The End of an Era

First off, realy like the deck. I'm sleeving it up soon (a mix between Lucien's deck and BatHickey's deck), so I'll try to post with some thoughts after further testing.

But as an 8rack player I'm not sure if more copies of bridge fit here. I can attest to the power of bridge with the rack and lili in play, but it becomes much less powerful with the Waste Not plan. A running Waste Not will generate too many draws early game for bridge to actually matter. It usually ends up feeling dead which is why most 8rack players dropped Waste Not. I do think bridge is still relevant late game when a top-decked Goyf, for example, could be problematic, so I'll be testing 1-2. Thoughts?

I'm leaning toward bolt only in the main as well. I was thinking more utility for the side. My weaknesses are tron (obviously) and affinity. Affinity may be due to misplays, but sometimes darkblast doesn't do it for me.

Bathickey - I also really like the list. I plan on testing later but how susceptible to graveyard hate do you feel the list is? Obviously your record somewhat speaks for itself but I'm curious on your thoughts.

Esperino - I've also been wondering recently about the viability of a red splash (different than previous red splashes as you mentioned). Would you mind sharing the list you're looking at? In theory it might be the simplest color to splash to keep the list closest to the mono black list while adding cards specifically for weaknesses (Tron). Will test asap.

I agree, I don't think Bridge should be cut with a Waste Not build. With the (albeit limited) play testing I've done with Waste Not, I didn't create all that many zombies (granted it depends on what deck you're playing against, but still). I found the zombies much more useful as blockers until I could find a bridge rather than as an alternate win-con.

I like the idea of using more of Waste Not, especially the infusion of mana as you say. By the time I had waste not up and running during testing, I was more often than not getting those BB, especially with opponents holding onto their lands with The Rack in play. I wonder if Mind Slash might be an interesting addition to the type of deck Raystack posted. Sac a Gravecrawler to Mind Slash, choose a creature, play gravecrawler, sac, get a land and BB, etc. It might be very well be too slow and too situational (or too cute), but I'm curious on others' opinions.

I also wonder if skeins would be a good addition to a waste not 8rack. I'm relatively new to 8rack, but I've lost several long games at my LGS because I couldn't finish them fast enough. Skeins would be great if Waste Not was in play, but I think it may also be a decent top deck to get them hellbent when they're hoarding cards as the game drags on. I think there are enough cards that I wouldn't mind discarding also, such as bridge with buried ruin in play, dakmor, etc., that might make skeins at least worth considering. It might also help a turn 3 against tron where Wrench Mind wouldn't do much good.
