Ravendirk 2
Artifact-Equipment
Vanishing 4
At the beginning of your upkeep, if Ravendirk is equipped to a creature, you may skip your draw step. If you do, search your library for a Bird card with converted mana cost three or less. Put that card into your hand and shuffle your library.
Equipped creature gets +1/+1 for each Bird you control.
Equip UU Birds of feather flock together.
OMG are you seriously serious right now? Do you know what I went through to get my card in on time?
I couldn't think of an idea for anything with 0 until this morning. But, this morning I had to wake up at 7am and drive to my fiance's parents house to meet up with her extended family then board a bus to NYC to see the Christmas Spectacular. I thought maybe I could find a computer terminal in Rock Center, but the bus ride took 4 hours. We got off and headed to TGIFridays on 5th Ave where it took 45 minutes to get our food. By the time we were done it was time for the show. Hoping to get home by 11pm, we get on the bus. Then we stop off at a service station in Ardsley for a friggin hour and get back on the road at 8:30. I know I won't get to a computer at this point, so I call my sister who is home for Thanksgiving at 10:30 and TALK HER THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS. The posting, the MSE creation and exporting, use of spoiler tags, finding the art (which is the only part I can nitpick) etc etc etc. She is successful in completing the tasks I give her, it took over an hour to explain everything. And as soon as we're done, and everything is posted, the bus hits a dead zone and all cell phones drop out!
Sorry you didn't get your card in on time infernostu, but it just makes this all the more hilarious.
Definetly one for the history books!
PLEASE SCORE MY ENTRY ANYWAY.
(bad spelling attributed to no right click, stoopid mac book)
can't say my day was as exciting as yours, congrats, your hard work paid off
Quality: Why doesn't the echo ability grant shroud until EOT?
It does.
Flavor: The art doesn't look perticularly simic-y, but the rest all fits very well.
This, as usual, probably belongs in bonus rather than Flavor.
Feels kinda underwelming for a rare. Yeah, it equates to a 4/4 with shroud, but only for a turn. After that, it's all kinda downhill. The fact that you have no control over when it gains shroud makes it rather useless; your opponent could just respond to the trigger with a Shock, and it's a wasted card. Sorry, but if I'm putting 3 mana into a creature, I don't want it to die to Tom so easily. Especially in :symu::symg:.
If you're playing either green or blue, these are the colors that actually care about burn the least (ok so does white). Counters and/or a minor pump will do the trick. The shroud gives you a small oppertunity to send out a pump before you have to pay the echo cost. The flavor intention was to make it weak for a turn, and then allow the simic to step in with their magic and add some pump to it.
Also, I'd like to address that I feel the errors you've pointed out are all on the minor side, while my honorable opponent, Yuan-ti, seems to have made a bit more critical mistakes, and was deducted 2 points while I was deducted for 2.5. Now I can't argue with any solid claims, but I seem to find that a bit interesting. If you don't mind telling me precisely how much each thing listed was deducted.
Author's real name is Marc, but no surname given, so I'm going with his DevArt screename
Springburst Elf 1GU
Creature — Elf Druid
Echo 0
At the begining of your upkeep, if there is a +1/+1 counter on Springburst Elf, remove a +1/+1 counter from it.
When Springburst Elf’s Echo cost is paid, put three +1/+1 counters on Springburst Elf. Until end of turn, it can’t be the target of spells or abilities. When nature makes a mistake, the Simic are more than happy to fix it.
1/1
(refers to the fragile nature of elves, and how the Simic, always thirsty for strength, give her some magical steroids)
Death Surge B
Instant
As an additional cost to play Death Surge, put a permenant you control with converted mana cost 4 or greater on the bottom of its owners library.
Destroy target creature. It can’t be regenerated.
Draw a card. “Why do I so delight in death? You have only to examine the twisted faces of my victims to learn.”

Echo 0
When Amryss of Lys Alana’s echo cost is paid, you lose X life. Then, choose one — Until end of turn, the top X Elf creature cards in your graveyard can be played as though they were in your hand; or X target Elves you control have deathtouch and gain +1/+1 until end of turn. Where X is the number of +1/+1 counters on Amryss of Lys Alana. “To survive in Lys Alana, one must either have strength or beauty, but to truly rule, one must have both.”

aww, even though you didn't advance, I still think it's quite a cool card, and putting red draws that actually feel red aren't always easy.
