation of it, and Fiora's page is missing a whole chunk of info on Silvala and has Marchesa translated as Marchese.
Spending a day without internet is apparently the best way to catch up to random stuff lying around - for instance, Teekyuu. Man, that's one crazy little show. If you'd like to check out the anime version of energy drink shots, look no further - and certainly don't try to marathon it, it's impossible.
Well that's one nice coincidence: I've finally bit the bullet and bought a ticket to Japan. Needless to say, I'm incredibly excited to visit it for the first time. Me and my friend are mostly going to explore Tokyo, especially with Comiket taking place on the week we're spending there, but we're probably going to visit Kyoto and maybe some more towns (probably not Hokkaido, though), so I hope I get a chance to say hi.
The coincidences keep on coming: I've just started watching that arc. Hoping it's not going to be as boring as the Sacred Beasts one, but since it's going to have a lot more Toguro, I probably shouldn't be afraid of that.
Remember how the game's called?
I'm slowly, slooowly crawling out of the backlog hell that I've been in for about a year now. I've finished D-Frag, catching up to Nourin, dropped some hopeless shows for good, and now I only have 30 titles in my "Watching" list. It wouldn't have been that bad if I watched even two or three episodes a day. I also picked up J-Stars Victory VS, a great multiplayer action with lots of great franchises in it... and as a result, picked up even more shows, like Bobobobo Bobobo and Yu Yu Hakusho. Yeah, I wanted to check those out at some point anyways, but now is probably not the best time to be distracted by them.
That said, I've picked a couple of Spring shows, but there are still some that I'm interested in, but didn't check out yet. Anyone got anything to say about these?

NGNL and Mekaku City Actors are probably my favorites so far. I was pretty hyped for Chaika, but the first episode left a bad taste in my mouth with its hasty pacing. I'll probably still keep watching it, if only because of the delicious Namaniku ATK designs.
First of all, creatures are more vulnerable than the land that you get with the Font. Second, getting a land out of your deck means that you're less likely to draw one late in the game, which is also good. Both ways of mana fixing have their advantages over the other, so picking one mostly depends on the deck you're using.
You do realize that your comment is an ad hominem, as well, right? Not to mention that there are exceptions on both sides.
Meanwhile, MaRo has stated that the card initially could only remove cards from your graveyard, but that option was soon added to fight graveyard-oriented decks. The snake is given to the card's owner because it would've been too powerful otherwise. You can give a rest to your silly "Initial version" speculations now. And wonder how making a card better makes it seem worse, while you're at it.
I love cards like these, especially in Limited. I'm going to play this so hard in WU Heroic decks, you can't even imagine.
My initial reaction stayed the same even after I've read through the thread: it lets you use your dudes for the second time, giving you some reasonable blockers that can also be used as sac fodder or Constellation triggers. Sounds good on paper to me. I didn't really pay attention to the fact that she can exile creatures from any graveyard, but trading them snakes for their creatures does make sense for the impartial god of life and death. However, it seems like people want her to be a graveyard hate god for some reason, which clearly wasn't the intent behind her design. Yes, she can work like that in a pinch, but most of the time, getting the token for yourself is going to be more important than exiling a creature in their graveyard - and in the latter case, giving them a measly token is a cheap price for getting rid of their reanimation target.
Then there is the natural desire of people to "upgrade" the card by making it produce the token on your side even when you exile their creature, and I could totally see that happening - if it wasn't for Deathtouch. That single word means that the token you make with Pharika is basically indestructible in combat, since it produces more and more fodder for itself by blocking more and more creatures, giving you some sick card advantage in the process. The most obvious way to fight that is to never attack the Pharika player (or attack with evasive creatures), and we all know how fun that is. It's very easy to make a card more powerful, sky's the limit, but it's a bit more difficult to make it fun to both play with and play against.
Let me put it this way. When Phenax was spoiled, lots of UB fans complained that Wizards print nothing but mill cards for their color combination. But when Pharika is spoiled and she doesn't fit the usual Dredge/reanimation strategy of BG, people are disappointed that they can't use her in their favorite decks. You can't have the cake and eat it, too, guys. Try building something new around her.
Giving out not one, but two keywords is a good enough reason to keep an eye on this guy, I think. It also combines nicely with Stonebrow, Krosan Hero.
Infect is guaranteed to return, so you better quit now.
