What's your strategy vs Soul Sisters?

More importantly--what's the hate plan for decks that gain life consistently? Do we just bank on Soul Sister's representing a small enough part of the Meta that we don't worry about it/Auto-L if it does?

Thoughts on Leyline of Punishment in the Side? Seems like a CMC of 4 is a little high. But, if you get it in the opening hand?

I can't beat UB control, and it's frustrating as hell.

I played against it last night at Tuesday Night Magic.

I boarded in 4 Mistcutter Hydra, I still lost.

I didn't draw into any thoughtseizes, which obviously would have helped. I hesitate to mulligan if I get some combo of 3 and 4 land/non-land just because I know their card advantgage is already so insanely better than ours.

But, both games--played turn 2 Deathdealers. The 1st time I went to pump it--Bile Blight. Then the counters started coming. If something landed, it got Downfalled. Once they get the first 3-4 creatures you draw out of the way--they typically have you. They start chaining their Dig Through Timeand get more answers, and eventually draw into their end game. I pretty much always feel helpless.

I have played players that weren't as good at captaining it.

All of that said, I also had outstanding success against Abzan Midrange and R/G monsters, and against some very good players. I like where the deck is at much moreso than I did the midrange version.

I'm usually not scared when someone else plays Master of the Feast.
If you're not holding a killspell, you'll likely draw into one.

I can't tell you how many times I've been holding an Abzan Charm or a Downfall when someone casts it. I pass the turn back to get the free card, then pop it.

I just can't see running it.

So, I'm wondering if Courser in the Aggro deck may be the wrong fit for my list. Any recommendations? I tried Warden but was underwhelmed. Thinking maybe Heir of the Wild. Also, I'd like to add Nissa to the SB but unsure what to remove. Only problem I see with Nissa is that I'm not running a lot of basic lands.. Also, I'm thinking maybe -1 Temple of Plenty for +1 Plains.. My list as it stands right now:

For a maybeboard, I was thnking along the lines of this?

Most of your dual lands produce black and either green or white. Black is the consistently produced color. Because of that, I've found that I don't always have 2 available green in 3 lands, which can slow down getting courser out. You may not always have 2 white in your first three lands, which hinders getting Brimaz out. But, you'll usually get access to 2 black in the 1st 3 lands, so because of this--Ive gone with Herald of Torment. You lose out on Coursers card drawing/life gaining. But, in the aggro build, we can usually live with this.

    Went 2-1-1 at FNM

    Match 1: Abzan Midrange 2-1
Game 1, I overwhelmed him with a perfect curve deathdealer, anafenza, rhino
Game 2, he got a ton of mana ramp, a couple of kill spells, and then blew it open with an Ashen Rider ridiculously early
Game 3: Got an opening hand with 2 lions and a deathdealer, bestowed Herald of torment, game didn't go very long at all

Match 2: Scuttling Doom Scissors 0-2
This was against my cousin, and I've always done well against this deck. In the past, I've always run 4 Abzan Charms and 2-3 Utter Ends. I just never had the right answer at the right time. Everytime I dropped a creature, it was followed with a lightning blast or a counterspell. When the doom engine came, I only drew downfalls. Long story short, I'm putting a little bit more exile back in.

    Match 3: White Heroic 1-1-1
Game 1: He had an answer everytime I tried to kill his Fabled Hero. Eventually he swung in for 8 double strike with protection from green, which covered everything I had on the board
Game 2: Sideboarded in Drown in sorrow and killed everything as it came. I was able to ultimate Sorin, Solemn Visitor while he had 0 creatures out and he scooped
Game 3: We started with 6 minutes to go. I was able to ultimate Sorin once again, but ran out of time in turns.

    Match 4: Temur midrange 2-1
Game 1: Turn 2 Save Knuckleblade wrecked the board. He temur Charmed 3 of my creatures out of his way to victory.
Game 2: Played pretty much tit for tat, raided wingmate roc saved the day
Game 3: Turn 1 thoughtseize got rid of his savage knuckleblade. Drew into 3 Siege Rhinos. Bestowed one with Herald of Torment. Silly fun way to end the night.

No one replied so, asking again:

Thoughts on Running 4 Taiga in order to sideboard Destructive revelry in case you run into a leyline?

Why not run Grim Lavamancer? 1 drop, can get value out of him even if he can't attack.

I've been working on building this of late. I'm a big fan of destructive revelry should Leyline come up. Thoughts on running Taiga/fetches to sideboard Destructive Revelry?

    Hi all

Been out of the game for years, recently got back into it. Just play with this for fun with friends and at local shops. Looking for suggestions as far as things to add

    4 Llanowar elves
    4 Argothian Elder
    4 Wild Growth
    4 Killer Bees
    4 Blastoderm
    3 Rhox
    4 Masticore
    4 Garruk's packleader
    4 Garruk's Horde
    1 Garruk, Caller of Beasts
    14 Forest
    2 Mosswart Bridge
    4 Wirewood Lodge

The llanowars and Preists provide the early mana ramp to hopefully Blastoderm/Killer Bees/Masticore out early enough to get some decent hits in. Then use the mana production and masticore to keep the board clear to keep swinging or to keep them from killing me.

Garruk's Horde allows me to cast creatures from the deck, so that Masticore doesn't completely shut my hand down.
Garruk's packleader serves a similar purpose.
Mossward Bridge gives essentially a free creature and with packleader--another card draw, which means a new card face up to potentially cast.

Eventually Argothian Elder+Wirewood Lodge+Wild Growth provides unlimited mana. With Horde's ability to cast the top card, and pack leader letting you draw everytime a big enough creature is cast--it's fairly common to cast every creature left in the deck in 1 turn.

In the event the card drawing/casting engine stops, Garruk COB's +1 re-opens things. I'm thinking I'll put 1 more of those in once I land it.

I'd like to replace Rhox for sure. His get through ability is nice, but he costs too much for the front game, and doesn't speed up the end game.
I've considered replacing Blastoderm as well, but a 5/5 4 drop that I can get 3 swings out of is huge. Even if he doesn't get through, it helps Masticore control the board.

Any suggestions on things to add/remove would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Floored at the backlash towards the OP.

I've always gone with the steak vs hamburger analogy when discussing cheap beer vs "good" beer. There's always a time and a place for burgers, but I'm not going to sit here and act like it's a premium steak.

I feel like people look to act like they're better than or above something in pretty much any aspect of life. Beer snobbery is no different. And if you're too good to drink a PBR, that's fine. But don't get mad at someone because that's all they bought you. If they hadn't given you anything--they haven't wronged you at all. But because an attempted nice gesture isn't nice enough--they suddenly have?

To say the OP FORCED something on his guests? LOL. He opened his home and gave them free stuff. Seriously, why not just act outraged that the burgers aren't expensive steaks. Why not get mad that the burgers aren't organic drug free beef? YOU TRYING TO POISON ME MAN? Weak @$$ free food.

Some of you responded talking about the difference in price--well maybe there's something there the OP can work with. But the issue isn't really "Is cheap beer ok?" It's about basic human manners. If Wal-Mart offers free samples of cereal, you don't get mad that they didn't give samples of a better cereal.

Some people were taught to say thank you when someone gives you something for free.
Some people were taught to ask "What is this $hit?" and insult someone.

And I'm sorry, but if you're partying to get drunk, you don't prefer quantity over quality. I'm sure these people have been to OP's parties in the past and know how said parties go. You can act high and mighty, but we've all partied to get plastered at some point or another. If your friend throws parties to get plastered, and you go just to have a few beers--don't expect "good" beer for those of you that just came to sip.
