Feb 6, 2014Dr.Awesome posted a message on Launch Giveaway! My favourite card is probably Muscle Sliver. I've always had a soft spot for Slivers since opening one. I started with Tempest when I was in Grade 7. This was back when we had Jinxed Idol in a game and thought that once someone had it, they had it forever ("it says permanently!") I've learned a lot about Magic since then, and like a lot of others have taken a few "breaks" from the game along the way, but I've always gravitated to that pre-8th border and the lovely art style of Tempest. Any time I see a Muscle Sliver, I can't help but smile and remember why I got hooked on Magic in the first place.Posted in: Announcements

Having said that, all of those cards are really special, and at the end of the day the most optimal choice is likely Damnation because it is the most efficient board wipe in Black.
New topic: Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath vs. Shadowborn Demon. I recently cut the Demon from my Karador EDH list in favour of the new Fleshbag variant, and am wondering how he compares to the new Ob walker. I tested Ob a little bit recently and he's fine as a 5/5 flier with a walker attached, but I'm wondering if you guys think it's significantly better than Shadowborn. I like ETB effects, and it seems like SD would have more of an impact than Ob, despite the drawback. Thoughts?
I'm having a hard time picturing a deck where Mox Diamond is better than Sol Ring. I know you already do a lot of explaining on these forums, but would you mind elaborating on this a little more? Which deck wants a Diamond more than a Ring?

Skullclamp is as busted as usual, but it really shines by burying your opponent in value in conjunction with Alesha. Seems nasty!
Anyway, bit of an aside there but to summarise, I think an EDH cube would be an awesome idea if I ever do decide to build a second one, but for now I just was trying to suggest a fun way to play if you ever find yourself with an odd number of people. My friends don't like to just sit and watch 2 other matches if we have 5, for example.
Looks like a wedge section is definitely needed 'cause my black section is already super tight, but this guy is a playable card for sure.
The single-target and contingency on an expensive manabase are definitely downsides to the card, but I think there's enough nonbasics being run in my meta to warrant its inclusion. If it does 4+ damage on average each time it comes in, that adds up quickly, especially if you can copy it. I'm not sure if that's good enough, but I'll try it out and see. I think ultimately testing will prove that it's a decent card but not something that would make a final 99 of ultra-tuned Marchesa builds.
I only have one copy of Sneak Attack and it's in my cube, so I have to do without in my build! I looked through my list and most of my creatures are either 2 or 3 power, so I think he'll hit a lot of stuff. I like that he comes in with a counter at 3 mana to give him some protection if Marchesa is out. I can see it being bad-feels if you whiff with him, but I also run Academy Ruins and Living Death which should mitigate those in the long run.
