Dec 12, 2018Worldsaverinc posted a message on Cards that should be reprinted to enter the Modern card poolI will reiterate my support for Birchlore Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, and Quiron Ranger in addition to Crystalline Sliver, Hibernation Sliver, and Hunter Sliver.Posted in: Modern
Dec 5, 2018I think I might play with a list like this if I had to play with CoCoPosted in: Budget (Modern)
I like Nissa, Voice of Zendikar to provide extra counters essentially as well as make Birds more viable a component.
Nov 14, 2018What about Conflagerate for Dredge?Posted in: Modern Archives
Conflagerate is one of the reasons that Dredge can do so well and doesn't have as many weaknesses. Banning this card will handle its reach, but also allow small/large creature based decks to beat or at least handle dredge. This would provide an interesting way for dredge to keep control and possible midrange down, but also allow it to have a weakness for creature based strategies.
It would also only hit dredge.
Nov 9, 2018What are people's thoughts with Experimental Frenzy?Posted in: Budget (Modern)
I think it work really well, especially provided some needed ramp. This might be a bit weird. We might need more mana.
Oct 24, 2018Athreos, God of Passage is my current cleric commander. I would probably put it in the 99 if it wasn't my commander. It does the things that it needs to do. It allows me to run more boardwipes.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
I would toss in a sacrifice effect and a recursion effect like nim deathmantle or the enchantment that brings a creature back if dead. The reason is things like False Prophet is a nigh constant boardwipe and clerics like to recur. In black you have some good sac effects to help clear the board. I would go for clerics rather than an aggressive deck, but a control type deck using controlling enchanments like Dictate of erebos and other like things to help control the board while getting synergy and value from the clerics you have. Academy Rector can help get the needed enchantments.
Clerics have a lot of ETB effects and the prevention of damage means you can play political. The fact that your clerics aren't big presents little problems surviving into the late game.
You play a patient game dealing with what is one the board, by boardwiping and keeping it clear until you get value either from returning clerics to your hand or the battlefield while the rest have to deal with your value and answers.
Oct 23, 2018I hope so, I like the tribal sets and the various tribes. I wasn't the happiest to see that the tribes weren't pushed to see competitive play especially Dinosaurs which had my buy a box of (2) sets that I would never have before. I bought sealed product like I generally haven't before because I liked Ixalan quite a bit.Posted in: Speculation
I want more dinosaur tribal, more tribal support (both generic and specific), and more Angrath and Huatli and Vraska (getting my wish there). I liked the race feeling of the set. I liked the setting quite a bit.
Oct 23, 2018Yeah tron is tough.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
I am finding that I am relying more on Mutavault and a fast start. The times that I have beaten tron that have gone long involve things like Necrotic/Telekinetic to stop the few threats and the land. I think game one, a more aggro start with striking sliver being an additional 1 drop can help in that department. Also...a wyrmcoil may be less of a threat to you though as sacrifice when block or first strike on defense.
Oct 22, 2018No problem, it sounds you hung tough with a rogue deck against some of hte premier decks in the format. A turn or here or a card there would have turned the matchup on its head.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
I might be coming to the conclusion that a second darkheart for the second necrotic might be a good choice or 1-2 striking slivers in the main as first strike is real important.
Sep 25, 2018There is a new standard in town soon.Posted in: Deck Creation (Standard)
Should we go Big (G/W/r), go black (G/B/r), or run it back (GR)?
This is just speculation on various theorycrafted builds. I am not the best brewer, but here are some ideas for each
Settle the Wreckage could be in here or Savage Stomp could be more dinos.
Run it Back
Well here are some of my ideas.
Sep 23, 2018Posted in: Budget (Modern)Quote from SpellHeart »I think the card with the most potential is Runaway Steam-Kin. Works well with Burning-Tree Emissary and is tutorable with Flamekin Harbinger.
Pelt Collector has the same problem as Experiment One - in most builds this guy too rarely grows larget than 2/2, so I'd still better played Kolaghan Stormsinger.
I think the kin being a 1/1 that doesn't provide card advantage is a bit weak on the whole. The Pelt Collector may generally get bigger than experiment one due to the Death-trigger. The death-trigger allows Pelt Collector to get bigger than experiment one. Pelt Collector, Burning-Tree Emissary, into whatever, and followed on turn 3 by rage forger. They remove rageforger and pelt collector is now a 3/3. To me, that is the point of Pelt Collector in addition to Wolf-Skull Shaman. It isn't a perfect one drop, just a more serviceable one that Experiment One.
