I know I'm a big lurker here, but I just had to comment here. SRdude's comments are not only ridiculous and absurd, but baseless. I have seen enough of his posts to infer that he thinks he's a pseudo-pro. Generally speaking, all he does is make up results or theorize how decks work. Then, he posts his list as if it is perfect (with little or no testing), and then insults the other people in the thread.

SRdude, you've got to see that that is infuriating to the other people in this thread and all other threads you've participated in. Furthermore, the list you posted in absolutely abysmal. That's really why I felt compelled to share my thoughts here. You should really read IBA's posts. While I disagree with his choice in win conditions, he understands magic logic and completely dispells running cards like Compulsive Research, bouncelands, and 1-for-1 counterspells such as Mana Leak and Spell Snare. He's right. Your deck flats rolls over to Zoo and other fast, tempo-based aggro decks. If you'd like to test, I'd be happy to prove this to you anytime.

In addition, regardless of the quality of the players in the tournament, IBA got 6th place out of over 100 contestants. The fact that playskill doesn't always matter in tournaments is exemplified in the recent SCG $1500 that produced a new, powerful deck called Solar Pox. If you watched Evan Erwin's coverage at SCG, the players in the top eight all made countless mistakes. However, nearly everyone has realized the power of the new variant of Solar Flare since then and it looks strong going into the nationwide States championships.

To end my rambling, I guess my punch line will be that you need to lighten up. For once, maybe you should consider adding something positive to a thread instead of thinking that you are superior and that your decks are flawless. This will be much more beneficial to the community in every way.

all right that just got me pissed off. I happen to know for a fact that SRdude happens to test a lot seing how i test with him. he also happens to be right and sharing his info with you guys. It gets me so pissed off to see people like you talk about a personal friend of mine like that when u have no idea what ur talking about urself. SRdude also fully comprehends "Magic Logic" and is prolyl a better player than u so to see u trolling him liek that doesnt seem to make much sense. his posts are always backed up by testing not "made up match results" like so many awful people on this forum do, and just becaue it makes you mad you shouldn't disregard his opinion. so pretty much i am telling you to **** off and get better at magic you ****ing peace of **** loser who hasnt talked to a girl in twenty years..at least one that didnt weigh two thousand pounds

Need I explain this mod text? Infraction for trolling issued.

Fair enough. I'll believe you that Zombify isn't too important to Solar Flare, however I believe we have a solid matchup, simply because we have more counters and can keep them down until we can drop something like a Mesa for the win. We can Wrath with almost complete impunity, since they don't have too many counters.

UW Reanimator is an interesting idea, but keep in mind that they're starting out 4 mana down from a Resurrection, so you could win the counter war there, unless they're running Signets or some such. Even still, you can Condemn that Akroma fairly easily, and Wrath still kills it. Granted, they can Resurrect again, but they'd have to draw it first. Not to mention, are you implying that they'd be stopping a T1 Crypt?

And U/W Control now plays Devouring Light? Huh, seem to have missed that. Even still, there's a reason we play win conditions other than Angels. Good luck Lighting Pegasus tokens.

I will agree that Sacred Ground is an important part of a SB, though.

EDIT: After searching the UW control thread, Devouring Light seems to have been dismissed as an inferior Condemn. I agree wholeheartedly.

i dont mean to sound like a dip**** here, but u just made and entire post of bull****. you just kind of made some statements that arent true at all. You can obviously tell you have never played a single game and are just hiding behind a false wall of presumptions that are based on ur theories which happen to be wrong, making you feel secure because you think u have made the perfect deck and can beat anything when it really is not godo at all and will not get better because you refuse to acccept suggestions because they does not match your flawed logic.

    EDIT:mods come and get me

    Ok. Warning issued.

u are losing because u r getting outplayed by the uw player. uw is one of the best decks if u play it right. but there arent many people that can play permission correctly, and assume its bad when they keep losing with it. With uw u shud be able to win any matchup.

well...finkel will give u more card advantage in the long run, the benefit of court hussar is that you get amazing card selection. Finkel also takes a turn to get online if that wud matter.

id run the knell too. Actually id like 2 mesa, 1 knell. Draining welk is bad becuause he requires your opponant to play a bomb. Hes pretty bad unless you can counter a big creature and since you pay 6 for this counterspell most decks that run SSS have the counters to backup their fattys so its not like you can ploay draining welk when ur opponant is tapped out or anything. Just a terrible card in general for this kind of control deck.

not rlly the reason the whelk is bad...it is one of the most inneficient cards ever. most of the time you will be using it as a six mana answer to a mybe 3 or four mana problem, and when you start doing that you lose. you get a guy but that guy is very succeptable to any removal spell, and will not get that big most of the time meaning he will not do that much on the board.

im pretty sure u wanan be running dragonstorm as ur kill condition u just get 4 bogarden hellkites and win. dont know if the deck ramps that much mana that fast...but u have to storm for a lot less, and it automatically wins u the game.

i dont rlly care, im 15 and i think if they changed it to 18 it wud prolly be even easier cuz just cuz people are older doesnt make them good. i know i wud proly still have a very easy time winning jss's cuz i know a lot of the times at ptqs i beat the older guys and they are worse then the jss level players. if it were allowed up to 18 it wud just be a bigger tourney with a higher concentration of bad players. Jss's arent hard now and i dont think an age difference wud make them any harder. it wud just be a smart move by wizards, and wud let me suck scholarship prize out of them for 3 extra years.

i think the meta will be like...
    40/noob
    20 nobs with decent deck
20 ok players with decent decks
20 good players and good decks

i think that is more important than the actual decks that people play. im just gonan find a good deck or just net-deck something i can outplay most of the people with.

  • posted a message on Will Sizzitron still be tier 1 after rotation?
[quote=Trent;/comments/2224540]Lets see buddy, clearly you have no knowledge of the current Standard metagame. Tron can't beat the top decks. It can't beat Sea Stompy. It can't beat Solar Flare(YES it is still a contender, look at MTGO premier events if you don't believe me). It can't beat Countertop. It can't beat BR Aggro. Yes, Tron was "good" for a second, but it is no longer Tier one, as it can't beat the best decks. Oh and my response was quite intelligent, as it is the truth, it just doesn't have the support for people who don't know about Standard. Oh yeah and also, Sizzetron being bad isn't what I think, or my opinion, it IS bad.

I pretty much agree with everything you said, however i still think some scrubs will be like...omg someone did good with this deck once and it doesnt lose any cards, im gonna win everything...mustbenice.

yo magus and confidant...nice deck. Magus has no synergy with dark confidant whatsoever. And in a deck based around dark confidant doesnt seem like it works. i tested this deck a bit and magus was prolly the worst card in it. It belongs in a deck like boros or zoo, where they empty their hand. bob makes it way too unreliable.
