The objective is to play huge creatures in a few turns. The deck is only made of creatures and lands because the more creatures you have the best the key cards are.
There are some early expendable creatures to fill our graveyard and hopefully get rid of some threats that will contribute to the creature count in the graveyards.
Mid game things to hit aren't necessary. That's what burn is for. Try taking a look at rabble red. Hoarding dragon and haunted plate mail, need more mana than you want to see. Coordinated assault is better than Crowd's Favor and Rise to the Challenge. Generator servant can go in favor of things that do things, including one drops. Frenzied goblin is important vs courser. Sigiled skink is probably the weakest link in the deck. Why would you ever want to reduce your strike count? Don't replace lightning strike with magma jet. Lightning strike is your burn for problem solving and reach. Your creatures will often trade with x/2s which is fine. They have issues with x/3s. That's why you have strike. If anything, searing blood is the more narrow card.
Changes with Khans of Tarkir: War-name aspirant over Altac bloodseeker, probably. Altac bloodseeker needs things to die yet be open to not get run over... and doesn't even run over sylvan caryatid without help.
I just read a book about The Mathematics of Magic: The Gathering and I want to apply what it says to see what's the best budget deck. For doing that I need the help of the community because I cannot play all the games required for having precise statistics. As the skill of the player affects the results you should play one game with each deck and tell me the results so we can see how each deck does. Play against random decks in cockatrice, apprentice, MWS... If you have never played that kind of deck play one before and when you think you know how it works play a game, don't play until you win and say that you won because it would make the statistics not reliable.
The formatting for Cockatrice and the XML file has changed with the latest release. If you are wanting to play M15 in the meantime I have uploaded some files to hopefully make it a bit easier as well as provide a clean XML file that has accurate card information as far as I am aware (if I missed something let me know and I can update the XML and upload it again).
Note
This XML file contains only the cards officially uploaded to the Magic 2015 Core Set Card Image Gallery as of 7/3 with the newest addition being Leeching Sliver.
was thinking of writing my own mtg inventory app for android that can track values over time. might do it over summer. also, excel is very good for the non techsavvy user - you can use a data connection. it requires no programming knowledge. if you want i'll make an example and post it here.
It would be great to have an example. Maybe I use excel finally because decked builder for windows is expensive.
I've seen a lot of different options: Magic Album, MWS, excel, collection tracker, deckbox, mtg studio, decked builder, the vault, magic assistant. I think I'll choose Decked builder for it's multiplatform connectivity.
You can use whatever inventory program you want, post it as a list on MTGS, bookmark your MTGS trade/sales list on your phone That's how I always look at what I have and what I'm looking for when trading.
Could you give me an example of an inventory program? Then I only have to do another inventory for the trades/sales and use dropbox right?
I use a simplistic google doc for my cards, as i have them in a giant excel sheet allready (how many i have, which language, foil, etc.).
A friend of mine puts all his cards in a sell market with "high" prices. So he knows what he has, and even gets the bonus that some random dude will buy his over expensive cards (which randomly happens from time to time).
Would you be willing to share your spreadsheet with us? Maybe the layout will be a good starting point. There is not point in re-inventing the wheel right?
Where can I download the old version of cockatrice? Could anyone who has M15 send me his folder to see if I can run it just by pasting it in my computer?
Go to woogerworks to get the program. download the latest card thing on here and in the setting (in the program under the cockatrice button) you can change the card database path to the latest xml file you just downloaded.
I've done that and it says that the card database version is too old.
Hello, I'm going to the prerelease of these edition and wanted to practise with the cards in it. I wanted to use forge but it doesn't have this edition. With the stuff here can I practise with the cards against the computer or what can I do for practising with the cards of these release?
I thought about doing this deck when I saw the match between Ben Friedman and Jeremy Dezani in Pro Tour Magic 2015 (minute 31).
The objective is to play huge creatures in a few turns. The deck is only made of creatures and lands because the more creatures you have the best the key cards are.
KEY CARDS
Nighthowler / Undergrowth Scavenger / Nemesis of Mortals + Satyr Wayfinder / Necromancer's Assistant / Nyx Weaver
Soul of Innistrad helps against removal.
There are some early expendable creatures to fill our graveyard and hopefully get rid of some threats that will contribute to the creature count in the graveyards.
