    Hey Everyone!

Just getting back into magic, can someone get me in on the loop why we are playing Wear // Tear instead of Hide // Seek?
Hide covers Wear or Tear, and seek can come in vs big mana decks/decks that have 1-2 finishers.
Obviously I'm missing something so let me know,

    Thanks!

You'll just the same be wasting 2 mana on your threat to have it killed by a 1 mana removal from your opponent.

I don't really get where you're coming from. In more cases than not the 4th toughness will not matter for the threat since more decks (at least in my meta) are black than red. Hence, instead of looking for a 2 drop that can survive bolt, I will choose to either go for the value plan (Voice) or the better beatdown plan (Greenwheel) rather than looking for a 4 toughness goyf replacement. While yes, 4 toughness can save me from loosing a 2 drop to a one drop, it doesn't guarantee it in the slightest, hence not going to worry about it.
For reference I have been using Voice, but his lack of a front end is rather annoying for a zoo deck. Greenwheel seems like a good beatstick regardless of his 3 toughness, since I only have 1 goyf currently.
That's what I was saying at least. If I'm wrong, let me know.

Depending on how Fatal Push Affects the format, my 2 cmc goyf replacement will either be Voice or Greenwheel Liberator. Seems like surviving the bolt test might be moot now.

    Hey everyone,
I know everyone has been on the oath/walker hype train, so I want to ask you: Is it actually performing better for you than CoCo has? Not "do you like it more", but have you been seeing better results from it than you were when running Naya Company? I ask since everyone here has been grinding the walkers, yet states data shows that CoCo decks did well, without any walkers versions of Big Zoo. That could be because 1) luck, 2) CoCo is still the right choice, 3) Sample size.
Let me know what you think!

Thopter decks have answers for Stony Silence.

Some have Spell Snare, some have Inquisition Of Kozilek/Thoughtseize and all of them run Engineered Explosives, so it is not a problem that can not be solved.

I will admit though that I do not believe Thopter Foundry/Sword Of The Meek will break the format.

It is slower than Twin and the major difference is that you don't get to goldfish wins. All the broken combo decks or decks with a combo win con that got banned (or they will in Modern), had this in common.
Amulet Bloom, Splinter Twin, Big Storm, Grishoalbrand etc.

Engineered Explosives would be my answer of choice against Stony Silence.

    Wait, what?

EE is a good answer vs Stony Silence on the thopter decks.

Willer and I are wondering how one activates Engineered Explosives with Stony Silence on the field?

    Azemotay,
Depends where you play, but against the current U/W meta I have been playing against on cockatrice (literally, 5/5 matches) CoCo with Thalia maindeck is the most potent form compared to oath/arlinn/elspeth builds. Could totally be different later, but for now, you might as well keep using CoCo, and have Voice and Thalia main. It's not a bad setup against Jund/Infect/Burn either, so it's a safe call in any meta. Does that help?

Remplace flinthoof by reckless bushwhacker! With burning tree+ reckless that deadly !

Flinthoof works much better with pyroclasm. That was probably part of his reasoning. whether or not that's correct is a meta decision.

Do we think that 2 Ooze main is good enough as GY hate? My local meta has a bunch of GY decks included zombie loam, not sure just the two Oozes is good enough, thinking RIP in the board?

You probably don't want RIP. That card kills our KotR and Tarmogoyfs. It would most likely be better to either up the number of scoozes if there are too many GY decks in your meta, or add something like Loaming Shaman into the side.

Can you tell me then how can Jund fight against Snapcaster Mage and AV which both provides phenomenal card advantage?

Well for starters, you can't flashback AV.

I didn't say that AV can be flashed back by Snapcaster Mage but that you essentially have card advantage with AV and Snapcaster Mage that can flash back spells and provide ca advantage or any other kind of advantage in game by that. Jund doesn't do good against these kind of decks. It can do fine against control but when control rebuilds its hand with AV it actually kills all work Jund did so far.

This game usually works in a way that control>midrange/combo>aggro>control. Rock Paper Scissors type stuff.
I am truly sorry for you that it's not a Jund>everything else type format, but that is better for the format as a whole. AV decks will not be super dominant, because they will be controlled by the shear number of aggro decks that can kill as early as turn 2. Aggro will not be dominant because Jund will do what Jund does. Jund will not be dominant due to a resurgence in A WHOLE ARCHETYPE.
So relax, and keep playing Jund. Chances are that this will bring forth the healthiest metagame Modern has seen in quite a while.

This should be pretty good for us overall. Arlinn gives us the trample option we need against SotM, AV is hard to outvalue, but we have the upper hand of being an aggro deck that can flood the board and beat them before they capitalize on those cards.
So everyone dust off your quasali pridemages and artifact hate whatever you do, cause there is bound to be a crap ton of artifact decks in this new meta.

If affinity takes a hit tomorrow, then Wizards obviously agrees with your Max Banned List "idea" a little too much.

Edit: That said, if affinity is nerfed, we may possibly see more aggro deck diversity (as if we needed that), and less anti-artifact sideboard slots.
Aka, it would do very little to affect the format as a whole.

    4 bolts, 4 paths

How many slots are left for creatures?

~24. Which is fine without Company and with Oath. I have been goldfishing 4 oath + 2 kord, and it seems pretty solid. Definately a different feel to it than with company included though.

Comparing Arlin to Elspeth seems like a trap. Elspeth is so much better . . . at what she does. What elspeth does is use a fatty to end games quickly, or create chump blockers. That's what she does, and she does it a whole lot more reliably than Arlin.
What does Arlin do? Create incremental board state advantages. Her abilities are more relevant for stabilizing and breaking stalls, not closing games quickly. Whether your against affinity/infect and just need bodies/bolts to save yourself from a very quick death or going wide against Jund/merfolk and need a way to punch past an army of fatties without dying on the swing back Arlin seems like your go to walker.

It should be interesting in testing, after the eldrazi deck is banned, what the configuration is going to be. Is she going to go with 3 company's, play 2 chandra with 2 arlinn, or just play 2 arlinn.

You mean 2 Company not Chandra right? Or is there a Chandra worth running with her?
I personally will be doing the 2/2 split between her and Company.

So here's a question: if every card in a modern legal set were unbanned, would one deck be dominant? And which? Certainly it would be a degenerate format, but eternal formats are generally degenerate, simply because they eliminate all but the best 1% of cards.

Or alternatively, what if the ban list were turned into a restricted list? These are the questions that keep me up at night.

To add upon what Lord Seth said,
Affinity and delver are the T1 decks that really abuse skull clamp and other banned cards of their choice,
T2 is really open with all manner of decks from upgraded Pod decks and Elves, to U/W Stoneblade and Storm. Infect, Jund, and D&T are also good in the format.
So the format is both value oriented and fast. The kind of place where Bloom and Eldrazi would be welcome additions rather than oppressive (I think, it's of course all speculation).
Anyways, you can find more info on the mnbl reddit sub forum.
