Really needed Prowess rather than Trample.

There's never going to be a free card draw spell because Magic is a 60 card game, not 56.

  • posted a message on Single copies in the Sideboard, does it really matters?
Against Humans (and aggro decks that sideboard poorly and run Surgical Extraction) it helps to have varied sweepers in your sideboard, so a Jeskai Control deck might sideboard 1 Engineered Explosives, 1 Anger of the Gods, and 1 Settle the Wreckage. Note that all those cards are fine to strong against other decks as well.

If you want to play Jeskai, Teferi and Jace are just better than Nahiri, that's why nobody serious runs her. She's a fine wincon, just less versatile than the other control 'walkers.

    Hi all,

Would this card be gas for burn?

    Gaea's Blessing

    1G
    Sorcery
Target player shuffles up to three target cards from his or her graveyard into his or her library.

    Draw a card.

When Gaea's Blessing is put into your graveyard from your library, shuffle your graveyard into your library

    Maybe as a 1 of?

No, this would actually be pretty bad. If it returned the cards to the hand, maybe, but even then it probably wouldn't be better than just more burn.

What? If it was literally 1G "return 3 cards from your graveyard to your hand, draw a card" it would be banned in Modern, not "probably wouldn't be better than just more burn." Laughing

Jeeeeeez. What do we have to do for a Tron land reprint? Frown

Hope for them to be in Dominaria? But also, they're $3 cards, why do they need a reprint? I picked up a Japanese BB set of 12 for like $80 last summer. Urza lands aren't an availability problem.

Because we want foil tron lands with the old art!!!

Pretty sure WotC doesn't have the rights to print the old arts anymore.

It's a random mage. The clothes don't look Tarkirian to me. I think this artwork was chosen for preview purposes because it just screams "guys!!!1 Tolaria is in this set!!".

Don't Planeswalkers tend to change their appearance to blend in on each plane they visit? IF Narset was on Dominaria learning new magic, I doubt she'd want to attract attention.

That said, I think it's a random Tolarian.

The powering up and down of sets is done with intent, the issue is...I dont think people like lower power sets anymore, if they ever did.

Modern is a thing, and its a big thing, and people can very easily look at it as 'why would I play X, when I can play Y'.

I know I'm not alone in that. The last good Standard, was Khans, because that block had power.

People have no clue how to measure power though, they cry "This set sucks! This is the worst Standard ever" every standard format.

I mean, the problem is they've been right for so many Standards in a row that WotC brought back the Modern PT.

that seems sweet, both BBE and Jace, but i can't see playing both as a 4-off, 8 4 drops seems too greedy.

I'm starting with 4x BBE and 2x Jace, since that's what I own. Jace is also a bit tougher to remove, Legendary, and costs blue mana blue mana

Currently testing this list, I'm trying to play as much of a GRu deck as possible since Field of Ruin is like chlamydia now. (It's everywhere Wink ) Oath of Nissa is just the best cantrip in this list since it grabs everything but Lightning Bolt and I never want blue lands if I can help it. Oath also lets us cast Jace for RRRG so we don't even have to let them know there's blue in the list Game 1 if we don't draw him.

Unfortunately, it seems like there's nothing really unconditionally awesome to cascade into in our colors (other than Visions, which I don't have) the best thing I've found is a 4/4 Flying Angel. Tons of options are good against specific decks but nothing is just a home run play like Kolaghan's Command would be in Jund. Big Knucks is adorable but he has no evasion and loses combat to Angler/Tasigur (unless you spend three more mana, which we'd rather tap to cast Jace) and Shadow basically always.

The maybeboard is huge right now, things like Pulse of Murasa or Time to Feed at least give us a + matchup against Burn, which I feel is going to be popular as everyone tries to break Jace in control decks. I'm not sure we can ever race them preboard but I haven't run into the matchup yet so who knows.

Against midrange strategies we cast stuff ahead of curve and eventually draw Jace on a complicated board, so that can't be awful.

Emrakul, the Promised End had protection from instants not even two years ago.

They've moved away from "protection" because the way it works is sometimes un-intuitive.

I could conceive ancient stirrings being considered for a ban as it helps many decks people complains about. It's about as powerful as any banned blue cantrip in those decks.

As a Lantern player, if something was going to get banned, this would be my top choice as I think the deck might be able to survive with one of the blue cantrips. Plus, it would screw over Tron, which is never a bad thing in my eyes. Smile

That would be ridiculous collateral damage considering how many other pieces of the Lantern lock could be banned and leave the deck functional but not as good.

Tetzimoc is much better than Multikicker B : Destroy a creature, as you can pay for it multiple turns in advance

I just wish it said 'or from the Command Zone'.

Unfortunately nothing can be cast from the command zone in "standard" magic.

I really hate that they keep putting Deathtouch on huge black creatures, since it's basically redundant. Almost everything that fights this guy is gonna die. Give him Menace, he's scary!

The elves do look like those of Deep Shadow, but the face strap on the central figure harks back to the original Llanowar Elves art.
That's probably what that art is for, in all honesty. A reprint of Llanowar Elves.

Imagine that art with the iconic flavor text, "One bone broken for every twig snapped underfoot." It fits so well.

Didn't they create Elvish Mystic specifically to replace Llanowar Elves because they didn't like the plural on a 1/1 creature?

It had more to do with the fact that Llanowar is unique to Dominaria. I mean it's awkward enough they had to create Fyndhorn Elves because they had a story on another continent within Dominaria.
