Every time I see the cat demon I think, "Rakshasa, Golden Cub." It's even a gold cat. All the morphs seem a little fragile. The blue and black ones have to most potential although the while one should be everywhere in limited.
Is it just me or do all sentient dragon planeswalkers look the same? /mtgracist.
Maybe Bolas and Ugin are brothers. New brothers' war?
Maybe Ugin's P/T is equal to the number of other dragons you control and when the Khans wiped them out (perhaps as a part of Bolas' evil genius plan) he died as part of a state-based effect.
Maybe Bolas created Ugin as a helpful clone of himself (thus the resemblance) and when Ugin developed ideas of his own, Bolas put him down.
Maybe the art direction chosen for Ugin is meant only to be reminiscent of Bolas to remind the playerbase that Bolas is still around and something to worry about. (Most likely because Bolas will reenter the storyline soon)
Maybe Ugin was Bolas' stunt double in MTG: the Movie and tragically died on set during one of the stunts. Producer Sarkhan Vol travels back in time to save the franchise.
Maybe when a planeswalker spark ignites in a dragon, it effects their spines and gives them a perfect size-two waistline.
Or it could all be a coincidence and people's minds tend to group things together as alike for easier processing of information.
I'm obviously thrilled about fetchland reprints. I preordered a box as soon as the news broke. I will be looking to pick up as many copies as I can get my hands on because if history is any indication, these will just ballooon in value over the next few years. Very excited to more easily mske modern and legacy decks.
Anyone know what the average number per box should be? Also are the prices of boxes expected to rise over the price of other recent sets because of this?
Good stats, sometimes relevant abilities. Seems good. Would put one in a pod sideboard, other than that, I'm not too thrilled. It's pretty slow to try to hate out dredge and reanimator in Legacy, may see some fringe play outside of pod in Modern.
For standard, 4/4's for three are good. It will probably be played in Junk aggro strategies just for that reason. Reminds me a lot of Dryad Militant.
From an EDH POV:
That's not exciting. Add 1 mana and make Vindicate and Instant. Keep it the same as vindicate and add the non-land clause. But to add both just makes this almost unplayable in EDH.
Do want. Will be playing in EDH. So much easier to cast and a little better than Unmake. If Warleader's Helix was playable in standard, this will be too. Also hits gods which is nice. You could play this as a more versatile md card instead of relying on things like Deicide post-board.
See the Unwritten is crazy good in EDH. I'll probably end up buying three or four. Also may be playable in standard with Soundclaw Mystic ramping up nicely to six mana when you flip it.
Azban Supremacy, maybe the best Supremacy spoiled so far?
Waste Not? More like, "Play Not," amirite guys? But seriously it's not amazing. It would require a pretty slow, controlly standard to see play commonly.
Nah, they didnt win. Their stories are just ongoing.
Phyrexia still needs their new glorious leader and the Eldrazi just left off to somewhere we dont know. There is still room for the good guys to win.
Stories that go wors before they get better are much more exiting because of all the dramatic tention. They will be comcluded at some point.
I guess it depends on when you choose to end the story. I chose to end it at the end of the block. Saying 'the good guys still have room to win,' is like saying Loki didn't lose in the Avengers movie. Yeah, there's a sequel, yeah he's involved, but he definitely lost in the first chapter.

But it still doesn't counter spells! Talk about garbage.

It also exiles which is important in EDH.

Thanks for making another bad card, playerbase.
