Arc-slogger is a terrible card for new players. they don't understand that cards in library, like life, are a resource that you can freely expend as long as you have any at all, with more or less reckless abandon; rather, they think "ten cards off the top is ten turns closer to losing, terrible card."
Actually new players tend to think "Well what if I get rid of a card I want/need!?"
Or at least that's what I thought when I was a nubsta.
@Bob: I do like the purple cards, and I too would like to see where this concept goes. I rather like the concept that Purple revolves around removed-from-the-game cards/zone etc
Honestly, I don't at all. It takes away the point to there being a RFG zone. It makes it basically just another graveyard.
I'm just going to write here that yes the Wishes and Pull From Eternity both can effect the RFG zone (so that someone doesn't go LOL BUT THE WISHES DID IT YOU FAIL) but they are unique in their effect. Once we have a whole color dedicated to it, the effect becomes common and the RFG zone is no longer the RFG zone.
Any card in play face-down is a 2/2 creature with no abilities. This ability doesn't work from the start. You probably want something closer to the flip creatures.
What about the golden rule? The rules say it's a 2/2, but the card says it's something else. The card wins.
Raven Guild Stalker 2B
Creature - Shapeshifter Rogue
2/1
Fear Shift — 1U: Turn Raven Guild Stalker face down as a 1/1 blue Bird creature with flying and "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card." Turn it face at up any time for 3.
Shift is a mechanic that represents a permanent becoming an entirely different permanent, by switching between being face-up and face-down.
Whitewood Dryad 1G
Creature - Dryad
1/1
Forestwalk
Shift — 1: Turn Whitewood Dryad face down as a Forest land. Turn it face up at any time for 1.
As you can see, it is not just restricted to creatures becoming other creatures. It uses terms similar to morph.
Some have suggested I change it to 'becomes', for example: Shift — 1U: Turn Raven Guild Stalker becomes a 1/1 blue Bird creature with flying and "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card." End this effect at any time for 3.
Is there any problems with the face up/down version? I don't like the second, mainly because of two things:
1. With face up and face down, the creature can begin anew without certain traits. With 'becomes', how much of the card stays the same? It would still be called "Raven Guild Stalker", correct?
2. People (Judges) HATE Humility and Humble, don't they? Would this version cause as many problems?
I'd really like suggestions and clarification on which would be the better version to go with, and comments on cards/the ability itself would be appreciated. Thanks!
21st Century Schizoid Man 2RR
Legendary Creature - Human Schizoid
2/2
Flash
When 21st Century Schizoid Man comes into play, change the target of target spell or ability with a single target.
Madness 1R
Yeah I want Savannah Lions and Lightning Helix banned, just cuz I keep getting beat by BDW
Honestly, I would make the environment less multicolor oriented. I seriously face decks that are four-five color, an assload of duals and every good card in the format. Is it creative? No. What's the point of standard when every deck beats your face with a Heirarch and kills your chump blocker with Mortify?
Netdecking really isn't much of a problem. GOOD players realize that was works in one person's meta doesn't work in everyone elses. You can netdeck, but you still need to change things around to fight what is prevalent in your area.
I don't see the Extirpate hate either. This is another one of those cards that people will FLIP out about screaming how it will warp standard, and then it... Really won't do much. Sideboard sure, but really nothing format-defining. See Cranial Extraction and Pithing Needle.
What about Accumulated Knowledge for the blue instant card-draw niche? It's not broken, just really good...

Are you kidding me? Maga was the kill condition in Heartbeat.
Oh man, think of how sweet they would have looked. Now if only they could find a way to make them interesting again....

The worst cards are all those dreadfully overcosted beefy Slivers. They sucked in Onslaught, and they suck now. Boo.
