I don't mind being patient for a small price drop, but may I ask if anyone might have some insight on foil Mox Opals? I understand that Affinity is on the rise again, and I would like to finish my Affinity deck as soon as I can but I don't think I can justify purchasing the card when it just went up around 15-30 dollars more than what I bought it for about two weeks ago.
I need two more and was going to go ahead and buy them but with the price increase, I think I am okay with just waiting until the foils are back down to around 50. Any knowledge of when I may be able to expect that price or see a slight decrease?
Just curious, I am looking at banned cards to pick up. Any thoughts about how many Jace, the Mind Sculptors people would play in their main deck if it was unbanned? I understand the appeal but I never really got how it works in a deck that wanted the advantage from Jace.
Hi everyone! I am hoping someone can help me make some smart decisions and help me come to a consensus of what I should be buying in the upcoming months.
I am looking to finally start finishing up my Abzan Midrange deck and although I have a good chunk of cards, what would everyone kind of agree upon when it comes to priority cards? If any experienced Junk players are out there then would it be possible to number off what should be the most vital and important key cards that I should slowly be checking off and maybe some tips as to when I should go ahead and buy them.
I know Modern Masters is coming out soon so I expect a Liliana purchase, and although I can afford it right now, I don't know if it prioritizes other cards.
Honestly, people are afraid that Lavamancer will be bolted or something but once he is in the clear, he wins you games. Especially game one of Affinity. I was able to successfully reach for 4 damage because they didn't have anything to stop it.
Bv31, I like your list but depending on how you like to play. I think you might need to lessen the color spells you have. You're running about 10, whereas Affinity really wants to run about 6-8. Maybe going down on an ensoul or galvanic blast might be a god idea. I'm not too sure about how the meta will be lie anymore but how do you feel about steel overseer?
I agree, in most situations I can see that card being a target for removal but I DO think that it should be tested, maybe even tested as a one of. I honestly do not mind running 3 Eidolons. If it comes down early game and NOT die, good. Late game, and you possibly have one or two burn spells as you drop it then that may be to our benefit. I definitely will be grabbing a playset to test the card out.
It lets you draw a card for free while also giving you the exact mana you need. If you have only red-mana in the beginning and need to cast a spell of another color, this is your solution.
Plus, the -4 card slot works in your favor since it creates the mana it spends AND gives you a free card to boot. Its a filtering effect similar to fetchlands and has two awesome effects!
That is assuming that you draw into a spell that you need, it is highly possible to draw into something that you may not be able to use such as a land, or a spell that is not able to be cast due to the mana needed, thus wasting a slot just to draw one card that you possibly will have to use immediately to not waste the mana that is produced. I would think MAYBE it can be used in a mono red deck but when you want to splash white or any other colors I think just running a normal spell to answer problems would be much better. Possibly faithless looting would even be better if wanting easy draws if going mono red.
The only advantage I see with Manamorphose is drawing one card but that would also mean that you HAVE to play a card the moment you use it rather than having the flexibility of holding a card for when you really need to use it. In a situation where you would want to use the mana already and you might as well draw a card anyways, I think that could put Burn players in a bad situation to just play burn spells rather than playing burn spells smarter.
A lot of what I am hearing about the card is if you use it then you MIGHT be able to do this, you CAN do that, IF, etc. which seem to be arguments of you have a chance to do this if this happens. But what I really want to do with my cards when I play Burn is to know WHEN can I use it which is something that Manamorphose does not allow me to do properly as it forces me to play based off of what I MIGHT get rather than what I already have. I can see Magma Jet being paired well with the card but Burn decks are already tight with card slots.
I play around 10 fetches, and choose to run 2 shard volleys. I was wondering if 2 or 3 treasure cruises should be ran. I see plenty of lists that run 2 and plenty that run 3. What feels right to most players? My blue manabase consist of 1 sulfur falls and one steam vents. I personally just like checklands and I am not too worried about land destruction.
I personally don't see Cruise being banned, even though I can see why people would want it to be banned. But if next banlists comes and it is there, how much of a spike would we be seeing for the card?
What do you guys think of having a transformable sideboard? One that can try being the Milan build and a normal build? I mainly play with friends who are not too competitive so I wouldn't really know how well it would go in a tournament scene but I do like the idea and I think that I would be willing to test it out considering that match ups could be possibly quite different post sideboard.
