0_o Well, I guess my friend was smart to get the Dragonlord Atarka foil he wanted for his EDH deck last week for $23. I see the foil is showing a TCGMid price of $76 now after the Pro Tour!
As a passionate EDH competitive player, I have zero interest in this new fad. It artificially hamstrings deckbuilding with the CMC restriction, the deck size is absurdly small, and the speed of the format makes me question why you wouldn't just play Legacy or Duel EDH (which I also detest). It'll have a niche, maybe, but I seriously doubt it will never reach the same level of popularity as normal multiplayer EDH.
Russian foil Silumgar, the Drifting Death. What's the expected price? I assume I should hold for EDH demand, but the only listing I see anywhere is on eBay for $100. Do we think that is that an accurate value?
Tasigur has been dubbed Tasigoyf by players at my LGS. He's that good, and that fast. The SCG decklists triggered this spike. The chance to get him at the previously low price has passed. Don't be surprised if he hits 20 by midweek.
I would also love to see a tally for the alt art cards, if available. I traded for quite a few of them and i'd like to know if I should dump them now or hold. I assume the alt art ugin will hold good value.
International Collector's Edition Black Lotus, signed by Christopher Rush. Has a small crease/bend at the bottom edge, otherwise would be SP. Found a huge disparity in prices online, from $240 to $500 mint, but most stores seem to be sold out at whatever price they were quoting. Didn't find any others that were signed. Any ideas on realistic estimated value given the Rush sig and the small defect?
Regran Cards and Collectibles in Manila, Philippines will refuse to sell you cards at the listed price if they realize the card was not removed from the binder after a recent spike. Example: I went in there today and was looking through their dollar binder (50 pesos). There were two copies of Glittering Wish in there. As soon as I pulled them out the owners exchanged looks and refused to complete the sale. The male owner even had the nerve to say they were actually his 'personal cards', part of his modern deck, and were never for sale to begin with! I was very disappointed and I will not shop there again. Filipino players beware!
If money was absolutely no object and I had absolutely no shame? All of the cards like basic lands, Wheel of Fortune, Counterspell, Mana Crypt, Sol Ring, or Volcanic Island in my main deck (Jhoira) that were printed in Revised would instead become Summer Magic cards. That's close to, what, $50,000 in just a few cards, lol? :-D
Isn't Jesper Myrfors really difficult to get signed as well, I've heard?
ALso, about how common is a Dan Frazier signed card? Just acquired an Alpha Forcefield signed by him... kind of awesome and I feel a vintage card in this good shape (LP+) and signed should probably command a premium.
....And this is me banging my head against the wall repeatedly. I knew they would eventually make a Darksteel Sliver and here it is. My friends will be ecstatic.
I also use one of the Ultra-Pro bags. I love it. Since I don't maintain a trade collection anymore, it's perfect. I used an Exacto knife to cut out one of the cardboard dividers so I can fit one of the giant Ultra-Pro Pro Tower boxes for my flagship EDH deck. I also am able to fit four Ultra-Pro magnetic mana symbol deckboxes for my other EDH decks, and another deckbox for my Legacy deck. I still have room for a dice bag, two folded playmats, a few extra sleeves and a pad of paper, and my set of Planechase cards and a few extra cards in a Ziploc bag. I have a set of the Ravnica guild pins which I attached permanently to the bag's strap. Looks great!
Wow, I was really excited for this and this is extremely disappointing. Seriously...?! No fetch lands, no shock lands, no money cards except for a Sword? I understand the combined value of all the cards might meet/exceed MSRP but this is seriously a terrible list. You could make a much better deck by investing $75 on TCGPlayer and buying smart.
