The End of an Era

Lyrillon turns to the newcomers, moving up a few feet off the ground. He stares skeptically at the two drow, readying himself for a possible fight. He does not start casting any spells, nor does he remove the bow from his back, but it is clear he is ready to do either at any sign of hostility.

"What are you doing here?" he booms with a stern and skeptical tone of voice. "I cannot say I am used to two...drow...appearing." The word 'drow' is dripping with something between extreme suspicion and disgust.

Yeah, I'll think about the Favored Soul. It might be a good idea.

As for feats, right now I have Spell Penetration, Weapon Focus, Ability Focus, Maximize SLA, and Quicken SLA (all eldritch blast). I have 2 feats left to spare. I'm thinking maybe Improved Toughness so I don't die while throwing hellfire, but I'm not sure.

Also, I can't attach a Harm spell to an eldritch blast. Only Eldritch Theurges can attach spells to their eldritch blasts. I can, however, apply eldritch essence invocations to spells, but I'm not sure I'll ever actually use that.

As a Warlock player I can answer that, yes the Feats work with a modified Blast, the shapes or essences are an additional so yeah you could technically Maximize, Empower and Quicken a Chain Vitriolic Hellfire Blast with a Harm Spell Attached (God Dammit OUCH!!).

    Thanks Smile

As for Feats it would depend, since you are focusing on Warlock it would most likely be the Spell-Like Enhancers. Question though, are you sure about cleric? Favored Soul would be much more apt since it would also use your Main Attribute (Cha)

I'm not sure Favored Soul is correct. It costs me a level to get to 2nd level spells, and I lose a lot of the versatility of being able to change my spells daily. Granted, I don't need to worry about offensive spells at all, but I still would rather have versatile clerical spellcasting. Also, the flavor of my character was going to be quit different from that of a favored soul, but I can change that a little.

That said, I may try it anyway. The high saves are nice too. :p

    I need a DM ruling:
If I take Maximize/Empower/Quicken Spell-Like Ability (Eldritch Blast), can I use that on a blast that's been modified with a blast shape and/or essence invocation?

Also, along the same lines, anyone have feat suggestions for a Warlock / Cleric / Eldritch Disciple / Hellfire Warlock?

Why not Miracle for the 9th level spell? When you right now only have a single one at that level, the huge versatility should be better than prismatic sphere, no?

    edit: @Yukora

I'll bet Prismatic Sphere can be pretty nasty with Yukora's character, but I still have to agree. Miracle is an incredibly powerful spell, and it seems like you should probably get that first and take Prismatic Sphere next level. Especially since I can do the Prismatic Sphere thing for you. :p

Two things - bmh is listed as having 24 points in the matchup grid, but as having 26 in the final standings/POTM points. Also, I don't think bmh actually beats ced395, though it is a tricky match to figure out. When I ran through it though, it looked like ced could recycle lotus in time to kill the rack with aura of silence, thus preventing himself from getting raced.

    This seems correct to me.
6 ced395Aura of Silence / Black Lotus / City of Traitors / Kodama of the North Tree / Soldevi Digger

    8 bmhMishra's Factory / Swamp / The Rack / Thoughtseize / Vesuva

When ced395 is on the play, he simply drops Kodama turn 1, and swings every turn. if bmh never blocks he takes 6 every turn, and even if he uses Thoughtseize and drops The Rack he just loses. If he blocks, his Factories die, and now he's really screwed.

When bmh goes first, he has to Thoughtseize Kodama, because otherwise the same thing happens. If he does that, then ced395 drops Aura of Silence and Digger turn 1. Now, whenever bmh manages to play The Rack it will die immediately, and ced395 has Kodama out in 2 more turns, which is plenty fast enough against bmh's Factory (or two if he slows down by a turn to drop Vesuva as a Factory).

    I'm finished.

    Playing Lyrillon: Fighter 10 / Arcane Archer 12 // Sorcerer 8 / Abjurant Champion 2 / Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 7 / Archmage 5

I'm a blaster and a defensive counter-mage with veils attached. At this point, the bow is mainly there for nice tricks (read: imbue arrow) and places/enemies where spells don't work properly.

Done with the Crunch... Missing the Bio and the Familiar.. question any class that grants +1 to CL counts for the purpose of familiar traits right?

Unless they state that they specially help your familiar, they do not.

"+1 level of existing class" under Spells per day just means that you're treated as gaining another level in the class for spellcasting and spellcasting only. You get +1 CL, spells per day as if you're one level higher, and (if applicable) spells known as if you're one level higher. That's it. No bonuses to your familiar.

So right now I'm thinking Warlock/Cleric/Hellfire Warlock/Eldritch Disciple. The character would be CN, with a very weird personality which would start out less pronounced and get more obvious the more he uses hellfire. The idea is he acts CG most of the time, so he only starts attacking evil creatures and things that provoke him. However, once he starts throwing eldritch (and especially hellfire) everywhere, he starts enjoying himself a little too much and can be a bit hard to stop. He will generally apologize for losing control, but it will inevitably happen again.

I haven't decided on the phobia yet, but I may go with a fear of accidentally killing things that don't deserve it (which he does once in a while when he loses control).

8.952.000. Yes, that's almost 9 million. Fully RAI & RAW, too. Wink (And that is assuming I buy rest of my items, instead of buying experience and using it to craft, or instead of buying specifically crafted items.)

You are incorrect sir. That may be fully RAW, but it's nowhere close to RAI. Those rules were not intended to be stacked together, and they were probably intended to be used during the game (not during character creation beforehand).

But seriously, your incessant munchkining gets really annoying. Can you please look at the rest of the characters and try to make something of comparable power. Better yet, make it something that feels like a character with some numbers added because you'll need them for fighting things. So far every character I've seen you make feels like a pile of numbers with a little flavor tacked on at the end. Mad

In other news, I'm done and ready to go. I added a couple Abjurant Champion levels (which were going to come in later anyway), and I'll come back to the class after Perfect Arcanist. Check the second post in this thread if you want to see the sheet.

So I'm considering the Hellfire Warlock option, but it doesn't feel all that interesting. I also don't really want to play a full caster, but I don't really have any good ideas yet for non-casters. Slant

    General suggestions are welcome.

Yeah, you'll be going epic. Going epic will be a major part of the storyline, in fact.

And it's not going to be going from level 20 to 21 like a regular level. It'll be a quest all by itself. I'll not say any more than that. Wink

Also, there's going to be a pretty heavy horror theme, and each character will be required to have something special, which I'll explain in the character gen thread. I'm considering putting it up tonight, by the way.

I agree with Yukora. Please put up the char gen thread ASAP. I'm really interested in this. Smile
