I'll be trying this in my Horde of Notions deck where the major theme is ETB. I've got 18 creatures that directly benefit.

Sadly, Blade of Selves and the myriad ability exile the tokens at end of combat so Kokusho and other dies triggered creatures don't get quite so crazy. (That is unless you've got an instant speed sac outlet.)

Well, with Kokusho and other legendaries, the copies die instantly to the legend rule. So it is pretty stupid with some legends, namely Kokusho.

Maro has stated on blogatog multiple times that they would not normally return to worlds so soon, especially one whose story seemed wrapped up like Innistrad. He also insists that there is a very good reason that they're returning to that particular world at this particular time. I think that implies heavily that the BFZ story will bleed directly into SOI, and the Lovecraft/Shadows Over Innsmouth reference only lends more credibility to that.

    klouthluz asked:

Maro, I loved original Innistrad and liked a lot that we are going back next year. What I think is the problem is that it still seems so fresh. Perhaps many players are like this too, thus all the complaining... Maybe we could leave a bigger gap between meeting and returning to a plane... Anyway, I trust you, you've been doing this for almost as long as I've been alive. =)

Originally, we weren’t going to visit Innistrad until next fall, which while fast was not quite as fast. The Two-Block Paradigm sped that up.

As a general rule, we’re not going to be returning this quickly to worlds, but I don’t want to talk about the reasons just yet as to why we did it this.Trust me, there are reasons.

    Another ******* revisit.. seriously? :/

take into account that after SOI, exactly 50% of all MTG sets will have taken place on worlds previously visited. I believe Dominaria alone makes up around 30% of those sets, if not more. There's a breakdown earlier in the thread that I suggest you look at. It really puts things in perspective.

Neat, Uncle Dragi got a new tenant.

Cool card with cool political capabilities.

Beyond hyped for this, Innistrad is by far my favorite set ever. The flavor is so great and the limited environment was amazing. Those who are hoping for Lili and Snappy reprints shouldn't get too excited, since I believe MaRo (i don't have a source handy, i just remember seeing it on his tumblr, so i could be wrong about this) thinks Lili is too strong for the current standard. Also, Snappy just got the RPTQ promo treatment, and both of these cards will undoubtedly be used to push packs of Modern Masters 3. Since I'm a trash casual EDH player, I also don't care too much about power level, just as long as the cards are fun (I actually like BFZ, lots of fun stuff).

All that being said, the only thing I don't like about this announcement is that we know the Spring block already and have a whopping one spoiler for the Commander set that comes out in two weeks. I know previews start Monday, but come on. I need my fix.

I like the idea, and I do enjoy the simplicity of the RW archetype of "hey turn dudes sideways (that's all my Gisela deck is)," I dislike that they gave the color pair that has the biggest problems with mana production the "CMC5+ matters" general. Hopefully there's a quality ramp package in there to really help it reach full potential.

EDIT: upon further consideration, seems like a really REALLY good general if anyone was wanting to do dedicated giant tribal. It's almost like it was made specifically for that.

Terra Eternal is a must if your meta is packing MLD. Walking Atlas is also an all star, as is Sword of the Animist.

I have to throw in Kangee, Aerie Keeper for consideration. The synergy with Bird tribal is shocking, and it totally fits your playstyle of getting in the red zone. Build mana as the game goes on, drop Kangee for somewhere around 5 or 6 feather counters, swing a ton of damage. My list runs a decent amount of control too, which isn't hard for UW to do. Dovescape is one heck of a card.

I plan on using Oracle of Dust and Void Attendant in my Roon control deck to make Roon a 4-mana murder machine with some upside.

If you have Hokori out, Palinchron is a good choice to blink on the end step before your turn, giving you plenty of mana to work with. Plus, paired with Deadeye Navigator, you've got infinite mana, which I hear is plenty to work with. I'm sure there are some neat interactions with the new combo-screaming Retreat to Coralhelm and some kind of Living Lands type deal, though that's probably not so much what you're after.

if you have Karador, Ghost Chieftain in the deck, a Yosei lock is one of my favorite ways to win. lock down their board and beat face. Saffi Eriksdotter makes the lock a lot less mana intensive.

I think there's something to be said for Abzan Allies, especially since it gives you the option of things like the new Veteran Warleader, Harabaz Druid, and Beastcaller Expert. The non-creature options that green gives you can be really strong, things like Collected Company and creature tutors to get the allies you need when you need them. I would also recommend having black in there somewhere so you can use March from the Tomb.

My worst was by far a game where I was playing Karador in a four player game with Wrexial, the Risen Deep, The Mimeoplasm, and Daghatar the Adamant. Daghatar and Mimeoplasm were dead, and Wrexial was at 2 life. I had ten or so cards in my library and around 60 or so life. My board is packed with small guys, around twelve total power, a Pithing Needle'd Luminarch Ascension, a Rule of Law, and a Swiftfoot Boots. Wrexial's board is a Jace's Mindseeker and a Stormtide Leviathan. I have no flyers, so I can't get through to him. In my hand is an Oblivion Ring and an Aven Mindcensor. I begin thinking to myself "oh, I can just get rid of the Mindseeker and swing with a hasty Mindcensor next turn and get him exact. Cute.

I O-Ring the Mindseeker and pass.

He plays another flyer and passes.

I die on draw ten turns later. I've never facepalmed so hard in my life.
