I play for Notre Dame Academy, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I'm going to Colby College (Waterville, Maine), and I'm going to try to play tennis there, too.
I know I would start sooner rather than later. I always end up having a very hard time naming things. In video games where they introduce a character that's going to be in your party, they always work the name in like "Hey, why don't you just call me ___" And I sit there for like 35 minutes pondering the best name for someone I just met. And that's just in a video game. In real life it would be a person and the doctor would ask me what the kid's name is and I would say....
"give me a few minutes to think."
Me too. But I really like the names Vincent and Alice, so I guess thos'll be the defaults...? I dunno. I haven't played video games (or had children) in a long time.
Hey! What's up? I have a (technically) 4-day break in between my exams but it'll be filled with studying Chemistry *vomit* and playing tennis and stuff. So the chances of me stopping back in here in the next few weeks will still be very small.
Anyhoo...well, there's not much to say, as I don't have time to read the thread quite yet.
Hm. My uncle trained me in a little Brazillian Jujitsu when I was young. It's a shame I don't remember it very well, but some of it seemed to stick with me. Another one of those no-so-useful-but-still-maybe-useful-eventually skills I have.
But I'm here to say that I will be incredibly busy for the next month or so with tennis season, work, IB exams, whatever, so if you want to bump me down to Apprentice of Spell Manipulation (the preferred option) or into the Erratic Portal (if you must), that'd be fine. I'll try to stop in once a week or so, but I can't make any promises. Who knows? I could be gone for an entire month again.

I never liked debates like that (Well, concerning the question. Of course I've never liked debates like this: :banghead:.) It's like debating a koan.
On the other hand, I do like the questions, though. Like this one: "Why is there something, instead of nothing?" (I think it was originally posed by Heidegger or someone liek that). Just don't debate it too seriously. I'll cry.

If your intentions are to win and nothing else, that your ultimate enjoyment can only come from winning and all other motives are just fillers, then you're a Spike.
Spikes can suck at playing MTG, but as long as they have a strong desire to win (everyone has a desire to win to some degree), then you're a Spike. Thus, if willing is the thing you value the most in a game of MTG, then you're a Spike. Everything else is just a means to that end.
The only time and reason not winning makes me mad is when I feel I should've won, and I lost because the deck I made didn't work the way it was supposed to, usually because I forgot to put a key card in it. Or had no room for removal (oops). Which is more Johnny. OCD Johhny. I expect my weird and wonderful creations to destroy things, damnit. Winning isn't fun just because I won - it's fun because it proves that the thing I created actually works.
If what you play allows you to win more than others, then what you play wins.
I think to clarify what "convenience" means, I believe the word is being used as a synonym to "whim." You play what you "feel like." This is an irrationality abhorred by Spikes. Spikes aren't like Johnnies or Timmies, they don't play what's fun. They play what wins.
I play better with decks I like, mostly because then I don't get bored and forget to do stuff because I get distracted. Must be the non-Spike in me.

Speaking of Unhinged drafts... Vile Bile is probably the most broken card ever. My friend played his card, picked it up... took 2 damage and slapped me across the face with it 10 times and I lost.
We had a house rule that if you did that, you were immediately castrated on the spot. I personally like imagining what people would think if they walked into the store in the middle of the draft and saw all the crazy shennanigans going on.

Also (preparing to make some enemies), Guitar Hero (and RockBand, by extension... and any and all Wii-things) are asinine. Why not just do these things for real? My (drastically overweight) cousin had me play Wii-Boxing once, because I box... I tried to "actually" box this weeble-opponent (he wobbled, but didn't fall down), but my actions were apparantly too fast for the remote to analyze. I ended up flailing my arms like a retard to knock him out.
Seconded. But Guitar Hero is fun, on occasion (usually involving lots and lots of people in a small space). Especially the metal version.
