Staple for casual commander players I suspect. Will probably exile between 1-3 cards reliably. Being an instant and exiling the cards really helps. My only complaint is that the art seems pretty lame.
I believe that WotC wants it so that players can naturally know what a creature's type is without having to look at Gatherer. (For the most part). So they aren't likely to change all the Wraiths to Specters or vice versa without reason. So it seems unlikely they'll do that. Also, to me, Specters are more substantial, mounted kind of creatures. Wraiths are somewhat insubstantial, almost illusory creatures.
I must say that Invasion of New Phyrexia // Teferi Akosa of Zhafir is pretty magnificent design. I kind of love that the Teferi part seems less important. Seems like it's just gravy to an already pretty awesome token generator.
As a massive Tolkien fan, Aragorn being black doesn't bother me. I still think it is stupid, but I can deal with it. Why can I deal with it? Because every single time a person or character of color shows up in Tolkien's work, that character is either evil or barbaric. That's a problem. And while I'm willing to give Tolkien the benefit of the doubt wrt racism, it is still a problem. Why do I think this is stupid? Because it is a cheap, predictable and corporate way of handling the issue.
This company seems to specialize in high impact, hard resin kind of materials. 750 bucks for a 2 foot tall resin figure is a rip off. High end would be high quality white metal or bronze. And no way could you buy a metal sculpture 2 foot tall for 750 retail.
The Naga is, while not an all star, better than people might think. 2/1 for 3 with a draw 2, discard 1 is ok by itself. The fact that this can come back as a 4/4 with a larger card advantage, is really decent. It's not a bomb and I don't think it's constructed playable at all. But it's not an insulting card at all.
No. Sins of the Past only allows you to play it from the graveyeard through it's mana cost. Since Restore Balance has no mana cost, you can't cast it through Sins of the Past.
Gargantua saw a little standard play, a bunch of block and limited play. Not saying Discovery is going to be a standard or modern staple, but it isn't trash like some have suggested.
The Awaken draw spell is basically Phyrexian Gargantua in a different color, more splashable, more versatile, with a slightly more punishing drawback. It's going to be better than people think. Gargantua is already good in Commander and this is no better. It is a well designed card.
whatever I touch
starts to rot in my clutch
I'm too much.
An amusing card to be sure.
Awesome card. Even better art.
